After all these years, I'm finally able to spawn the Carrack in my hangar.

With the inclusion of the Carrack in the Lunar Sale, I've been going back and forth on whether to CCU up to the Carrack again.  Do I melt my Hercules C2 (CCU'ed from an Aquila) and pick up the Carrack?  I would lose a large cargo ship, but gain something that would be a great mobile "home base" including the newly released medical bed gameplay.  I like the thought of being able to travel to multiple systems with a small "shuttle", but able to spawn from that ship if I happen to die too.  But there's also a lot of pros and cons discussed on Spectrum that makes me unsure too as well as I'm not that totally sold on exploration--it'd be a glorified cargo ship with the ability to spawn from death and take a smaller craft with me.

I have the funds in ships currently to CCU to the Carrack if I melted everything except for my Hornet FC7M.  So, what do you all think?  Are you sticking with the Carrack?

Are you close to Concierge? If so you might consider getting the $695 UEE Exploration 2948 Pack as that one is currently still available. :)

This pack (and the Mega version) may be removed soon though as it now offers a ridiculous discount compared to the 'value' of the ships in that pack ($960); especially now that the Carrack went from $350 to $500. It also comes with LTI, 20k UEC, SC + SQ42 game packages, and you can buy it with Store Credit. :)

I'm not at concierge level (that's if spent $1,000+, right?) otherwise I'd probably look at getting it.

I am sticking with mine. Got it during concept sales all those years ago. I think it is an excellent ship. However there is the matter of no elevator for the snub craft 😔. it kinda erks me when some ships have one ( some ships have several ).

Looked at the numbers and I'm no where near getting to concierge level making the Explorer pack out of reach.  So I went ahead and created a CCU from the C2 to the Carrack.  I'm still not yet sure which one I want to fly, so now I have the choice (so long as I don't apply the Carrack CCU till I get to fly the C2).

I actually haven't even applied my Aquila-to-C2 CCU yet either.  Never been a fan of the MISC Starfarer, and the Aquila has been so much easier to operate in the last several Alpha versions.

A few days ago I was on a Reddit thread where people were talking about the Carrack. Turns out the UEE Exploration pack became visible to people once they reached $750 pledged.

So if you're close to $750 that pack might still be an option as apparently I was wrong and you don't have to be full Concierge ($1000 pledged) to have it become available. :)

If you send a polite letter saying you want to donate money they will make every multi-ship package visible.  I could see every package (including completionist) for about a year, and I'm still not concierge.

I thought about reaching out to support and getting access to those packs, but before doing so I've been weighing whether I would actually buy the explorer pack or not.  If I melted everything I have and with a little bit more pledge I could get the $695 pack, but doing so means I'd lose my Hercules C2 CCU.  The C2 is one of the ships I most interested in trying before I make the jump to the Carrack.  So although it's an amazing deal, I think I'm going to pass.

Well, I don't know if you happen to have any old $0 Vanguard-to-Merchantman CCUs lying around as apparently those were never removed when Turbulent activated their "$0 CCU removal script". :P

You see; I still have a $10 Merchantman-to-Hercules CCU in my Hangar. I'd be perfectly fine to gift it to you as I have another in my BuyBack. That would give you the option to upgrade that Terrapin in the Explorer pack to a Warden at some point and from there to a C2. Just let me know as I'm just offering options. ;)

That would be pretty awesome!  Unfortunately, I never picked up the $0 CCU's from Vanguard--Merchantman (even though I did at one point have a Vanguard).  The Merchantman never really interested me.  So in order to get to that level I'd need to pledge quite a bit more--which I don't think I'm in a position to do--to be able to use your $10 CCU.  But, that is VERY generous of you to offer, and I appreciate it greatly!

No problem! I figured I'd check for alternatives just in case to see if there might be a way for you to get both a Carrack while still being able to get a Hercules without it costing you a kidney. :P

It's a shame those $0 Vanguard-to-Merchantman CCUs can't be gifted as I still have two of those in my Hangar as well. :(

At any rate, if at some point you want that Merchantman-to-Hercules CCU just let me know. Who knows; you might come across someone with a giftable Andromeda-to-Merchantman CCU for cheap or something as the Terrapin can be upgraded to an Andromeda for only $5. :)

hmmm, I'm wondering are the three modules still be swapped out. Another thing, is the vehicle hanger re-stricted to be there as Just had a thought that if you drop down (the modules) and then takes off and any person who  was on the rover is trapped in the hanger.

I'd be interested when they are released for us to "test" 😁

Patch 3.8.2 has hit the PTU...

No mention of the Carrack though, but the Devs seem to really like introducing new ships in the PU recently by flying them up to unsuspecting players and hovering around teasing them (like they did with the Mantis and Argo Mole).  Can't wait to see more!

New engine layout shown during ISC today.

I think it looks good; at least the thrusters now look more proportial in size compared to the size of the ship in my opinion. The ones shown during Citizencon looked too small for some reason; like someone slapped fighter thrusters on a corvette.

I think the horizontal layout is also much better than the wierd diagonal split layout of the Citizencon version where the housing around the thrusters also had a wierd shape that didn't line up with the rest of the rear. Not sure how to describe it properly but the whole thruster arrangement on the Citizencon version felt rather tacked on and messy while this new version feels much cleaner and orderly.

Getting a little bit of Star Destroyer feel from this new version. :)

Maybe they saw my post on the forums about just making the thrusters bigger :)

Who knows :P

At any rate I like how they took the original concept design and combined it with the larger round thrusters. Also feels like the thrusters are positioned properly now with all that center of mass to thrust stuff that they always talked about. The old diagonal layout made it look like the ship would nosedive when firing the thrusters. :)

      Who are we?
Originally created at the release of Planetside back in 2003, BRTD is one of the most successful and active communities throughout the games history. Our focus is to create a fun, casual, and rewarding environment for all our members while ensuring we have the ability to knuckle down and get serious when necessary. These ideals have given way for our mantra; "Have fun and get shit done". We are now expanding our community into the Star Citizen universe looking for like minded players to join us.
Structure - Two Organisations, Working Together
Due to the diversity of careers Star Citizen will provide, we have opted to create two separate organisations. These orgs will focus on different aspects of the game while also being able to support each other. We want to give our members the option to be fluid with how they play, these two orgs will allow us to cover a large majority of available careers in an organised fashion. Jumping between the two at any time is permitted.
         -   Better Red Than Dead
Private Military Company - Planetary & Space Based Military Operations Anti-Piracy/Vanduul Militia Trade & Logistics Industry  BRTD will be our main branch carrying on our militaristic history from Planetside. Primarily acting as both a Private Military Company and anti-Vanduul/anti-piracy Militia during non-contracted periods. It will also have secondary ties to conducting trade and establishing logistical and industrial networks. All fighter pilots, tank commanders, riflemen, drop ship gunners, cargo loaders, asteroid miners, and long-distance space truckers are welcome to join BRTD!

         -   Silverwolf
Exploration Science/Research Outpost & Colony Construction Surveillance & Reconnaissance  Silverwolf will be our organisation for the less combat-intensive roles in Star Citizen. The organisation's primary mission is exploration; going out into the great unknowns of the universe and making them known. If you have a passion for discovery, a thirst for knowledge, the will to expand humanity's frontiers, and a low tendency for psychotic breakdowns after months of solitude while lost in space - You have a home in Silverwolf
