Hull E shipping professions

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I made the leap. I'm now the owner of a Hull E and am not really sure what to do with it. I've always been more interested I the combat side of things. I suppose I should recruit a proper crew for it since I have more enough firepower to protect it in my six Hammerheads and a single Polaris.

With that said, come one, come all...together we'll run cargo all day and night and will turn a very healthy profit!

I will throw in an investment to help turn some UEC into many more UEC!  We will just need enough to but stuff to fill it!

When the game goes live, I believe they will still sell UEC. If nothing else, I will buy just enough to completely fill it up and off we go!

I also own an Orion, so I'll have multiple streams of income 😊

I have a Taurus just to start the income stream.  but I also own a BMM hoping to make more serious cash.  And I plan to own a Hull series ship soon after to really bring in another income stream.  So, right there with ya!  :)

Hull D and E will make for some interesting game play indeed. Remember you'll need to opperate these craft with escorts, planning and VOIP.

The likely system people will use when trying to make money with the big Hull's is everyone buys an equal % of the cargo being hauled. So everyone has equal responsibility when it comes to safe guarding the ship, and equal share on the profits after logistic costs of all ships / parties involved.

This is the system i'll be leaning towards with my Hull D & E and Merchantman. As it's less likely to be a system that cause's drama.

I dunno man. Just imagine the pilot having a Leroy Jenkins moment and is off getting chicken in the kitchen when you get attacked.

I suppose the best way to counter this is to know your partners well, and to have worked with them for years. For example, @stefmarster is a dedicated gamer that I know well. He'll be disciplined and stay with me while @Rustknuckle is inherently unreliable who'll probably be in different country trying to find a KFC. :)

But seriously, and on topic. The Hull E has the potential due to its huge size to transport mundane products and turn a profit off of them. Whereas the high value commodities market may be competitive and dangerous (I'd imagine a freelancer with diamonds is a lot more valuable to a pirate org than a Hull E full of portland cement), if you transport basic raw materials you may find yourself less likely to be attacked. (This isn't a guarantee, and you may run into pirates who are actually looking to acquire dirt or something weird)

That won't work. CIG has capped the amount of UECs that backers can buy with $$$ at 150,000 UECs, which is the equivalent of $150. Ships will be much more expensive in UECs than $$$, so 150,000 UECs supposedly won't even buy a Hornet F7C. There's no way you'll be able to fill a Hull E with 150,000 UECs. It'll cost tens of millions of UECs to fill a Hull E.

No one player will be able to afford to fill a Hull E when it's first flyable. A large Org might be able to afford to fill a Hull E if they pool their UECs together as an investment. But that's ahelluvalotta eggs in one basket. And a huge target for Pirates. If the Org loses that Hull E, and they didn't purchase cargo insurance, that could instantly bankrupt the Org.

That's why I don't believe a Hull E is a ship that any player should start with. It's impractical and unrealistic. A Hull E owner might go bankrupt on their first haul from fuel costs alone. Even if a player owns a Hull E, they'd be smarter to start their cargo hauling career using a Hull B or Freelancer or Constellation. Gradually work up to using the Hull E, after months and months of running normal size cargo hauls.

That's why I melted my Hull C, D, and D-to-E CCU. But I kept my BMM. That's the merchant ship I'm going to work my up to using. Once I'm able to afford to fill a BMM, it probably won't be long until I can afford to buy a Hull E in-game, if I want.

I think the Hull series in general aren't great ships unless you are talking about hauling shittons of things in one go. The Hull C (supposedly the most prolific and useful hauler in the UEE) can't land on planets with a load, meaning you can't take it anywhere in undeveloped country without knowing there will be Argos at your destination to take everything groundside.

I get the feeling the Caterpillar is perhaps going to take the title of the Verse's premier hauler since it can take anything anywhere. Sure, the Hull C can take 4 times as much stuff, but the Caterpillar can take that 1/4 of stuff to more places and sell them at a higher price.

Hull E with it's wide variety of possibilities yet to be known make it a very interesting ship, personally I find it to be a great investment as long as you have something else on a personal size to move with IF that's an interest or if Hull E is what you're looking for then forget it. You'll have a good time no matter what!

I also plan to end with a Hull-E and D as they're made to move cargo and nothing else.

I kind of look forward to seeing the Hull series populating the shipping lanes of the UEE.  We most likely will not see them in null-sec space (like J. Coren says) unless they are carrying VERY valuable cargo for an Org setting up a base or moving ore.  I think CIG said we will see a lot of Hull B and C ships in the PU.  Seeing a Hull D or E would be a rarity.

The Hull C shown in the Anniversary video was quite large and appeared to need a few people manning the ship.  The crew must be split in two, some up front piloting the ship, and others in the rear keeping the engines running.  Should provide some interesting gameplay.

Ok y'all, I need some advice. With this year's anniversary sale, I took full advantage of the funds that I set aside for it. I bought 6 Hammerheads, 1 Polaris and a range of other fighters and ground vehicles. I didn't really care to look at MISC, but something told me just take a look.
I'm glad I did because holy cow, the Hull E is available!! Now I'm torn... Do I melt a Hammerhead and pick up the E? Or do I just wait and pick it up at the Christmas sale or at the next anniversary sale? Grrrrrr! Damn you, CIG! LoL
