    Gladius

The Aegis Gladius is the UEE’s reigning light short-range patrol fighter. A single-seat ship with no room for expansion, the Gladius is fast, maneuverable and capable of punching far above its weight. The main advantage to the design is simplicity: cheap to produce, easy to repair and outfit and quick to train new pilots on. The Gladius is an aging design nearing the end of its life-cycle, although iterative updates have kept it the most nimble fighter in the active fleet.

  7. So basically, I've had a 325 for a while and I've been considering upgrading to a Gladius. However, I'm not sure how much better the Gladius is compared to the 325A. I've heard that they changed the flight model for the gladius in 2.5 to make it more of a threat to other ships, so if you've flown either of these recently, I'd very much appreciate it if you shared your thoughts. Thanks for reading- Panda

    Complete Gladius LTI

Looking to sell my LTI Gladius as i'm now rocking with bigger and more trade related vessels. Being that LTI Gladius's are "rare" due to being given LTI after the concept sale, (and then a massive hissy fit by the community afterwards whom passed up the ship) i've been and checked out the price's on ones on reddit and desided to "under cut" what the big sellers are selling them for. $200 to the general public. (Imp members i could discount for) This is the lowest price on the current market via the reddit here This would be a RSI trade inwhich is great for the games developement as more money goes back into the company!

  16. Hey guys! I'm interested in having a breakdown on how the Gladius stacks vis-à-vis the Hornet (inc. Super Hornet, seperately). The Gladius seems like an all around great fighter, with a helluva lot of speed and maneuverability, but a tad light in the weapons department. On the other hand, the Hornet looks like a tremendously effective fighter craft - one that seems to be almost OP in Arena Commander. Am I right in this thinking, and what would repeated dogfighting trials show? As well, what do you think of their current implementation, how it'll be in the future, and what it should be? For bonus brownie points: how does the Gladius fare against other ships currently available in Arena Commander, like the 325a? How about against future ships, like the Vanguard? And other relevant information. For super-duper-recognition-brownie points: what are tips and tricks for flying the Gladius, things to consider, or tactical advice that you might have? Feeling curious, guys. Thanks for playing!
  17. The Official Video: The Experience: Imperium, I welcome you to PAX East! There are eight computers set up in front of the stage for the FPS module. They're being loaded now and someone is doing a fly-through of the level. Gremlich, Isnoth, and I drinking Harpoon and waiting for the info. People are on the stage (Remember folks, drinking and delays don't mix.) ....And Chris Roberts graces our presence!! AC 1.1.0 is on the PTU Adds multiplayer free flight. Unlimited exploration of AC's maps Adds eight landing pads: CIG wants you to try and break it in every way you can. Try and get in each others' ships, etc. Ship Modularity: You can add a gimbal to almost any gun mount but at the cost of -1 to weapon size. REC lasts for seven days of game play time and adds progression in the form of unlocks. Electronic Access was bought out by Original Systems and is now just a digital storefront. You can rent from them using REC. New damage tech: Uses unique textures based on deformation thickness temperature and burn damage. No longer needs predefined damage states. (Video of turning the Gladius into a rocket powered penis) (Video of writing RSI on a Gladius) Chris mentions that this is the ultimate form of tea-bagging someone in space. Check the end -- notice how the ballistic impacts actually transfer their energy into the ship and push it away. Retaliator hangar ready. Queue commercial! (You have no idea how good this looks!) FPS discussion is next up (due in two to three weeks) New animation rig caused some issues which is why FPS is delayed. (Video of new rig and proper gun handling: much better!) In space, wedding tackle is green. Just sayin' Animation goal: to make the world feel real. From zero-g to 1g International Development Software is releasing Space Marine which you'll be able to play in the SimPod. Ablative armor, light armor, and heavy armor shown. Weapons such as a "special" shotgun, sniper rifle, laser-grapple shown. Grenades such as frag, flash, emp shown. FPS will have two arenas in AC to start with: Gold Horizon Station (PAX Australia demo location): 8 v 8 entire environment is destructible Gravity can be changed from Earth normal to zreo-g and back again. Cue Video (They need to get rid of lens flares on the helmet. Seriously) Enders Game battle sphere: 16 v 16 Non-lethal team-based combat Everybody yells, "The Enemies' gate is down!" -(volunteers sit down to demo FPS in zero g.) -(I wish I still lived in Boston. Wait, no I don't.) -Push pull mechanic is awesome. People are walking hand over hand on the obstacles and slinging themselves forward or kicking off backwards. -Nobody is using the grapple to swing. -In space you can lose your helmet. -Go Nick! Disconnects suck. Devs lose 4-3 (One Dev disconnect right at the end, dies AFK) Video of the FPS presentation recorded by GamersNexus: Release schedule shown: Next few months: FPS module (though CR personally said one to two weeks) Social Module (though he said it would release in April) Middle of 2015: Arena Commander 2.0 MultiCrew! End of 2015: First episode of Squadron 42 released Pre-Alpha Persistant Universe. Picture of what you just read: Chris is leaving to go backstage and do an interview for PC Gamer. No more panels. Time to drink and play! PC Gamer Interview courtesy of VoA Edit: free flight week coupon given out. Give it to friends, they can log in download and play without buying anything! PAXEASTFREEFLY2K15 exp 13 Mar 2015 Thanks everybody! We're out! VoA or others, feel free to post others notes below, and I'll incorporate with credit the OP Thanks to CC-Corp , VoA, and LloydM for the additional content and links! CyberianK, I looked for BadNewsBaron but didn't see him. It turns out I had mistaken him for the official videographer!
  18. Well after comparing size the the Gladius is quite smaller then a regular 300i series, and the as far as i know from forum posts the 890 Jump will likely be able to hold a 300i, seeing as we will get a new deck plan and such when its further down the pipeline. my question is, are there any indications on weather or not a Gladius or ship as small or smaller then the 300i will work? id like to travel with the my Gladius in the hangar in case i run into trouble, is there any indication or forum posts that indicates we can transfer ships that fit into corresponding hangars?
  19. VS I was looking at the stats earlier of these two ships, and their specs are somewhat similar (not exactly the same). Obviously each has their strengths and weaknesses. I love both ship designs and will undoubtedly have both in the Persistent Universe, but if you were able to pledge for only one of them which would you pledge for and why? Just a fun thought and discussion thread.
  20. Selling a LTI Gladius Fighter for $135 (fees included). PM me with your verified PayPal email and I will invoice you. Jukebox not included (not giftable). I just like to show this is not an image taken from the web.
  21. Well i was thinking alot about the gladius lately and the reveal and all sorts of people saying Redeemer was to expensive for its role, class, objectives. Till i compared the gladius (90) and the Avenger (60) which are atm both hangar ready. I mean come on the Avenger beats the gladi literally in every part. He has 32 fu cargo space, prison cells and a bed in addition it has far greater upgrade potential too. the gladius "might" only beat the avenger in stealth and armor which atleast in my view arent worth the extra cost of 30 at all. It seems that there is a hidden added price to it like with the redeemer (atleast in my opinion). Well i would ask you then did i miss anything? is it a fair comparison? what makes the Gladius more "worth" then an Avenger? btw: I know stats are in an flow and the info isnt accurate but its all the info we have till now and i doubt CIG just change up the values of the avenger just to sell a more appeasing variant. shields are size 2 for the gladi and size 3 for the avenger.
  22. Question: With the introduction of the Gladius, I'm gleeful about grabbing a few to use as escorts for my trade runs. That has me wondering about one possible "snag" in my grand plans: If I am doing a lengthy cargo run that might result in me hitting the bunk in my hauler, what would happen to my NPC escorts if they were flying wing in something like a Gladius or other ship without a bed? Will they fly to the nearest port while leaving me in space, and rejoin me when I re-login, or will they log out "magically" with or without a bed in their ship, right where I log off? If they will not log out where I log out, would they behave differently flying a ship WITH a bed, i.e. can NPCs similarly "bunk out" like PCs can when flying escort? These are the questions that keep me up at night (adjusting my fleet spreadsheet)! THANKS, as always! Ben's reply: Hello! No worries on this one - ships with beds will not behave differently from ships without them... you'll still have an option to bunk out. Ben
  23. Decided to make a thread dedicated to the Ship Sale/Announcements from RSI's website. As ships get added I'll link them to this page so even if you miss them you can click the link and go back and look at the page. Enjoy! Xi'an Scout Gladius M50
  24. Aegis Gladius Declassified. Greetings Citizens, The Gladius is the United Empire of Earth’s current front-line light fighter, serving against the Vanduul onboard Bengal carriers and elsewhere. Classified UEE Blueprint: Gladius Rear Built by Aegis Dynamics, the Gladius is an older design which has been updated over the years to keep up with modern technology. In military circles, the Gladius is beloved for its performance and its simplicity. A fast, light fighter with a laser-focus on dogfighting, the Gladius is an ideal interceptor or escort ship. Fewer moving parts than the Hornet means new pilots can adapt to the ship more quickly and ground crews can keep them flying more easily. Now, the Gladius is available for civilians! With some Gladius squadrons converting to the wider deployment of the F7C Hornet and the introduction of the F8 Lightning to elite units, the Navy has begun to auction older Gladii to planetary governments and qualified mercenaries. Classified UEE Blueprint: Gladius Cockpit Classified UEE Blueprint: Gladius Cockpit The spacecraft available to civilians are retired military models, with the same specifications and upgrade potential. Classified weapons technologies have been removed from the spaceframes, but they can be outfitted with a variety of civilian-grade weapons. The decommissioning process has also made room for civilian standard upgrades such as jump drives. Gladius Concept Sale!! Aegis Gladius available Built by Aegis Dynamics, the Gladius is an older design which has been updated over the years to keep up with modern technology. Note: This is a concept ship and is currently not flyable in Arena Commander. $80.00 USD Pick yours up fast; the sale ends Friday, July 18th! Please note: this is a concept sale, the Gladius is not yet available in your Hangar. As soon as the in-game model is finished, it will be added to the Hangar and then Arena Commander! Your purchase goes to support Star Citizen’s development and it does not promise a special advantage in the finished game; any ship available through the RSI website will also be earnable in the finished game. What is the Gladius? The Gladius was built by the team at Foundry 42, designed to take part in Squadron 42’s epic single-player campaign. In Star Citizen’s persistent universe, the Gladius will be a fast, light fighter capable of dogfighting with the best of them. The Gladius exists solely thanks to our backers: funding to add the Gladius to the game was made available to the team with the $42 million stretch goal! Why sell the Gladius? The short answer is that it’s because we want to dogfight with it! We showed the Gladius on an episode of Around the Verse and the reaction seemed to be very positive. With our current focus on dogfighting and the Gladius being fast-tracked for development to meet Squadron 42’s needs, it seemed like a win-win situation to offer it to backers who would prefer a more military experience as Arena Commander expands! The broader answer is that sales like this help keep Star Citizen’s development going strong! The team currently employs over 260 people around the world building the Best Damn Space Sim Ever; continuing to expand the game means offering ships like the Gladius to those who are interested in further supporting the project.
