Constellation - Variants

Recommended Posts

It was confirmed today on the Base Radio interview that these Images that Sandi has been leaking out are not the 890 Jump.  Sandi said it was the "Luxury" Constellation Variant  :gr_pimp:  - but we don't know if that will be the name of the variant.  This image below also shows definitively that it is a Constellation.   My guess is that this will be a "Limited Edition Variant"  like the Freelancer MIS.  I think this Variant will modify the Hull of the ship slightly - you can see the sloped walls and sloped air-locks + that awesome skylight  .  I am hoping that they have special missions set up for transporting "important / powerful / high society people - NPCs or Player" as a mission set (that could be risky - fraught with potential pirate attacks for ransom - and potentially also requiring escort) ---- for the Luxury Connie and the 890 Jump.

Ben ... also mentioned today that the next two commercials and Variants will be for the Constellation and Cutlass.  The new show "In the Verse" hinted that his is a David Hobbins (Designer)  - design and that in next week's episode that he will talk about this and the Mustang.

Thanks for posting the original and the 'LX' images below eachother. I knew something didn't look right in the LX and now I see it's because of the wierd lens they used; making the LX appear as if it is a lot bigger. But the off-center airlocks now poke through the illusion. :P

Still a nice little space yacht though, but I still think I am going to upgrade my Rear Admiral Constellation to a Retaliator when the Chross-Chassis upgrade for that one is released (depending on the final weapon loadout and potential to install a torpedo launcher) :)

Don´t worry. The P52 has been moved to the back of connie.

The VIP could use the P52 as an emergency escape vehicle (even though it doesn't have long range - still a good life boat).

What would be really cool is if the Luxury Connie's P52 was a variant P52.... and perhaps with a Jump Engine (faster but with no weapons)....

This is really changing my viewpoint and ideas for my role in SC.

I'm really going to have to give this some thought before I go buying up ships.

I like the luxury Connie....just can't decide which direction I want to go in SC.

I'm a little bit concerned about the price politics CIG runs into atm. I mean many of us spent 220 Euro (or dollars of course) to get the "basic" constellation. When the variants came out I'm sure they will handle it like they did it with the freelancer variants. 20 dollars more to upgrade to this variant. 30 dollars more to that variant etc.

Then label the last one "limited" and so the crazyness start over again.

For me this kind of business is starting to feel "greedy".

They should offer all variants (with every pro and cons) for the same price and let the people choose what fits best for them....

The hard fate of being an early pledger.

Nobody expected SC would come so far when the basic models were distributed.

The whole game evolves over time and bringing out variants of our loved ships has costs, in time and money.

Late backers can choose what suits them best, but me, being an early backer, will shed no tear over 20$ because I see
how much work(and love) is committed to the ships.

And oddly I am proud what CIG achieved with my(if little) help...;)

I hope they allow all cross platform upgrades once semi final specs are known and not just of the OB ships. A lot of ships are changing specs quite dramatically and I think they should give backers a chance to change their LTI ships to other LTI ships.

I intend to keep my connie unless they really screw it up but I might melt my SH for a retaliator if I don't like the way it handles.

Maybe we can turn the lux connie into a brothel with high class prostitutes like in firefly ;-) this could be the most lucrative business in SC.

I am thinking luxury black market merchant boat that no F's with because I'm with Imperium :)

High Dollar - Aquired goods

I really like the brothel idea too....maybe I can incorparate that in some how.

SO many options....so little time

I certainly hope they add in a full range of cross platform transfers...I can certainly see myself changing my mind on what ships I want.

Maybe I should pick up a Caterpillar and change roles entirely.

I can't decide what I want to do anymore. I had an idea but now I am not sure. I may keep my main idea and just expand on it.

The Nice thing about Star Citizen is that you can do everything and anything --- you don't have to "pigeon hole" yourself into one type of play (you can swap equipment around or simply get more ships for different needs) ---- don't stress over it ;)

I’m super excited about those Constellation variants. I’m especially happy that we will be getting at least 4 different variants, maybe more:

Currently on deck: the Constellation. We’re due to complete 2 versions in early June and finish up the other variants by end of June.

So the interesting question is: What kind of variants will we get?
  • The luxury variant has basically been confirmed by Sandi
  • I think a Space Superiority variant is a pretty safe bet, too, considering that this had been listed as the Constellation’s role for a long time
  • I could also imagine a smuggling variant (officially being a light freighter), considering the references to the Millennium Falcon
  • an exploration variant maybe?

Any other thoughts?
