We have a thread for the base Freelancer.... one for the MIS and one of the DUR.... but not for the MAX - and since the revamped version is now out - thought I'd create a thread. ++++++++++++ Wanted to address an important point many not be aware of......... many look at the Constellation Taurus with its Smuggling Hold......... greater upgrade (to other Connie components)...... more cargo capacity ........ (+ I still think it is under-priced)....... and wonder why you would ever pick a Freelancer MAX over a Taurus. My personal take is I would still choose the Taurus......... however....... there are some important things that people may not realize about Freelancers. Ben Lesnick (CIG) awhile ago on an RTV mentioned that Freelancers not only have Xi'An tech for their thrusters but also this Xi'An Tech does shield the entire ship (not just the cargo hold) from some casual scans (doesn't block scans but lessens their accuracy). &&&&&&&& The Freelancer is the largest Ship (though CR goes back and forth on this - but so far this is still current info) --------- to be able to go through a Small Jump point (whereas a Taurus is too big to go through Small Jump Points) Fit 2x Cyclones in a MAX, but need more headroom for Ursa

Greetings, finally the game seems mature enough to bother setting up my HOTAS and buying and selling stuff in the verse. I have loaded my Freelancer with about 19 commodities from Agricume at 25.72 a unit, to Waste at 0.09 and have been flying around mapping out who sells and buys what commodities and at what price. I have some data on revenue based on the amount you need to invest in the cargo. I have noticed that prices vary at some locations, I suspect based on the degree to which the demand is satisfied so it is possible that margins on runs will change if they become too popular. This variation could also be random, just logging in and out of the terminal has changed some of the pricing. Best return so far for investments under 10,000 is Processed Food at 836 a run. Investments up near 20,000 you can get up to 1,900 a run for Stims. At 35,000 or so you can get up to 2,350 a run for Distilled Spirits. The big dog so far is Medical Supplies for 130,000 earning 7,200 a run. I have not made any of these runs as my cargo compartment is filled with crates of different commodities so I can see who is buying what and for how much. These numbers assume 7600 units per run which seems to be the count regardless of material volume or weight (100 commodity units per cargo space unit regardless of the commodity). The more of us running around the faster we can map the area and make trade roots. I have not figures all the jump lanes, but from different locations you jump into orbits at different locations requiring additional jumps so developing the best trade routes will require good jump maps. If you have further information to share, please do.

I've just gotta know if this is a common "issue." I saw that exchanging my F7C-S Hornet GHOST for a Freelance DUR was $0 because they cost the same base price (I didn't know you could even exchange ships of equal value.) I went ahead with it knowing I could just switch it back if I didn't like it. Instead of giving me a Freelancer DUR, what the upgrade did instead was not only keep the GHOST, but also threw in an extra Hornet and a standard-class Freelancer. I mean I'm not upset- At the end of the day I've got three ships now, but none of them are actually what I meant to get. They all show up in my hanger, each can be summoned and customized in the universe, and I can even request insurance for them. I could always try to upgrade my ship to the GHOST then back again but I'm a bit worried about that, I don't want to break it anymore than it already is. Might as well let sleeping dogs lie, I know that after awhile everything will probably be back to normal. Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe not exactly the same, but something along these lines?

Context: Freelancer was a game that was designed by Chris Roberts back in 2001. Like SC, you could be a pirate, trader, explorer, salvager etc, but you couldn't walk in ships or cities and there was a bunch of other stuff that you couldn't do. Now that I think about it, its amazing to see how 15 years could change this to this... hell, even when I glanced at the development section in Freelancer's wiki page, the similarities between Freelancer's and SC's scope and development process/hardships are striking:-

I currently have the package for the 325a and I am comtimplating switching it out for the freelancer. I really like the Star Citizen project (digital freelancer is a more expensive package so I would back it more) and I am tempted to get the freelancer due to its advanced hauling and exploration capabilities v 325a all-round role. I want to play a mixed role in the game, but in the begining I want to enjoy exploring the universe, but want the necessary defenses to protect myself against an attack. I also have been unable to get many of my console playing friends on board so I would have no friends to join me in the freelancer, which to me would be half of the fun. So given my perdicament, which direct do you believe I should take? should I stick with my 325a and discount hanger or move up to the bigger freelancer and business class hanger? Additionally, for the hangers we currently have, do we keep the "class of hanger" we have for the life of the game of after a predetermined period will we have a "rent" due? I appreciate your help!

The M50 seem to fit inside the MAX's hold. Do you think CIG would allow to load small ships in the hold just like any ordinary cargo? I'd take it as far as to enable a small ship to land and takeoff from the hold in space just like the Connie and Merlin. I can already fit my Graycat in there
