Xi'an Scout - Khartu-al (export model)

The Xi'an scout is my only small ship (2 or less seats) the LTI really make me proud to own one now :D

I belief its going to be a very unique flying style in that ship and the (afaik) 6 guns (2x class 1 size 4 and 4x size 2 class 2)  should be enough power to 'dance' with the better dogfighters.

Yeh it is going to be my light escort and scout. The visibility and manoeuvrability will make it fun and effective I think.

I currently have the M50, 350R, Gladius, Hornet, and Xi'An Scout as my smaller fighters (not counting my Gladitator since its a bomber).  I love all of these ships but I am more likely to Melt my M50 and 350R (for the new Concept Ships).  I'll upgrade my LTI Hornet to a Super Hornet.... and my LTI Gladius to a Retaliator (CCU).

That will leave me my Xi'An Scout (LTI).... as my sole light fighter (at least that's the plan) ---- it is really one of my favorite ships in the game and would never melt it.

same here, but the only LTI ship that i have is on the Khartu.... considering to CCU that to an andromeda so my phoenix can enjoy the LTI though.

I think this is a wise choice.  The Phoenix is my favorite ship (and has many more mission options)....... but if you love the Xi'An Scout you may want to pick up another one after your CCU.  Remember LTI is negligible (people think it actually matters and it really doesn't).  About 2/3rds of my ships have LTI but I have no intent or feel the need to CCU or grey market purchase the ones I have that are non-LTI ... to LTI (I see it as a waste of money to do so).

what's more, i reckon many players would be competing to obtain those hulls so prices may fluctuate alot...

^goes the same for the phoenix as well, with them being even more limited than the khartus

I don't think that's true. To my understanding (and I could be way off base) different ships will remain limited upon release of the PU but different hulls and variants will be purchasable (though not easily) piecemeal throughout the verse. So it won't be a one click buy, but it won't be you searching out a phoenix abandoned at the edge of the universe either.

Every ship will be available in the PU - but the ease of purchasing them will vary drastically.  The Vanduul Scythe can be purchased but not from a manufacturer (only from other players that salvage them and repair them from ones captured).  The Xi'An Scout won't have to be captured but you may have to fly to Xi'An space to get to the manufacturer.  The MISC manufacturer may be able to get you one - but there maybe a long wait time.  Phoenix should be a little easier but even these may take a huge lead time since it would be a "custom" order from RSI (manufacturer)... and probably very expensive (more so than what we were able to purchase it for).  In contrast... take the Aurora... which you can walk into a show room and find many to choose from with frequent sales, etc...

*** This is an important enough topic to have its own thread... since it may affect how people pledge and if they are considering melting ships to buy the new concept ships.

We will be able to fly our Xi'An Khartu-Al in AC.... but  sadly.... it will "probably" be the last of the single seater fighters to be able to fly in AC (do to its complexity to model / damage states as well).  I think it will be my "Dog-Fighting" ship of choice.... even over my Hornet and Gladius.  The only one that may give my Xi'An Khartu-Al a "run-for-for-the-money"... in being my most fun / favorite - Dogfighter will be my M50 (but still think I'll like the Xi'An Khartu-Al better).

isn't the Khartu-al a 2-seater ship?

It is a two seater ship but it may end up in the batch of single seater ships for those that will be flyable in AC.  The Cutlass and Super Hornet for instance are not single seater ships - but may end up in the early batch of flyable ships (and not be considered as a Multi-Crew ship) even though technically they are.   As I mentioned above - the Xi'An Khartu-Al will be one of the more difficult ships to balance though (so this factor may push it back in terms of being able to fly early on in AC).

oh, wait uh. so i just realised or am I wrong, the Khartu can be used to explore as well?

Any ship (except for the P52 and P72) can be equipped with a jump drive, additional scanners, etc... so yes the Khartu-Al could make for an excellent exploration vessel - especially if you want to explore into Xi'An space without potentially igniting and "cold war" tensions.

I know it was mentioned on release but I haven't heard anything on it and it seems like it was scrapped. Wasn't there a bed? Exploration seems pointless in a ship without a bed. You can't stray too far from a cap ship or hangar. So if this thing doesn't have a bed I'd say it's no better an exploration ship than a Hornet.

I believe it was said somewhere that you don't need a bed to log out anymore.  Probably why all the beds are being turned into escape pods elsewhere (connie, Tali).

We don't know if a bed is tucked into its fuselage or not (the area where the second crew bubble connects to) --- we need more info still.

Ben did confirm that CIG never (initially) thought of an actual use for the Beds.  However... players have "given" CIG many ideas and the Idea of using beds for long duration missions was taken from a CIG early stretch goal.  Using the Beds as escape pods is actually a dual function (not just being escape pods).  There has been no definitive word (at least from what I have heard) on the "log-out" issue and using a bed to log out in space vs having the ship autopilot to the nearest safe landing site (but CIG does like the mechanic and is aware of it - just no decision made on it - as far as I know).
