Major news indeed. Really wish they could announce things like this on the official website but good news is good news!

Wonderful news, I saw the initial thread on the subreddit, it raised my hopes but took it with a grain of salt until official confirmation.  Its great to see some new results from their excellent work on the netcode.

Now that we know there are 60, we could see the following on one server:

- 2 fully crewed Idrii vs each other + 2 pilots to spare... fighting over a Javelin :-D

- 10 fully crewed Starfarers

- 15 fully crewed Caterpillars

- 30 Cutlasses... would be a scary sight.  30 Vanguards would be even scarier

- 60 Auroras .... I'd log out of that server immediately 0___0

 

If they really want to hype us, all Sandi can do is post a 60-player group pic like this and they'll be set:

This looks like that bug in 2.6.x, where pirates would endlessly spawn and fps reaches near single digits, it was kinda hilarious to hear "Get out of here!" dozens of times at once

Realistically, I believe that day 1 would be a senseless massacre... the likes of which the gaming world has never seen before.

It would look like this, but replace the capital ships with Auroras.

This is why I'd join the game on day 2 or 3 instead.

All part of the fun. I wouldn't mind if I lose half my fleet on day 1, just to be able to say those naysayers that will eventually see SC's true potential, that I was there at the beginning. I was part of history!

That's fine and dandy with me, I'll be busy for the first month or two just picking up and salvaging/repairing the charred hulls from the new ring formed around ArcCorp... from Aurora hulls xD

Otoh if this was pre-wipe I'd throw everything I have into the fray
