Longer than the Starfarer!

I think that the Caterpillar might be a bit easier to solo than the Starfarer because the interior of the Caterpillar covers 2 levels, while the Starfarer has 4.  In terms of layout, I think that Caterpillar pilots will have an easier time because all the essential stations and components are in the command module.  Also, the main part of the Caterpillar's interior is basically one long corridor that opens into the modules.

Once the Caterpillar is in 3.x, we can finally find out whether the Argo, Dragonfly, Merlin or M50 will fit the Cat's cargo bay.

Yeah, half again the length of the 'Farer. But you're right, the layout is very straightforward. That said the 'Farer isn't hard to get around, it just has places to hide. Still, looking at the size of those cargo pods, I think an M50 will easily fit sideways in them.
