  2. Hi guys, First of all I am so glad that I found this place. I was heartbroken to see the official Star Citizen forums go because the new spectrum is such a mess, especially regarding ship discussions. So I am hoping you can help me with my problem. I am planning to get my hands on the Polaris (I already own the Cutlass Blue, Gladiator and CCU from Gladiator to Super Hornet, Reedemer, Reclaimer, Crucible and double Noxes). I am more or less done when it comes to buying new ships because I think I got everything I need except I got one problem. What do you think what ship should I get to be the designated scanning ship in the hangar bay of the Polaris? From what I understand Idris will have great scanners and Polaris will have tough time sneaking up on it unless it uses some sort of scanning ship. I was debating between Herald, Hornet Tracker, 315P, and Terrapin. Each one of them has it's own problems that are bothering me: 1) Herald: I am not sure does Herald even got any advantage over other ships when it comes to scanning? I mean it is supposed to be hacking and info runner ship I am not sure does it have any sort of specialized scanning equipment :S 2) 315P: My buddy owns one so I guess we could use that. What bothers me is how strong are it's scanners compared to other ships? 3) Hornet Tracker: I own a Gladiator and I got a CCU to Super Hornet. I was planning on using it and then just strap on the Tracker gear on top of the Super hornet. I wasn't able to figure out what exactly is the Hornet Trackers role... does it do long range scanning vs other ships and how effective is it at that? I read something about Tracker allowing other ships to achieve faster lock and detect stealthy ship etc. etc. but all I really want is a long range ship scanner 4) Terrapin: From what I read Terrapin is supposed to be the dedicated stealth long range scanner and seems like the best choice but what bothers me is it's price tag... I don't feel like getting rid of my Gladiator (or Super Hornet CCU) to get it. 5) Gladiator: I own it and I heard some speculations that it might receive some modularity. I am not sure are those just rumors but if we could strap on a powerful radar on sensors on it Gladiator would be a bit more versatile. So what do you think? Do you think that getting Tracker gear on the Super Hornet is a viable option to serve as a scout for the Polaris (that would be the cheapest bet for me) or should I look into other scanning ships from the list?
  3. Greetings Citizens, I've really stepped in it this time, I love this account that I have built, but I dipped into my savings to do it. Then, of course, now being unemployed I can't make the rent, which is due in two weeks. So seeing as it's sell this account or end up on the streets, so it seems like a simple choice. I've picked up all my ships from grey market trades, as to get the LTIs, so I can't sell off single ships, so the entire account has to go. Ships: Anvil Carrack Anvil Terrapin Freelancer Max (Upgraded from Dragonfly) Super Hornet (Upgraded from Hornet Wildfire) MISC Prospector The UEE Explorer Package also includes both games Squadron 42 and Star Citizen. The total melt value for the account is $920, yours for $550. I'm PayPal Verified.

  7. DUR vs Terrapin vs Aquila

So, I'm trying to figure out why someone would prefer the Terrapin over the other options. In the lineup of exploration ships, I see it fitting somewhere between the DUR and the Aquila so have been mostly looking to compare versus them. Price wise, it is almost exactly in the middle of the two. But, size and crew wise, it seems closer to the DUR. Looking at the stats (always undependable at this stage but a good 'guess') and description, it seems the Terrapin will be slower but better armored than a DUR. Armament seems kind of close at this point. All the exploration ships seem to emphasize flexibility but in different ways. The DUR and Aquila seem to go towards hauling whereas the Terrapin towards S&R. The crew requirements for the DUR and Terrapin seem to be both at 2. It looks like the DUR can take either a Dragonfly or Greycat in the back for planetary exploration. Have they said if the Terrapin will? Did I miss something? What are other folks' opinions on why you would select the Terrapin over the DUR?
  8. Anvil Terrapin

Anvil Terrapin Concept Sale “If one more yahoo rocket jockey calls my Terrapin ‘a literal tough nut to crack,’ he’s getting a taste of size five…” - “L-T” Jordan Halveston, Terrapin Driver THE ANVIL TERRAPIN Presenting the Anvil Aerospace U4A-3 Terrapin-class Scanning/Exploration Ship. The Terrapin was developed near the end of the 28th century to serve as the first ship in the Empire’s defensive restructuring of the Navy. The Terrapin’s watchword is protection, with extensive shield systems and armor layers designed to provide the maximum possible defense for pilot and crew. While it lacks the maneuverability of a dedicated fighter, it does maintain an advanced, hard-hitting array of weapons intended to keep the most fearsome Vanduul raider at bay. Terrapin have seen extensive service with the Navy over the last 150 years, cementing a reputation as a support ship par excellence. The design has been put into service as everything from a standard APC to (most effectively) a long-range explorer. Terrapin often serve as combat search-and-rescue ships, a role they came into after testing proved their ability to perform precise combat pickups while under heavy enemy ground fire. Since its introduction, the Terrapin spaceframe has become increasingly popular among civilian explorers. Surplus U4A-3 hulls are routinely available on the open market, making it a favored explorer ship among military veterans who opt to continue flying after their service, many of them having already come to know it’s reliability, ease of repair and never-say-die attitude. The Terrapin has an all-around reputation as a ship that can get travel beyond the most distant jump point… and bring you back safely to civilization. ROLES & SYSTEMS The standard Terrapin explorer is rated for a crew of two, a pilot and a scanner operator (though one can easily fill both positions in most situations.) Terrapin captains often refer to themselves as ‘drivers’ rather than pilots, a nod to the ship’s similarity to a flying tank. An S4 utility mount atop the ship allows for a diverse set of roles. A dish-type scanner is the most commonly installed, as it directly benefits most of the Terrapin’s popular rules (including exploratory scanning, search and rescue tracking and in some cases spaceborne warning and control when outfitted as an armored command ship.) Where most spacecraft designs increase the size of their engines to travel faster, farther or more nimbly, the Terrapin takes the exact opposite approach. Here, an enhanced power planet is used to allow the design as much armor and shielding as possible. The extensive armor lattice should be visible to anyone within range of a Terrapin: ablative sheets three-layers deep protect the top and bottom of the hull, with additional, thick exterior bulkheads to each side. While most famed for its exploits discovering new worlds and rescuing soldiers under fire, the Terrapin is also a fighting ship. The extensive armor combined with the S5 remote turrent mount in the nose has given it a reputation as a ‘flying tank.’ Addition Size 2 laser cannons are also fully configurable. The Terrapin does not usually mount expendable weapons (ballistics or larger missiles) because it is designed to remain self-sufficient without resupply for extended periods of time. Are you interested in learning more about the Terrapin? We have reproduced a vintage United Empire of Earth test pilot manual below. These manuals were created during its initial Naval review period, and they provide extensive details on both the ship’s capabilities and the different missions it is oriented to perform. Specifications and a detailed holoviewer model of the Terrapin can also be found below. VISIT THE TERRAPIN

  13. Hey guys Haven't seen a post about it yet. Four new choices to vote for, for a 3rd Starter ship: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14295-Letter-From-The-Chairman Aegis Terrapin (Tough little nut) -Good for beginner solo mining (if outfitted for such) Anvil Hurricane (Multigun small bore ship- pew pew pew) - Nice for people wanting to go combat focused Drake Dragonfly (Tiny Snub sized ship that is VERY customizable) - This is just so interesting. You don't climb in it as much as you put it on. Quick. Fragile Misc Reliant (Outfitted with alot of Xi'an Tech) - 2 Seater, tech heavy ship. Good for recon and long range. Personally I'm stuck between the Aegis Terrapin (I love tanks) and MISC Reliant. Possibly more leaning towards the Terrapin, but I just can't make up my mind. I'd love to see all four. And Mr Roberts has hinted at the possibly of more coming out later in development. What are your thoughts?
