Not gonna lie. I was really hoping for a Vanguard competitor. When I learned that it did not have an interior (with the concept sale), I shifted optimism to a Heavy Fighter for the Idris.  ——- Q&A solidified my question about what ship it fits on, and this is definitely NOT what I wanted to hear. 🙁

Think about it another way though....... don't you think it would be too powerful (since it isn't designed as a Glass Cannon like a Buccaneer is) to be able to One-shot some ships and still have good armor (Inferno) or good shields (Ion)?????

I am still happy I bought a CCU from my Freelancer MIS (since I have othermissilee boats) to the Ares Ion......... I could melt the CCU and keep my Freelancer MIS but I don't see anything in the Q/A that would make the Freelancer MIS more useful (yes I know it has some cargo + beds).

Think of the Ares to be more like the Eclipse......... where they both aren't great vs dog-fighters........ and the Eclipse uses Stealth for Defense while the Ares uses Armor or Shields (keep in mind the Eclipse is quite a bit more expensive than the Ares as well + the Ares will have more options to sustain a fight)

Well, it is a competitor for what the Vanguard was supposed to do, which is to hurt capitals.

It will loose most dogfights against Light or Medium Fighters......... and even most other Heavy Fighters due to lack of maneuverability and fairly large size - played up in the Q/A.   It is really designed to be a ranged sniping ship or a boom and zoom fighter - not a dog-fighter (except for fighting against something like a Connie of which it would then have the advantage)

I didn't say it was going to do well or badly nor specific to type of ship it was dogfighting against, but to say it'll loose most I think is still a bit early to say for sure.  Who knows when the Ares will actually make it to the PU and what changes from now to then CIG will make.  We know what the Q&A says--we all read it, but I don't think we can state for sure what it could do with the right skilled pilot.

Sure the Ares can 1 shot a light fighter (most likely) or severely cripple them and then finish them off really quick afterwards but with equal pilots a Light or Medium Fighter should easily stay out of the "fixed" target lock that the Ares will need to hit (and that's fine since it isn't really meant to dog fight).   Can I say that for sure (obviously not)........ but I can say that with assured certainty based on what we know of the game so far / its WWII type of fighting / CIG's intent / etc....

Like the A10 the  ares main weapon is part of the ship.and locked in.

The inferno has a bit more armor - 2-3 time the normal ammo capacity of its size. 1 med power plant, 2 med cooler, 2 med shield.

The ION has lesser armor to adjust for the laser and 2 med power plants. 3 cooler, 3 med shield to keep the mass equal. for flight characteristics.will be equal to a freelancer.

Add in the afford mentioned batteries- for core power shut down for stealth

-and add in the missile allotment.

Just the single pilot seat. and suit for amenities.

Only the javelin  hanger or the larger hanger deck on the kraken can these land on or  land base .  logistics will be vital -to service these  heavy fighter- the big question is will they (med) fit in the repair hanger of the kraken

That was why i got 2 duel pks best of both.. will need to test the stealth capability to see how close they can get before being spotted. on main power and batteries/stealth

tactics will be critical on how you place your picket line -for early detection/ and avoidance. in conjunction w a harbinger, eclipse.

Personally I think that a single Ares (especially the Inferno) will excel against anything bigger than a Sabre up to about Caterpillar or 890 size, with the Hammerhead being an exception due to its anti-fighter specialisation and powerful shields/armor. In groups it's a rather fearsome ship I think. However, I agree with VoA - anything agile enough to stay out of its crosshair will probably make short work of it.

errr these two aren't in the same league. Ares hits large ships and can't really hit anything moving like a fighter. SH couldn't dent these large ships. each is in a different class and they both excel at that.

the inferno has a weapons range of 8 km (wip) the SH has around 2-2.5 km. tbh I've got them for CCUS over my 2x huricanes.

Hey guys, 🙋‍♂️

soo i'm new here, and i found something on reddit about the ares.

It's about the ship sizes and what ship could maybe hold this Space A10.😀

One said, that the new Crusader Industries Capital Ships can hold an ares, i think he meant the mercury starlifter.

You think thats true?

I really like the Crusader style ships so i preordered an inferno, but i would also like a ship that could hold the ares for transport purpose..

The Ares is definitely a cool ship!  However, it is not small and is considered a heavy fighter.  It would definitely not fit inside the Starlifter, and as far as we know CIG has not yet produced an actual Crusader Industries capital ship (although there have been mentions of one in lore, I believe).

Currently the only ships that you can pledge for that could hold an Ares is the Drake Kraken and possibly Aegis Javelin.  Per CIG, it won't fit inside either of the Idris or Polaris

At $62 million, you’ll unlock the boarding ship…  (We need a new Ship Manufacturer - and Please move this thread when posted - thanks)
Genesis-class Starliner – The Genesis is yet another landmark in Crusader Industries’ proud history of transport designs. This ship utilizes award-winning manufacturing techniques and the highest quality parts to create one thing; a next-generation passenger ship at a price that won’t break your budget. Crusader Industries’ proprietary NeoG engine technology offers some of the most efficient flight for a ship of its size. The Genesis line has been cited in Whitley’s as “one of the most reliable and safe public transport ships on the market.” Genesis Starliners are available in a number of stock configurations, focusing on everything from passenger capacity to freight to overall comfort. The UEE military operates multiple Genesis conversions for support roles, including SWACS and starflight test operations.

In CIG's new Ship Status thread the Variants for the various Genesis-Class Ships by Crusader Industries were revealed.  Like we have for other Variants (RSI Constellation, etc...) = each Variant should have its own thread for discussion, new image, info, etc....  All we have to go on so far is the name.... but...
Genesis Starseeker = is obviously the pioneer (explorer) variant
EDIT: - Think @WarWulf is correct in his assumption =
