MISC Hull C (Discreet)

I agree with this guy and think (hope at least) that the HULL-C will end up hauling far more than 9,000 FU (they likely need to revisit all the cargo capacities for all ships again - enjoy

I'm certain that the Hull C will haul more than 9,000 FU.

We know from the Constellation that CIG changed how cargo capacity is calculated, because the base model Constellation Andromeda went from 480 to 1100 FU, but none of the other ships have had their cargo capacities re-balanced yet. The strange thing is that the Cutlass and 890 Jump have been released since the new Freight Unit system of measurement was adopted, but based on their low cargo numbers, it seems like they're using the old system of measurement, because there's no way that the Cutlass has 1/10th the cargo capacity of the Andromeda, or the 890 Jump has less cargo capacity than the Taurus. Ben Lesnick has emphatically stated that the Constellation models cargo capacities are correct, which presumably means the other ships haven't been re-balanced compared to the Constellations.

Considering that the Constellation Andromeda has 1100 FU and the Hull C's specs say it has 9,000 FU, I think it's obvious that the Hull C's cargo capacity specs are too low. Considering that the Reclaimer can carry 20,000 FU of salvage and is 70 metres shorter and half the mass of the Hull C, I estimate that the Hull C will have a cargo capacity of 30,000 FU (or more) -- because the Andromeda's cargo capacity nearly tripled when it was updated for the brochure release, which probably means that cargo capacity will triple across the board.

I think despite its enormous size, the Hull D and E will be modeled and possibly set up specifically to make targets for piracy. They've said pirates would be able to jam signals, and perhaps even sneak on board (how they'll do this in flight they haven't mentioned) and jetison cargo without the captain knowing. So it will be modeled on the inside to allow them to have a goal (that isn't noob-looting) and give us a mission for escorting and defending.

Too bad T&I can't own a few though...

This is just a guess, but I'm thinking that the MISC Hull series is actually a relatively small ship/cabin with a series of ever increasing (in size) frameworks and engines... the difference between the various models (beyond slightly larger crew cabins to accommodate slightly larger crews) will be frameworks and engines...  the bigger series (E & D) will look substantially similar to the smaller models but will be differentiated by larger engines and scaffolding or some other cargo attachment methodology...  each larger model will allow you to carry/attach more and more (and even more) standard modules, and larger and larger engines will allow you to provide enough thrust to actually move them.

This lines up with a number of hints that we've been given so far....  BUT the flaw in this theory is the MISC Hull C (Discreet)...  I'm not sure how (using a system like this) you would actually have the ability to have "advanced sensor shadow technology, quick-decompress holds and a variety of hidden compartments"

Either way though, I guess we'll all know in less than 12(ish) hours!

Aye, just as ugly as it needs to be to get the job done.

Personally I love it, not going to buy anything more than a hull a, but I still love the concepts, pretty much as I'd envisioned it(minus the ability to retract its spindles and I had expected the cargo to be distributed along more length and height/beam)

The Hull C looks better than I thought it would, especially when the cargo section is contracted, like for landing on planets. I actually think it looks better than the Freelancer. :)

I think CIG devised a brilliant system for adjusting the Hull series' cargo capacity in a variable but consistent way.

The only problem I have with the Hull C is how will the Discreet smuggling variant model work? Because the cargo pods are all carried externally, so how can there be sensor shielded smuggling compartments? The only way I can imagine it would work is if certain cargo pods were sensor shielded. But couldn't ANY hauler ship simply use sensor-shielded cargo containers?

I hope CIG clarifies how smuggling will work with the Hull C (Discreet) -- or IF there will be a dedicated smuggling variant of the Hull C after all. Because if the Hull C (Discreet) model isn't specially equipped for smuggling, and any hauler ship can refit for smuggling, then I'd rather use my Banu Merchantman than the Hull C. :P

I don't think we'll end up getting a specific "discreet" variant, more like the modular components to build one(they may eventually end up having a special Discreet sale with said components, who knows).  My guess is that the sensor shielding will be dependent on power, whether in the Hull C or other cargo vessels, a special cargo hold lining or cargo pod that plugs into the ship's power grid and interferes/blocks/lies to scanners.  If i'm correct(and I could be wrong as hell) then any given ship's suitability for smuggling would depend on the power required to shield its hold/cargo boxes relative to its power generation capacity.  If the Banu Merchantman has a couple really big holds you may only be able to shield one or two of them, while the much smaller(but more numerous) cargo containers on the Hull C would individually require less power to shield, giving you the ability to scatter a decent number of contraband containers among your decoy load of legitimate cargo.

Heresy!!!

I agree they are not very ugly, but not as beauty as the Freelancer. ;)  :P

Although the stronger points of MISC aren't the beauty in the ships, but the reliability on getting the job done. (no I am not a seller from MISC! )

Would have been nice if they told us the length of the ships when the cargo area is retracted.  I grabbed a C, D & E, but I still think they're hideous.. :P

If the cargo pods rotated similar to the Orion I'd like 'em more perhaps; to have them at diagonals rather than straight up and across.
