Hey All, totally new person to the game.  I heard so many great things about the SC in-game community which is why I purchased the game frankly.  Once in-game though I was basically trolled in Global and couldnt get one question answered.  I was also given the classic log-out command in response to a simple question.  Is this what I have to look forward to?

Please dont say get a "good group" of friends, none of my gaming pals are playing this game as they think its a big scam.  But I do want peoples opinion on the in-game community.

Thanks!

Well, as the game got more popular, more trolls will be present in the game. In my experience the community is fairly good and friendly but if I ever ran into any trash talk in the chat,  I will just jump to another server and try my luck again. I’ve tried to do that when I first joined the game and usually be able to randomly meet some great people in game and play that section together.

The point is that with 100 people per server, you have more opportunity to get 1 or 2 troll on the chat.

But if you have a fair question, you will definitvely have an answer in 80% of the cases.
In general European servers are a little bit more civilized.

Also notes that for the questions like "is there enemy at Jumptown ?" or I'm going to clear my crimestat, is there somebody to pick me up ? ", you might get some unwanted attention from the trolls ^^

In game community can always be a bit rough, especially if you're on a server that ends up being populated by groups that are more focused on piracy/pad camping, etc... One thing that I would probably say you'll want to do is get hooked in with a good organization. "Good group of friends" doesn't mean your current gaming pals, an MMO is best experienced if you get in a good organization/guild. That being said, I think the accolades you might have heard about regarding the "in-game community" are likely from people who themselves are in a good org/interact with good orgs. I'd recommend keeping your eyes open for good orgs in-game or checking out orgs forums/discords/etc... to see if they're a good fit for you and how you want to play the game.

  • 2 weeks later...

I 've been out of things for a while, but isn't Star Citizen Base an in-game org like the OP is looking for?  Or are things organized different them from what I remembered?  I'm not clear on why they were told to keep a look out for good orgs in-game.  I thought this WAS a good org in game.

Star Citizen Base is a website for the entire Star Citizen Community.

Imperium is a Org. that was formed by individuals that created Star Citizen Base.

If this site was for Imperium only, we wouldn't have a Fleets & Recruitment section.
