Would like some advice on exotic ships

With the 2016 aniversary sale continuing to wreak havoc on my Paypal account, I figured if I was going to go broke and hungry I might as well do it right. I don't like to half-ass anything.

I have two additional pledges that I'm considering, and would like some input from whoever is kind enough to chime in. I think I've lost my objectivity in this orgy of ship porn so I leave it to this illustrious community to help me out.

1: Hull-C to Banu Merchantman CCU

- Good idea? Why? Why not? Pros and cons?

2: Xian Scout

- Any idea what it's actually good for other than looking beautiful? I mean seriously, I would love one but I just can't pin the roll of this ship.

So for the first one, my personal stance is upgrade Hull-C to BMM. Firstly BMM has more space ,the ability to land on planets fully loaded and can act as a shop too. Also based on the initial pitch could be a good blockade runner as on the other hand the Hull-C is just a freighter.

It is a really fast and agile ship good for racing or a scout but doesn't have much of a punch.

Hey Jaxley..... PERSONAL OPINION....

Go with the BMM ccu.  PRO: Not only do you get a 5000+ SCU cargo ship!!!!!....(more than the HULL C), you also have a mobile Trade ship with great defensive capabilities when compared to the Hull C.  CON: will require more crew to man, but at this point MAX crew is the MAX you can put on board, not necessarily MIN requirement.

skip the scout unless you want the sexy.  It's a single person light scout.  One trick pony that may or may not make you a profit using.  Seems like a collectors item to me.

AGAIN... MY Opinion.  So please don't bash me folks.

My opinion on the Xi'an scout:  It's the fastest ship in the game so far, and it's so fragile it just doesn't hold up.  I love the look, but the cockpit is a pain to see out of (unless you're looking sideways).  Size 3 weapons make it hit pretty hard, but that's only useful if you can stay behind your target.  Otherwise you're dead pretty soon. Super pretty, super fragile.

Its role?  Interceptor. No way anyone is rabbiting if you can stay with them and keep their shields down so they can't QD away.  That or literally a scout.  Zip in, look around and be gone.  No one is catching up.

Hull C vs BMM: Get the BMM. The Hull C looks every bit the part of Space Trucker 2946 2947 which has it's own appeal (and you know that at some point there will be a xenomorph in that jefferies tube leading between the cockpit and engineering, but you have to get there anyway because the ship is disabled and adrift.  But that isn't enough for me.  Love the transformation of the Hull C, love the fact that the BMM can land fully loaded more.

CIG have added a large 'alien tax' to exotic ships, so expect the BMM CCU to cost a lot more than the original price unless you can find one on the grey market, but they are as rare as hen's teeth.

CIG didn't raise the price on the MM interestingly enough - and as it stands, the utility of the ship seems to be well beyond what would be expected for the price they're asking for it, alien or not. For the life of me, I can't figure out why that is...

Do we know they haven't raised the price of the BMM, as it hasn't been available recently. They increased the Jump 890 by $300 and it still isn't available in-game and the Caterpillar went up by $50 and there's another ship gone up this week too.

Thank you all, Banu it is!

Still on the fence with the Xian scout...

I'll admit, I'm completely charmed by the sexy. The pointy, transformey, cherry-red hotness. It seems as pointless as tits on a fish, but damn...

If you go to the hull upgrade area of the RSI website, you can see the current rates for ships. It's how people were getting info about the price hikes for the current sale prior to thier announcement. It seems that the MM is still $250.

The Scout can be a good idea if you are looking for the Xi'an version of a M50 ( which is what that ship is imho), otherwise I'd rather keep eating until the next paycheck.

About the BMM, all that was said already is good and right but with one caveat: the stats on that thing are so old that they stink, so honestly I wouldn't count much on calculations about who has the best cargo space or speed or whatelse besides the general "feel" of the BMM.

BMM will remain $250.  Not only was it said by Ben, but for easy of mind..... go to ship upgrades.... left side UNCHECK "my ships' and you will see all the prices that have been set for the sale essentially.  Includes all the new prices (ie. CAT, IDRIS P, etc..)  Good luck this week folks.  Make sure you save enough money for groceries :D

Bugger, that may mean it won't be offered for sale. If it is, I'm getting a CCU.

As for the Scout, I'm going to get the smaller ships in the game and only buy the ones that will be hard to come by or take too long to buy.

My current hanger load out includes the Glaive, Scythe, and Kharthu-Al.. it is a beautiful site...  Personally I think if its in your budget pick up as many of the Alien race ships you can.  I am thinking the alien ships could potentially be extremely more difficult to acquire in the PU than the regular UEE ships.  Race rank, current political climate, War, System events, and the basic universe economy could all impact an individuals ability to purchase one.

Another thing to think about which has been alluded to in many theory craft boards is that there could potentially be a requirement to have a particular alien races ship to trade or fly specific missions.. IE you need an Xi'an Scout for a specific mission chain for the Banu in which you need to gather intel from an Xi'an controlled system.  With that in mind, In my own opinion, with the idea of purchasing alien ships I would say race proper ships would be first.. Banu MM, Vanduul Scythe, and Xi'an Khartu-al, then second go with the Esperia ships.. The Esperia ships are all limited release per the lore of the company but most likely will not be able fill the role of needing a specifics race ship for a mission.. as they are made with many human components and tech.

In summary I would say if its in your budget.. get both the Banu MM and Kartu-Al.  :)

The BMM seems like a good deal for the price now.  And I agree it is likely to increase in the future.

Given that, I'd get it.  I like the Hull C, but the BMM has its advantages of looks, planetary landing ability, cargo capacity, etc.

Can always pick up the Hull C again later if you change your mind as part of the ship repurchase program.

Cheers!

From what I'm seeing in AC, it exists so you can pull the M5As off, and put them on your sabre...
