Anhard
Is it just me, or this ship looks like this? I heard that SC liked fish, even dead ones. Big vers like aquarium with lots of fishies! Morgenroete and GeraldEvans
Inkarnus
Well i would be a bit more carefull with the Hull series remember C-E can just use orbital sellingpoints so the planet needs to have them where as all the other ships can LAND with there cargo todate i guess thats how they make them balanced in a way. For the C-E i expect that the cargo to profit rate is low for a-b and every other hauling ship i expect it that it can be high since they can make planetfall and specialdeliveries on frontier planets and are not so dependend on escorts then a hull c-e they will be a pirate magnet! Nevermore
How long does the concept sale last? If you'd like to add one to your fleet, they're available in the pledge store until Monday May 4th. You can also view a detail of the ship in the Tech Overview of the ship page! Pinto
Nameless
So either they changed something about the thruster or it takes a lot of force to move such amounts of cargo. Looking at the Javelin and the Hull C-E, the Javelin has more thruster, but the Hull-C uses solely TR-8 and the Javelin a mix between TR-4 and TR-7. Of course they could have changed the Javelin's thrusters by now, but who knows. Since they no longer update all ship specs and yet the sale started later because of thruster rating... Terran587
According to the Hull A Q&A, the Hull B and E are supposed to be direct upgrades to the Hull A and D, respectively. Frankly, I'm curious about the Banu Merchantman given its projected abilities seem too good to be true in light of the Hull series. It carries vastly more than a Hull B, yet is capable of planetary landings fully laden? And it has a store? And its relatively similar in both size and carrying capacity to a Hull C? Wait, it carries even MORE than a Hull C? I have a feeling we're going to see some rather sobering changes in the Banu Merchantman's capabilities before it's release. Wait, it carries even MORE than a Hull C? I have a feeling we're going to see some rather sobering changes in the Banu Merchantman's capabilities before it's release. I agree that the SCU numbers for the Banu Merchant vs. the Hull C don't seem logical, because the Hull C carries its cargo externally, whereas the BMM somehow has to fit its cargo inside the hull -- and we know the internal layout of the BMM isn't 100% devoted to cargo. I think the likely explanation is that the Banu Merchantman is larger than its current specs state, probably 150+ metres long. CIG has probably increased the BMM's size during the ship design and development process, but hasn't released the up-to-date information yet, because they always without that information until a milestone, like a ship variants brochure release, or when the ship is Hangar and/or AC-ready. I believe CIG is basing the BMM's 9800 SCU cargo capacity on the ship's revised size. VoA
Rain2reign
“Is the Discreet not an option now? Is that role for the Caterpillar or a MISC future design?” The Hull C Discreet is still in the cards for the finished game! It will include specialized containers to support it’s ‘Q-ship’ purpose. “Is the discreet model a separate variant or something you can make yourself with modules?” The latter! Although per the fiction, MISC will offer the Discreet ‘purpose built’ in the finished game universe. Directly from the VoA
Zandrake
I forgot about the Discrete thing. I am interested in finding out how they are working that in. I have seen a couple of posts about trying to conceal cargo in a Hull and I suppose that will be their answer.
Reavern
“Is the discreet model a separate variant or something you can make yourself with modules?” The latter! Although per the fiction, MISC will offer the Discreet ‘purpose built’ in the finished game universe. Based on the wording of this answer, it seems like CIG won't be releasing a Discreet variant model upgrade for the Hull C (or any Hull series ships) until the retail PU game launch. Meaning that in 6-12 months there isn't going to be a $50 upgrade that backers can purchase that will convert a Hull C into a Hull C Discreet. If that's the case, I'm probably going to melt my Hull C and mod my Banu Merchantman for smuggling instead. The only reason I bought the Hull C was because I thought the Discreet smuggling model would be available to buy, so I could in theory engage in smuggling on Day 1 of the PU. If I have to wait until the PU launches to mod my hauler ship, then I'd rather mod my BMM and not even bother with a Hull ship. Because I don't need two hauler ships that can carry virtually the same amount of cargo and can both be modded for smuggling. I think the only reason why I might keep the Hull C is if the modularity options offer something distinctive, like a blockade runner or an armoured transport suitable for rearming/refueling/resupplying warships in battle. insomnia_shipping
I could be wrong, but what I took from the Q&A is that components make the ship discreet. If you want a completely discreet Hull-C, then you'll want low signature thrusters, ballistic (presumably powder-fired) weapons, low signature shields, upgraded scanner, and crates with hidden, scanner-shielded compartments along with room for visible cargo. The way I imagine it, shielded compartments would look like empty space on a scanner, as if the crate isn't completely filled. To anybody looking, a Hull-C being used to smuggle would scan like any other Hull-C because it would simultaneously be used for ordinary shipments. It's hard to further speculate about this without knowing the mechanics for players in a law enforcement role.

I doubt it's about hiding the entire ship, but rather hiding in plain sight by concealing the exact amount, nature, and legality of items being transported. NewzyOne
The thing about the C over a Banu is that it's likely the C (definitely the D and E) is able to use some of it's modularity (which I think means you can mount essentially an extra "operable room" via large containers) to install extra shields, electronic warfare components, etc. Does this justify melting a Banu for a C? I very much wouldn't. But if you're doing it the other way around, like you say, I can't imagine it'll end badly. The Banu MM is a class act, and the C is "the most common ship in the 'verse".. nothing really lost there. Besides, a Banu will get you a C pretty fast, but a C will only get you the funds to buy a Banu - finding a MM and making a successful purchase is an entirely different matter. FoxChard
I seriously doubt that a Banu will get much competition with regards to spaces that can be manned in flight. Without going EVA, how will a crewman move from the manned 'cab' of the HULL base ship into the compartment that was attached to the ship? Its conceivably possible on a D or an E, but definitely not on a C. If you want to have an all purpose ship, don't buy a HULL. If you want a ship to recreate your Space Opera dreams on, buy a Banu or Connie or Freelancer (for those who don't get claustrophobic). The HULL was optimized for one thing, sure, you might be able to mod it into something other than a trader-but why? There'll probably be a ship for most niche markets out there by the time the game releases-just get that instead.
Pinto
The C, has explained by them, will have a crawling space on the "tube" while both the D and the E will have a corridor where you can walk. NewzyOne
