Aegis Hammerhead release by year's end?

Hello Everyone, Zarian here fresh off  this week's ATV.  While there was A LOT of information presented, I wanted to skip ahead toward the end...more specifically, the part about the Hammerhead.

Fast forward to 39:00, please.

Unless my ears are deceiving me, Jared said "the Hammerhead is in full production". If that's true, that would be absolutely mind blowing considering the ship was released on concept almost two months ago! That is insane! I'm really amazed at how far CIG has come in their refinement of the ship pipeline. When you think about it, ships like the Redeemer and Idris are some of the biggest names that a lot of us have been waiting for (and still haven't seen in-game). But to now know that the Hammerhead and the 600i are so far into production, this soon, wow. At this rate, if all goes well, I can see both ships in our hands by this year's anniversary... or Christmas, at the earliest.

Jared also mentioned the Hammerhead being in the "kitbashing" stage. A point in production where materials are taken from another similar-themed ship to help speed up the process. In this case, the Idris. It would be crazy if we could have this ship in our hands this year or the beginning of next year. Like all things with CIG, there are (and will be) bumps, but I still remain optimistic.

For anyone with better knowledge of the ship pipeline, what are your thoughts? How soon do you see some of these making it out of the pipeline and into our hands?

I hadn't considered that. But isn't it a little late to add ships into SQ42 now? I mean, script changes and added lines would only push the project back further... Unless it was added previously and the ship pipeline just caught up... 😕

I ended up not getting one, partially because I figured it would arrive very late.  This would make me regret that decision.

I thought the sane about the Polaris as well. I decided to purchase one at last year's anniversary sale though... Well I ccu'd up to it from the Hammerhead for the LTI, then purchased a ton of HH's. I hope like heck this isn't just fluff that CIG is trying to sell. 😐

Can I just point out that Zarian keeps restarting a new thread every time and also timestamp anyone? even mobile and desktop have timestamp available.

Huh? I don't understand what you mean....

I think he is trying to say that Zarian should contain this thread to other previously started threads on the Hammerhead, and that he should use youtube's timestamp sharing feature.

Ah gotcha, now I get it.

I like things split out some like this, a single thread on the hammerhead with everything in it becomes a blob.

On the YouTube time part possible he’s not aware of the feature :)

Yes, definitely wasn't aware of it. Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers @Devil Khan 😁

It's pretty easy to do, instead of grabbing the link from the url spot in the browser click "Share" under the video, check the box and set your time to start.  It then spits out a URL that will start the video at that spot for anyone else that watches it from the custom link.

As an FYI, this does not surprise me. The reason being, is that their plan for capital ships was to make "kits" for each manufacturer and then assemble ships. It makes sense that most of these larger ships being modular progress faster - as it is almost like playing with lego.

This would still be one of the largest player owned vessels in game to date though. Which means it's pretty freaking huge compared to what we have now. And it's also a patrol craft armed to the teeth so this would definitely be PvP meta against larger ships for those who have it.

I still want to grab one of theses for my own collection, definitely worth having.

I went crazy and bought eight of these monsters. I can't wait to start training with them. Defensive formations. Assault formations for space and planetside. Not to mention ways to assault, board and capture other ships. I'm stoked!

True, although the Hammerhead still falls in the same size category as the Starfarer and Caterpillar as far as I can see. And the Reclaimer is almost flightready too. :)

According to the specs:

  • Starfarer: 101m x 46m x 23m
  • Caterpillar: 111m x 39m x 13m
  • Hammerhead: 115m x 75m x 16m

So slightly longer than a Caterpillar and wider than a Starfarer. Still a big ship though and I'm very happy with mine as this was the actual patrol&escort 'corvette' I wanted. B)
