With the SC release not likely until next year, I think most current rigs can handle SQ42. That being said, do you have a decision whether to make a new rig or improve what you've got? I improved what I got and despite the fact that I don't worry too much about benchmarks, I benched my system last year with the FX-8350, 16 GB DDR3 1600 RAM, ASUS M5A97 mobo, and a single GTX970 SSC. Today, I benched the new and improved system with the same benchmark task: same FX-8350, 32GB DDR3 1833 RAM, 990 FX R2 Sabertooth TUF mobo, and 2xGTX970 SSC. I used the 3D Mark Firestrike Extreme benchmark. I did NOT OC my CPU within the system, it just went up to 4.335.

The difference was profound and the cost from old build to new build was $437, not including the Arctic Cooling Freezer 240 CPU cooler. GPUs stayed under 65 deg C and the CPU capped at 35 deg C (but spent most of the time at 29-31 deg C)

So, thanks to your advice almost a month ago, I made some changes to my build and wanted to share them with you:

- I found out the voucher was due to expire before the end of this month, so I made arrangements and replaced my trusty Radeon 6970 2GB with a new RX 470 STRIX 4GB.

- My rig was in storage for over 2 years, so I had to replace the thermal paste, clean out a lot of dust and I had a couple of problems with the front.  The filter was almost completely clogged up and some of the plastic covering the front was 'melted'(?) because a car perfume card fell on it while it was stored and somehow reacted with it.  The affected plastic was very soft and malleable:

- I got a replacement front plate for along with a replacement top (changed it from the pre-existing plastic cover to a mesh cover) for about 20 euro:

rig.thumb.png.31e34b4ccf00240e76662912b5845955.png

- A closer look, you can see the CPU cooler (Hyper 212 EVO) and the newly-intalled GPU:

top.thumb.png.f4ed48629ac35547ce7f6430b07d48b2.png

- As you can notice, the rear fan (a 2010 thermaltake fan) was replaced as well because it wouldn't move at all, I used a de-duster can on it and it could barely move... so I replaced it with a coolermaster fan, I would've preferred one without an LED, but that's what was available at the time.

In light of the above changes, my specs are now as follows:

- CPU - i7 3770k

- Mobo - Asus p8p67 deluxe

- RAM - 16GB DDR3

- GPU - RX 470 4GB

- SSD + HDD

Hopefully I can now play SC at a higher resolution than 1366 x 768!

Same case as me m8. I got mine in black. It's better than the other brand which has no dactal fins at the front for air flow judging by what jayz2cents says. Best tempered glass case on the market for sure.

I'll post mine again soon as I bought a cable kit from corsair (Graphite & silver) so it looks a hell of alot better now.

EVGA SC 1070 GTX

16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 @ 2800mhz

256gb Samsung 850 EVO

3 TB WD black HDD

Corsair RM850i PSU

ASUS x99 PRO motherboard

The third computer is his old build from 2011, nothing to write home about but gets the job done still!

Before and after of our desk "solution" as well, was fun diving into some woodworking instead of computer building.
