Imperium Pin Project.

This project started when I got a Star Citizen hat, and the Imperium patch was too large to fit on it.  Normally I'm not a pin guy, but I can't think of another way to add the imperium logo to this hat.

So I chatted up my buddy @Galileoabout what I wanted and sent him some example Imperium files.

First draft was a good start, but I did not like how the side wings connected.

Adding some depth, separating the wings.  Oops, its the wrong division.

Fixed the inner circle, but at 1" tall its not very identifiable.

Adding IMPERIUM with the correct font.  (SF Electrotome)

Dry run in wood, looking sexy.

At this point @xKiLlFrEnZyx Suggested fitting the name to the top, I think it looks much better.

First run with metal.  At 1" tall were having trouble getting the fine detail of the wheat to show, and at the same time, not accidently knock off the tiny stars in the center.  We discovered better quality aluminum was needed and ordered better extruded stuff from a supplier.

Next print is far better!  Before I was thinking about having just one made for me, but I'm seeing interest in more so I asked him to make me 50 after he's finished his keychain project.  Once they're done I'll post them for sale and figure out the logistics.

They are looking good! I can feel your pain, I'm sure Rotorax never designed that logo imagining that we would print, stamp, and engrave it on to so many things! It's such a PITA to work with, especially the Small details in the middle. Nonetheless, you seems to be getting good results switching to higher quality. Put me down for a couple of them, gonna drill a hole through the bottom of the crest and toss it on my key-chain.

How small are you thinking?

1/2" maybe 5/8" tops. Bigger than that and I couldn't use it with a uniform.

How about just the inner circle at 1/2 inch tall?  He would need different backing for a tie tack, but that's an option.   I personally don't like just the inside circle by itself and prefer the whole badge as you can see in my sig'.

See if they can be incorporated  into a ring. Nothing says sexy as space geek bling,

All of us space geeks love this stuff.

Lol

When I post them for sale I should offer them with or without a pin adhered to the backside so you can do what you want with it.

So, just wanted to update that this is far from dead. At a point where I am starting to revisit this. I spent the last hour or so cleaning up the vectors so I can scale them much larger than the original inch. I would love critical feedback on the base designs. Depending on interest I can branch out to the other divisions as well. Right now these will be in aluminum however brass could also be an option in the future. So far I have 4 designs I created a google form so you can cast your vote. https://goo.gl/forms/wYtHBGLNqu2a7CHF2

Thanks for waiting!

So, this would be a pin or something more substantial? (Like a challenge coin)
