Aegis Reclaimer

The Carrack is the one advertising repair facilities - but it's set to be 3/8ths the size.

I expect the Carrack's repair facilities are for self-repair, because an exploration ship would need to be able to repair itself out in deep space, because there probably aren't going to be friendly space stations or Search-&-Rescue support out on the frontier or in Vanduul space.

Whereas the Reclaimer will be able to repair other ships in space -- and itself, presumably -- and will be much better equipped for salvage and repairs.

Says right on their website it ends on the 5th doesn't it?

It actually says right on the RSI website that the sale ends on October 6th

Yep, my apologies for that, i was just working on the basis of it being the usual fri-fri sale. At $350 i think it most definitely warrants an extra few days to allow everyone a little extra time to get their finances in order.

That certainly looks plausible, but that seems far more advanced in terms of progress than i was expecting them to be at (tbh, i was extremely surprised they even had a 3D model to put into the holoviewer), after all we havent even seen anything like this for my darling Starfarer, and the same can be said for ships like the Banu MM & 890 Jump, which are from the previous wave of concept ships. The Jump has only just had concept art shown.

reclaimer_cockpit_scale.jpg

Just done a rough measurement, the width of the ship (95mtr) is 1875px wide in the original (1875 ÷ 95mtr = 19.7px per meter), and the cockpit frame measures 55-63px, so it'd put it at a pretty solid 3 meters wide. I'd say the internal looks more like 5 meters wide, the 2 black flooring areas are wider than 1m IMO, and the cockpit frame is wider than the internal space.

Its possible, but im not 100% convinced. Its hard to really judge scale & perspective.

- edit -

I've just used the holoviewer to try to judge the scale of various parts of the ship to narrow it down, and i make it about 1.7m wide for the cockpit enclosure.

Thats based on the front face being just under 10m wide, and i believe that cockpit sneak peak is at least 4m wide. It looks more like a single seat fighter or gunner seat type window too, rather than a flight deck.

Thats not to say it cant be the Reclaimer, but IMO theres more to suggest it isnt, even if i cant think of a better suggestion for what it could be the cockpit of, let alone one that matches the shape in that concept art. The progress seems too far along (particularly for a non-combat, non-SQ42 ship), and the scale seems wrong.

@Sparkie

thats because most bridge designs are looking the same and cant be made too  different without letting it look more alien alike.

Since CIG sticks mostly with Bars and Window type of Bridges for the Humans as a design preference its clearly why it reminds you of the connie :3.

Oh and btw the Reclaimer cockpit reminds me  of a Crane cockpit and not the inserted picture there from the looks its hard to say what it is. For me atleast the picture that is blockedout doesnt really look like a bridge, it looks more like an abservation Deck. Maybe even with a Map holotable in the middle atleast that structure there looks like some sort of table and beds around it wich would too speak from a design perspective thats it is no bridge.

Since you wouldnt mix busy bridge with sleeping quarters, atleast from my pov.

This leads me to my conclusion its probably from the Carrack.

A lot of people think it could be the bridge, I still think it could be the Carrack.

I agree that the interior isn't the Reclaimer's bridge.

Firstly, I don't think that glass canopy is for the entire bridge; it's probably just for the pilot. The side turrets are Class-4 unmanned turrets; the one on top is the Class-5. Based on that, only a single person could fit inside that glass canopy -- it's definitely not as wide as the room in the interior model.

Second, the interior doesn't appear to be a bridge at all -- it's more like an observation room or meeting room. I'm uncertain what the object is in the middle of the room (the colored lines overwrite part of it, obscuring its silhouette). Is it a table? But there are no chairs. Is it a work bench or operating table? But there's no equipment on it or nearby. And I agree with Minted that it wouldn't make sense to have beds on the sides of a capital ship's bridge.

I hope it's not the Carrack's bridge. Again, I wouldn't want sleeping berths on the bridge. It's also too empty to be a bridge -- unless this is a really early model without chairs or consoles or anything. But that seems unlikely because the sleeping berths have a fair bit of detail, so it seems unlikely that the bridge would be empty.

I believe that room is either for a smaller ship, where space is a premium so beds have to be attached to the bridge; or it's for a very large ship, that has plenty of space for an observation room or rec room in the crew's quarters. This could be an interior room of an Idris Frigate or Javelin Destroyer -- just not the bridge.

@VoA Your post adds zero information to this discussion, actually it's only promoting another post made by you.

Look at my post again please --->>

The discussion is about the Aegis Reclaimer... and it evolved into a discussion about getting a grasp on how big the ship is...... per the previous post.....

This is a really useful picture to get an idea of just how big this ship is; 17qwhx.png

My post and link also show the size comparison to a Real Life comparison of the Aegis Reclaimer so people can get an idea of how big the ship is.

Your Reclaimer is slightly longer than the Yamal nuclear-powered icebreaker

RIAN_archive_455427_Nuclear_ice-breaker_

Also just curious.....  what is the relevance of a higher post count - its meaningless isn't it ?

I know stats are in flux, but does anyone think the 6 x TR5 main thrusters are way to small for this ship?

The Connie has 4 x TR5s and the engine nacelle if the Reclaimer is the same size of the entire Connie...

Going by the stats, the Connie is going to be one quick ship, or the Reclaimer is going to be a snale...

The Connie was always suppose to be fast and maneuverable relative to its size.  The Reclaimer is suppose to be a snail of a ship (per Ben too on RTV) in terms of speed but notice that the Main Thruster rotate even more than the Connie (to allow for maneuvering into position for salvaging).   This is why you should "usually" fly escort fighters with a Reclaimer.

Well I just got this baby, on top of the Banu and my Starfarer tanker

At this rate, I'm only missing an Idris (and I won't buy one, come what may :) ) , but this is getting expensive

Thanks for all the great pictures, I was not sure I'd get this 1 too, and now am glad I did

Since I'm trade and industry, and fleet support / bomber ( retaliator) , I'm getting all the freighters, tankers, miners etc that come out....

I'm close to $ 3,000 now, and I'm not finished yet. This game better get released, or else. :)

Take care all

Jean
