Can we Gift multiple CCUs and can we melt gifted CCUs?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum and I've searched here and in google, and so far I couldn't find any answer.

I have a second account, that I am reserving for 1 of my kids, I bought a non LTI package pledge to have the Dragonfly with LTI. I am currently building my fleet with my main account and I have some store credit but I was thinking if I buy cash for a Taurus, C2, M2, A2 CCUs each and keep them unmelted just in case I later want to gift the 4 CCUs to my second account, since its got an extra LTI token, I could have that option. My question is

1. can I gift multiple CCUs to the same recipient? because (https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013325608) says once per pledge which is kinda confusing to me.

2. If yes, does my second account still have the option to melt any / all of the gifted CCUs?

3. Can you also gift a CCU if you buy from Buy Back in cash?

3. This is a bit off topic, but anybody have any news if A2 is also coming in 3.13, I think C2 and M2 are both coming for 3.13 (not really sure), I'm asking because I made some Buy Back options for A2 CCUs, so that maybe I could just delay buying that CCU for a bit more.

1. Yes. That FAQ is specifically referring to each pledge can only be gifted once. For example, if you gift the C2 CCU to that account, that account CANNOT gift that CCU further. From that article: "This is counted as once per pledge, not once per account."

2. Yes; however the funds will be locked to that account. If you get anything with credit, it cannot be gifted (there is a way to transfer credit, but it involves using the credit to CCU a fresh aurora. Gift status is tied to the base pledge).

3. Yes provided 100% of the cost is cash; however CCUs in buyback change price. So it's exactly the same as if you buy the CCU in the store at the next sale. If the C2 goes up by $20 when it comes out in 3.13, then the price of your CCU in buyback will also increase. If you want to keep the cheaper price, it is best you don't melt a CCU.

4. Not sure. Bomb functionality is not scheduled until later this year with 3.15 and the A2 is coming with that. As the new roadmap pulls directly from their Jira, I'm more inclined to believe that is still the case. As I mentioned in point 3 though, the CCU price in buyback could change so if you're even thinking about it now might be the best time to buyback before it goes up.

Hi, Thanks very much for the quick reply. Just to clarify on Question 1. So each CCU that I buy with cash / credit is a Pledge, so each Pledge I could gift at most once if I bought it in cash, and if I buy all 4 CCUs with cash I could then Gift all 4 CCUs to my second account to later upgrade the Dragonfly.

Too bad the Dragonfly is a promo and cannot be gifted or melted, I wonder if once I apply all intended CCUs to it both gifted and bought, If I still can't gift it to my main account after then, have you or anybody tried that?

Well I was hoping to delay buying the buy back like mid of next month, hoping the prices haven't gone up yet. I'm just a few months into SC, so I have no real historical knowledge, but how soon does CIG upgrade the prices on non-flyable ships? I was thinking either right before another sale or right before a ship's release, probably even while 3.13 is still in PTU, they might change it. Has it historically happened much earlier than that? like right after a sale they change the price up.

BTW, am I right to assume that on anniversary sale even capital ships are available to CCU? I plan to get Orion, Merchantman (jiust a large ship as of date), Pioneer, and several Endeavor CCUs. of course for the pioneer I preferably hope to get either or all the Polaris and Perseus and another Orion CCUs, otherwise I will have to skip them and upgrade from a carrack chassis. and just place everything else already flyable on buy back, until I can afford them.

Correct provided it was bought 100% with cash.

Doesn't work. Gifting is tied to the base pledge. So if you have a giftable aurora, you could apply all the credit CCUs in the world and it will remain giftable. Likewise, if you have a non-giftable aurora you can apply all the cash CCUs in the world and it remains non-giftable.

Generally when it becomes flyable. Although some ships (see Idris, Merchantman as examples) have increased during development. Typically the price hierarchy is first ever concept sale < concept sales < in development < flyable. Although CIG want to move away from concept sales.

Nope. Any ship that is hull limited (sold in limited quantities) is traditionally not available for CCU. This rules out ships like the Pioneer,, Polaris, Kraken, Idris, Javelin. CIG have been known sometimes to make exceptions for a special sale (see the Polaris at IAE this year), but this is the exception not the rule. Apart from the Polaris at the last IAE, none of the ships I just mentioned have ever been available for CCU. If you see quantity limited here, it's typically not available for CCU* (* - Some things like the Kraken-> KRaken Privateer and the Idris K Upgrade Kit are available, but require the base hull that cannot be CCU'd to to begin with). Not saying they will never appear as the Polaris clearly just did, but don't bank on it.

Wow, you just saved me a lot of money and headache, looks like I don't have to push to get and keep that A2 CCU anymore, nor do I have to keep the extra C2, M2 and Taurus CCU I just bought, basically minus 1 whole CCU chain, unless the pioneer grows out of favor like what happened I think to the starfarer, which used to be a rare ship and is now always available in sales. though not sure in the future if that is always going to be the case once refueling mechanics is further developed. Was the starfarer ever been hull limited too? I just heard it used to be one of the rare ships not sure if that means it was hull limited at that time.

I just started my CCU chain and Luckily I found this forum and you in it, before I went all out on also getting some Warbond CCUs for each chain, which, I just noticed, is mostly gone now, even before the sale is over, only the Red Warbond remains.

The pioneer is my least liked chain, I was just hoping that maybe later they decide to make it like the most basic mobile factory where you could eventually build everything else like workshops, or a bigger factory, that would then allow you to build bigger things like hanggars, or ship yards, that could then build ships. Basically be able to build everything a new colony would ever need to become self sufficient, even in isolation or in a new unexplored system, much like Space Engineer's Survival Kit, where all you need is that, enough oxygen, power, and a drill to feed the survival kit with the raw materials it needs to buiild up.

Be carefull about building mechanics : in Star Citizen you would not be allowed to build aircraft industry, just like aircraft factory right now : you may be able to build the hangar, the machinery but you still will not have access to patent and design of the Anvil aircraft, there will be an exclusivity for the production of the ships, they will be produced in limited number of places :)

On the other hand, with the colonization mechanic, we may be able to build a tons of differents extraction and industrial facilities ;)

Oh yeah you're right, there will be limitation in making ships because of patents, I forgot there is this whole other dimension of the game, which is the lore. Well I was hoping the ship would at least make all the components needed for any ship and / or base repair and if there would be a possibility to make ships then that would be grand, but of course patents will most likely be a major stumbling block there. If ever ship building would be possible with the pioneer, it most likely be limited to CO ships only since its manufacturer is CO. I was planning to mine with the Orion, to make ship components, tune it up using the endeavor's super-collider and then sell it to players using the BMM as a much better product than what is sold on the regular market. But I'll be happy with just the Orion and the BMM

Thus far the only "building" related side to the game has been bases and base modules, with the Pioneer being the only "base builder" that they have announced. While there are repair ships, things like replacement part manufacturing have always been maintained to be game/AI controlled, and will not be in the realm of player building/control due to the in-game economy largely being AI-driven. Players will able to make SOME impact on the economy, but not in ways like you'd think from games like EvE or Star Wars Galaxies.

You are absolutely correct there. And for that same reason that I didn't planned to buy the pioneer at first. But I came across this comm-link (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/17821-Star-Citizen-Birthday-AMA-Recap) from 5 months ago, which stated: "

Basically, iCache will enable us to allow all of you to settle the stars!

When we first came up with the concept of player built outposts and land claims iCache hadn’t been technically designed, but now we have a system that will have a much higher degree of fidelity in remembering where each building or component is and what state it is in. So rather than just dropping down a singular Outpost, you’ll be able to place down various structures and connect them to things like power generators, turrets, resource collectors, hydroponic domes and so on.

In parallel with this we’ve been working on tools to build settlements or homestead both for our artists / designers (more of a RTS god like view) and players (a first person view).

With this we’ve been rethinking how the Pioneer will work to make her more flexible rather than just spitting out a pre-fabricated outpost we want her to me more of a mobile fabrication facility that would be near your building site. With a Pioneer you’ll be able build these structures without having to ship in the component parts as long as you have a supply of raw materials.

"

it looks to me that their original idea of the Pioneer just chucking out pre-fabricated outposts was found to be too limiting and they realized, that the pioneer could do more. Of course this is just speculation on my part, but I am REALLY hoping that they decide to make it do so much more than just homesteads, like a whole new gameplay where you jump in a whole new unexplored system and you find a really rich destination but the nearest outpost to that is just too far for a return trip even with a full Quantum tank. All you know is there is a really good amount of materials that you could mine at the destination and the ships that you have, and you know that you'll only need, are the Pioneer, and the Orion. You know that you will have to settle there, survive on your own, at least until you've mined enough Quantainium to refuel the QT tank to return to the station where started from.

I am not saying that is how they will be doing it, I was just hoping that will happen, but sadly that is not enough of a reason for me to buy the Pioneer at full $850 on just a hope. But I won't mind holding on to a couple of CCUs for a CCU chain, just in case that do happen, CCU chain containing CCUs  for the Taurus, C2, M2, A2 and also a CCU for the Polaris and the Pioneer itself, but since I just found out that I can't CCU the Pioneer. Then too bad, that would have been a really good gameplay, at least for me, I find it good.

Hi I joined SC right after the free fly and Rent for Free all ship event of Nov-Dec 2020, and I wasn't paying any attention to CCUs at that time. Does anybody recall if the Endeavor was available for CCU last Anniversary Sale of 2020? I got worried when I came across this post here in this site:
