17 million goal Battlecruiser

17 million stretch goal is Battlecruisers. That's cool but didn't we miss a class or two in between?  I mean like cruisers.  Just so you guys know a battle cruisers in real life is usually a large warship designed for speed with the armament of a battleship but less armour.

We will see full battleship listed in the stretch goal in the future if the trend continues.

So we want a Bangal carrier, battleship, 2 battle cruiser, 2 or escort carrier, 4 destroyer, about 8 frigates, and bunch of corvettes and small crafts.  Thats a good start to an armada.

Hmmm.........I wonder. Would it be possible to take a derilect Battlecruiser, strip out the blown-away guns and decks, and fit Huge fuel tanks. Or bigger guns. Seriously, to what extent can we modify these capital ships?

Am i the only one to be more excited by the free engine modifier package?

I hope this will be like a voucher that we can use to buy any engine modifier for free. Or, at least a selection of engine mods. Because some players might want an Overdrive mod for increased performance, whereas others might want a mod for increasing fuel efficiency, and another player might want a "Silencer" mod for greater stealth.

The same engine mod for everyone kinda diminishes the benefit.

I totally agree, a voucher would be much easier for CIG to implement and provide the player with a range of options to actually get the kind of engine performance they want.

Exactly. I always think it's better to give players a choice, even for free stuff or bonus content.

That is probably what they mean.  "1 free modifier of your choice".  And hopefully not LTInsured.  Or would it be?

i wouldn't think so, my understanding is that with LTI covers the base model of ship you have not the upgrades or mods

Yeah same here. Massive ships are cool and all, but I want to focus on my own little dogfighter.

I'll hop in the larger ones every now and then, but don't need one of my own.

I expect all rewards and bonus content will be "LTI-ed" -- except for the 2000 credits for Original and Veteran Backers.

It doesn't make sense to reward players with an AMX-1 repair drone and Class 2 Space Suit, and if it's destroyed, or we die, they're gone forever. Especially since they both seem like basic items. The AMX-1 is probably the cheapest repair drone available. And the Class 2 space suit is an actual space suit, whereas the Class 1 is like a "plastic bag". CIG isn't exactly spoiling us with these rewards.

Because the rewards are so basic, they're almost certainly permanent; meaning if our ship is destroyed with the repair drone aboard, it'll probably be replaced along with the ship in your Hangar. And if we "die", we'll still have the Class 2 space suit when we respawn.

Therefore, I think the free engine mod will always be available in our Hangar, and will be replaced if our ship is destroyed. And like the drone and space suit, the free engine mod is probably pretty basic, so once we can afford better mods, it'll probably just sit and collect dust in the Hangar. But I'd rather always have it and not use it than only have the mod once and then it's gone.

Maybe I'm strange but i see a mod as being different than the Repair drone or Space Suit. I'd rather have a 1 off Decent engine mod than some super basic mod that you'll replace quickly enough and it just sits around being useless.

I'd rather receive a good engine mod for free too, but I don't see that happening, based on the rewards and bonus content thus far.

I think CIG is trying to walk the line between demonstrating their appreciation to backers for their pledge contributions, and not giving Original and Veteran Backers unfair advantages over the people who buy Star Citizen when it's released in a year or so.

Yea, I'll still hold hope that he hook us up with a single decent 1 off mod. Considering that roughly 200k people would have it as well I could see most people losing there ship at least once in the first few months and that would level the playing field back down.

It said "ship upgrade package...containing an engine modifier". For one thing, it didn't say it was going to be given to us. It will probably be an unlock available for purchase, and may or may not be beneficial, depending on what you plan to be doing. What may be useful for a Starfarer may not be very useful for a P52. Or what is useful for a Trader may not be for a Bounty Hunter. But it shows they are going to be releasing a lot of stuff like this to keep tickling our fantasy in the next 18 months. And it will most likely be for one ship.
