TheGershDevice
Hi guys - Because I'm in the exploration division I was wondering if it be worthwhile upgrading my 300i to a 315p.What are your thoughts?
Drago
I would go with the 350 and install better scanners.
TheGershDevice
Is the 350 available? I didn't see it anywhere.
Exitre
I think it was a limited edition But, you'll be able to get one in-game if it proves to be better for explo purposes. ps, nice sig TheGershDevice
Cellus
It looks like the variants are just upgraded 300's, so you're probably better off buying the 300i and the difference for in game credit to buy upgrades. They haven't said how exactly that'll work yet, but you'll likely end up better off with having more options (300i + cash). If the 350r becomes available again I'll probably jump on it. I don't think you can upgrade the 300i to it.
Reavern
You can't "upgrade" any ships anymore, like you could with the Aurora or 300i. Now you can only reclaim ships and pledges for store credit, and apply those store credits to different purchases. So if you have a 300i, you go to My Hangar on RSI Prime, click the Reclaim button on your 300i, and confirm it. After you've reclaimed the 300i for store credits, you go to the Store, choose the 300 series model you want, like the 315p, and buy it. You can apply the $55 in store credits and pay the $10 extra. Regarding the 350r, it's no longer available. However, I predict it'll be available again sometime before the November 26th, probably during the next Livestream event. TheGershDevice
Reclaiming and paying the extra was the method I was going to use, the reason I was asking about the 315 was to see if it would be a worthwhile investment or not. The only substantial differences are the tractor beam, the tr4 thruster and the engine.
Cellus
I mean upgrade in-game, if that wasn't clear. Same hull, different attachments.
Shinken
My first ship is the 315PBought it with Exploration in mind.My thoughts on the thruster/engine was that a better thruster/engine in hostile space is more worth then better guns.Tractor beam could come in handy when you find (parts of) abandoned ships. For going fast I took the M50 =) But.. it just might happen that when the brochure of the Freelancer comes out I might chance the 315p to an upgraded version of the lancer. Reavern
I want to dedicated exploration ship, and I've considered buying the 315p. Since it will always be available, like the 300i and 325a, I've decided to wait until the Freelancer's brochure promo, because it is supposed to be the exploration specialist ship. If the Exploration Freelancer is significantly better than the 315p, I'll buy it. I already have a 350r, which I intend to use as a stealth-scout, inspired by the UEE's black watch division. If I don't buy a LTI-ed exploration ship, the 350r should suffice until I can afford to buy a 315p or Exploration Freelancer in-game.

Reavern
I fear what the Constellation promo models will do to my wallet... Same. I'm prepared to buy two upgraded models: a combat-optimized Constellation and the limited edition Constellation -- whatever that is. I hope it's good. I have been looking for some clarification however on the topic concerning package melt downs (reclaims). So if I melt down my rear admiral package to purchase a variant connie (likely the limited edition if available) what will happen to my other swag, which is part of the package? is that stuff lost? or will they have packages with each ship (variant) similar to the "Lightspeed" package for the 300i - 350r? Reavern
If you reclaim your Rear Admiral pledge package, you will lose your copy of Star Citizen, Squadron 42, the 10,000 credits, and all the other swag that comes with it. However, if you buy an upgraded Constellation pledge package during the Constellation sales brochure promo, it should include an upgraded Constellation model, and everything in the Rear Admiral package -- meaning you should get everything back. I plan to reclaim my Rear Admiral pledge package, but I'm holding off until the Constellation promo, because I want to reserve the $250 store credit for the Constellation upgrade, so I'll only need to pay the difference. (I re-bought the Hornet last week after I reclaimed mine to buy the 350r, so I can reclaim it again for store credits for the Hornet promo, and pay the difference for the limited edition.) BTW, presently the only difference between the Rear Admiral pledge package that Original Backers bought last November, and the Rear Admiral package currently available on the RSI Prime Store, is that the Deluxe Silver Collector's Box is marked "Signed" for Original Backers, and is NOT marked signed on the Store. Other than that, they're identical. (Although, for New Backers it's $275 and it has 6 month ship insurance instead of LTI.) The signed vs. not signed difference raises the question: If I reclaim my Rear Admiral or better pledge package and buy an upgraded version, will I no longer receive the Signed game box? I don't know. It's possible. I'm confident that CIG will clarify this and announce that Original Backers will receive the Signed game box as long as they pledge for an Admiral package. I've asked this question on the RSI Forums already, but didn't receive an official response from CIG. Maybe someone with Concierge access can ask CIG about it. Corwin Arzak
Very excited how the 350r performs. Looking to be an explorer with the 350r and upgrading my stock 300i to a fighter type. 350r is built with speed in mind, but I think that on lang range exploration you can encounter fuel problems as it burns twice much fuel from same 350i fuel tank. You will need to upgrade fuel tank and use some slots for that. But even that fuel upgrade might not be enough. Captain_Jamtu
Captain_Jamtu
Im sure there will be a way for me to work around the fuel issue. :-) i wont have to run engines at full the entire time now lol
