I spoke to an EA rep and they said this was a completely new installment. The point of the universe being so big and open world is so they can have one game and multiple expansions, instead of a completely new title every couple of years. Now, expansions can be pushed out in different regions of the galaxy.

Now, how much those are, and how frequent we'll get them has me a little worried, because we all know how money hungry EA is, despite their customer service and software has improved the last couple of years.

This sounds like a great idea for Mass Effect! Hopefully they'll use the resources otherwise spent to create an entirely new game and cram in as much good story content as possible with the expansions. I hate pre-ordering, but I might bite the bullet on this one . . . SC anticipation is real.

I wonder if Chris will include soft core space porn in SC if he sees it is a major selling point for ME. I found the potential to date (and hump) several of the NPC in me3 quite entertaining ;) from what I hear the concept is vastly expanded in ME-A

Ricky Jutley: So this kind of question… it's always interesting to add different types of relationships, and romance in particular. You see games have developed over time, you can actually visualize that romance between characters with different cinematography, different scenes. Usually by the cutscenes, but also in the actual gameplay and actions that you can do, being able to develop a good personal relationship with significant others, so to speak, and I think Star Citizen's going to give you a great opportunity to probably do that, because there's going to be so many different people, so many different beings, in the 'Verse, yeah. I think that's something we need to…

Travis Day: Yeah, I think Squadron 42 too, I mean, what they're calling out is Mass Effect and Dragon Age which, it's obviously much easier to handle relationships and romantic relationships in a single player environment, not really in an MMO, so one of the things I think that Chris is famous for, in the Wing Commander games, is having those interactive cutscenes, having the ability to make those kinds of decisions, and the branching relationships that we had with some of the wingmen in wing commander, and I know that's something for a fact that he's definitely planning on doing in SQ42, where your decisions, your actions, they will matter to your wingmen and they'll impact your relationships. Now, how far those relationships go, I guess that's up to the decisions that you make.

We are not quite ready to talk about Alien relationship structures yet (though we have been thinking about it), but as for inter-species marriage in the UEE, Tevarin and Human interpersonal unions would be fine since Tevarin are part of the Empire, however things become a little hazier when it starts to involve beings who are not governed directly by the UEE and intergovernmental contract and tax law starts coming into play. We still need to work out the details on other species becoming UEE civilians.

Meaning that P2P is crap for me being on the other side of the world from the folks I'd play with.

Yeah, that part hurts. Hopefully the multiplayer isn't so twitch happy that the latency hurts it. Also, think about how many more people you might being into the fold :-)

I can count the number of franchises on one hand that EA has and ever will get my money. It's unfortunate that it's become a corporation of smaller companies being ruled by the greedy and powerful. We need to show, with Star Citizen, that you don't need a billion dollar publisher to make a good game.

Back on subject, I didn't get the $100 complete package, just the regular Deluxe Edition. Anybody else do the same?

Edit: I was actually surprised they didn't do a physical special box edition like they have with other games. You would think with something as big as Mass Effect, and the model ships they had in ME2, that they would have offered some limited edition physical item and book etc.

I played a lot of coop in ME3 with a friend of mine from Australia and even though it was occasionally laggy it was still enjoyable. I'd give it a try if I were you, maybe we should have someone host the session in the middle east when playing with euros or in Hawaiin when playing with west coasters ;)

Ooh shit, looks like I will need to order my 1080 ti now already if i want to play 60 fps on my 3440x1440 screen. I had hoped to postpone it for another month to see which custom boards come out ... judging from that post my poor 290x will not be enough to play it at medium and decent framerates :(

But will it have a 60hz refresh rate?

don't even go there ;) I am hoping Bioware isn't stupid enough to cap fps on a PC title or it will be the last title they ever sell ;)

Now stop scaring me, I almost had a heart attack when I read that ;)
