Trading vessels need to be large to keep a lot of goods in supply, and the bigger the better. We know that the Xi'an have large cargo ships, but I think that the Merchantman is the largest Banu vessels we know of able to haul cargo (so far)

Just in from CIG -

2017.04.20 - The BANU Merchantmen is now $300, ahead of it returning to the store for 10 days starting April 21st.

CIG did a "Stealth" Price Increase in one day ...... on 4/20/17 it was increased from $250 to $300 and I confirmed this checking my CCU prices (not going to CCU - just checking)....... and now with the Defender sale it increased another $50 to $350 on 4/21/17

It's always been like that from what concepts I've seen over the years.  The bottom part extends out in flight (for whatever reason) and only comes up for landing.  If you look at the old concepts you'll see the boxes are visible there too.

Oh My GOD, i've been waiting for this price increase so LONG!

i stored dozens of redeemer to merchantman upgrades for free that now i can gather :P

that's a $300 "gift" from CIG.

One will stay a merchantman, one will become an endeavour, and the last one a carrack :) (for FREE !)

great day!

It's so weird having had a massive break fro m this game to come back to the current concept art for the merch. Am I the only one a little disappointed design wise? Original art made it look more.. merchanty I guess?

I agree that the design style now seem more sleek and simple, and it's not bad, but I'd certainly prefer the old style with the dark 'mesh' and spikes. I guess they are giving 'spikes' exclusively to the Vanduul, eh.

hmmm, that size can be a problem as a blockade runner, and Im going to need escorts then, So i hope it wont be that big

@blackbeard, actually it does need to be a lot bigger than originally concepted. Pls check out the latest atv where they discribe the banu as nomatic bedowin traders who carry all their worldy possessions, as well as trade goods with them. Taking this new fact into account along with the fact these ships have an onboard show room and guest reception/meeting room and the designers will need a lot of room to work with...

Im thinking this ship will double in size from the original specs

On another note, regarding CCUs, keep in mind, if you have a van-bmm or redeem-bmm that will bring you up to the 350 mark. And as mentioned above i agree the BMM will increase in price again by a likely $50 when hanger ready but heres the caveat; what ships are currently at the 400 range? Once the bmm has passed the 350 point you cant go back but must wait for the desired ship to catch up...

I plan to do as amy baby suggests and use this price hike to save on my industrial fleet and then also generate more equity once those ships in turn go up. My only hope at this point is nothing with the bmm price will change before i can get my bmm - X upgrades to make this all work and realize the savings.

HO YAA IT A BIG BOY...

At least there offering it Again w the defender, slash 2pac...w LTI  .that seams cool.and any one how had one the value goes up a lot....

Now I can see it carrying 9k tons of goods. The defender with its long range...will be used  heavy combined w an warden.could do a lot of damage.

I wonder if 1 defender could fit in the merchant man.

So...it's pretty big then. 230 long, 297 wide.cc685297b537b5250b66276095e85244.jpg

can you say "behemoth"!!!! i think it's very appropriate as the new name for the BMM = Banu Behemoth

I'm sure in a week or so CIG will come back and say it was all a scaling error and the ship is only marginally bigger than its original concept.

Nope. Disco apparently confirmed in chat that it got pretty damn big.

BMM CCU's, but with the speculated concept size of this beast, even $350 seems like a steal.
Inb4 $450-500 come flight ready-status.

I think you're in the ball park but think Hull E ($550) then add the alien price factor and we could be looking at $600-750 when flight ready.you heard it hear first

p.s. the Idris is 238.5m long... the new MM is the same length and twice as wide as the idris... it's a Banu Frigate!!! just kidding

For $700+ I'd want the Banu version of the Hull-E, not the Hull-C. ;p

I guess the caveat being that the BMM has its cargo storage interally while the Hull E is external therefore you could never have a straight comparison between these two hauler type. Additionally you have to add value to the fact the BMM will have estate quality (albeit alien) meeting room, accommodations, mess hall, and on board market whereas the HUll ships simply have their cargo strapped to the outside with utilitarian amenities. Maybe $700 is too high but not out of the question when you take into consideration current trends in CIG pricing.

this is a fun thread!!!!
