Interesting quote. I really want to know more!

Agreed. According to the lore. Nick Croshaw was the first offical explorer to succesfully navigate a jumppoint.. so.. if it's any indication of what we'll see during CitizenCon, it's either exploration mechanics or jumppoint tech.. or even both.

Agreed + we'll see the Anvil Carrack........ and hopefully.......... another Exploration Ship concept sale (though honestly ....... I think we have enough...... but would love to see a more specialized ship per below).........   we also have enough Large and Small ships so hopefully we'll see a Medium Size Exploration or Science ship or Farming Ship

  • Aerial / Ground Surveyor - A ship that would do highly detail and accurate scans of underground caverns / ruins / minerals - with low flying / hovering options even in heavy gravity planets
  • Flora / Fauna Science Ship - A ship that would do highly detail and accurate scans of Flora / Fauna - with low flying / hovering options even in heavy gravity planets
  • Botany / Farming Ship - A ship that would spread seeds / collect seeds / harvest plants - with low flying / hovering options even in heavy gravity planets

++++++++++++

See this RSI Post....... https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/61894/thread/new-concept-ship-for-citizencon-2949

What do you think of these three options for ships or do you have another Idea?

Wish I could go. I'd been socking away money since last CitizenCon in the hopes of attending this year, but medical expenses in this country are highway robbery.

Guess I'll have to kick plans to visit the UK several more years down the road.

Sandi mentioned a big Xmas 2019 SQ42 related event at last year's Citcon, with this year's Citcon now being closer to Xmas, will it mean a big SQ42 reveal (possible 2020 release date maybe?) is likely in Manchester?

I can feel the anticipation building...

I really hope to see a jumppoint announcement.  It is that time to see one with the progression of the Stanton System being nearly complete.  It is technically next as we will soon see progress on the neighboring star systems to Stanton as well.

Exciting times....

Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2949 Free-Fly

This Year’s Biggest Spaceship Event

Citizens,

To celebrate this year’s premier aerospace event, and commemorate our anniversary, we’re launching a Free-Fly event. From November 24th through December 5th, you have the chance to try some of Star Citizen’s most iconic vehicles for free.

Here’s how it works:

During the promotion, anyone can join Star Citizen’s Persistent Universe. It’s free to experience the game first-hand, but to get out there and start exploring, you’ll need a ship.

Starting on November 24th, every day at 2pm UTC, a different ship manufacturer will make its fleet available for 24 hours. The Free-Fly will end with a celebration of the ships that made it to the final four of the recent Ship Showdown tournament. There may also be some surprises in store for those of you who make the trek out to ArcCorp’s Area18, so stay tuned.

Check out the schedule below to plan your test flights. Have fun and fly safe!

The 2949 Free-Fly Schedule

Yes, the prospect of finally being able to travel to other star systems is very exciting.

I hope that CIG implements it in an innovative way. TBH when new star systems are added to the PU, I don’t want CIG to formally announce it and for the jump point to pop up in the Stanton System for everyone to see. I hope CIG keeps it a secret — or only hints at it — and leaves it for players to find on our own.

It could be an un-announced competition: The player who finds the jump point and successfully navigates it to the new star system will be rewarded, perhaps by having the jump point named after the discoverer. It would be a bold and thrilling Star Citizen community event.

Esteemed Chairman's Club Member,

The Intergalactic Aerospace Exposition is once again upon us, flying into Area18, ArcCorp with the latest and greatest from the 'verse's top shipmakers, and aplomb to spare.

While the expo presents an embarrassment of riches for aerospace enthusiasts in search of the next great starship, as a Kraken pilot, you'll be excited to hear our friends at Drake Interplanetary have given us an advance scoop on their latest, and biggest, project, set to be unveiled at the Expo on November 30th. Read on for more details on how they're teaming up with aftermarket conversion specialists Cousin Crow's Custom Craft to transform your Kraken into the ultimate mobile marketplace.

Well.... we got it!  Finally!  The Jump points we have been anticipating.  I love it.  They made it really interesting.  And I like that they made it "like navigating river rapids," you still have to guide your ship, but you get a little help from the stream through the wormhole.  This is a major step in now seeing more content coming our way.

Are jump points one-way streets? Do you have to fight the stream coming back, or is there always/sometimes a separate jump point that also returns to the sector where another one left? If your character leaves the jump current and falls into interstellar space in the middle of nowhere... what then?

Not expecting anyone here to know the answers, but I think these things need answered.

I suspect jump points work both ways. Otherwise exploration would mean certain death. There'll probably be individual tunnels per ship to avoid collisions while the next system streams in.

As for what happens with a premature jump point exit, I suspect it will drop you somewhere inside the gravity well of the system, but maybe so far out that the OCS has time to stream the rest of the system in without a noticeable impact.

Citizen Con 2019: the definitive questionnaire

renderTimingPixel.png

Hi citizens!

Did you know that:

  • three out of four of us brought something from CIG this year’s citizen con?

  • The most popular purchase was the C8X Pisces.

  • The most melted manufacturer was Origin.

  • 96% of us avoided UEC purchases

  • Two thirds of us are aged between 30-40.

  • We have almost as many apache helicopters amongst us as we do women!

If you’d like to take part in this year’s citizen con questionnaire you can find it here: Citizen Con 2019: the definitive questionnaire

Well everyone it's that time again,
Looking to help people start to put together a list of who's goings and who has tickets or knows where to get tickets for people who want to go.
Also there is a dedicated channel in Discord to get some plans rolling for this years event!!

I had hopes of the release for the Squadron 42 Roadmap with details, instead we were told it should release by the end of December.
Twerk17 had stated it would likely be a discussion on the minimum viable product, and he ended up being correct.
The presentation opens with Chris saying "What is release" which gave me chills deeper than the overpowered AC in the theater.
By the timestamp of 8:30 he is done talking about the past and moving onto current things being implemented, Bind Culling, OCS, etc.
Going forward his bullet points include:
Ship Purchasing / Rental Org's System Full Persistence Server Meshing Release These are the milestones he feels are needed before the "Last Wipe".  As TheNoobifier says, its a "Soft Release".
It does not matter what jobs are implemented, what ships are flyable, for all we know this could be the best version of mining we see until they revisit it after release.  I do think server meshing is going to take forever to get right so we could be on the 3rd revision of all jobs, and have 30 systems, who knows.
It was nice to clarify release was when wiping ends after server meshing, but I was hoping a few more features and locations would be promised as nessisiary before the wiping ends.

These are probably the most important aspects of SC to understand and many may have missed this first one (perhaps the most important for understanding the PU).
If you are interested in discussing more about these - we will be covering them in Next Week's - Blood Moon Unit's TS Meeting (Mondays at 6pm PST)  ((All in Imperium are welcome))........ on the 22nd will be CitizenCon 2948 - Panel: By Design and on the 29th will discuss CitizenCon 2948 - Panel: The Principles of Flight  +++ Please add your take on these panels - on this forum thread - thanks
