MISC Starfarer Gemini

stronger shields, better armour, bigger guns, less cargo.  Definitely meant for procurement and resupply in and around combat zones.  If you plan to fly in UEE space then the standard should be fine, but if you want to work on the lawless fringes...definitely gemini; a dead refueler is a useless refueler(and more robust ships won't need to tie up quite as many escorts)

Yes. Agree with this.

outside UEE space the Gemini for sure. But im just not sure (with one standard & a Gemini) I could utilize both to good effect so perhaps I should go with one (a Gemini). However the cargo difference might just mean 2 refuel trip inside of 1 and thats quite a big deal for player focusing on trade.

Wise man.  :)

I am a pro at playing Wallet Commander on the RSI Site.  I'm trying to avoid getting a new high score-possibly until the Reliant comes out.  My Cutlass may be on its last legs unless they get me a design post and soon!

In our lore, MISC builds the base chassis of the Gemini and Aegis finishes it as a military ship. It's entirely background flavor, based on how (for example, although this is exactly what I was thinking when I wrote that way back when) Boeing's civilian arm builds the common portion of a 737 and then hands it off to their military division to become a P-8 Poseidon. So: imagine big unfinished Starfarers getting taken out of the MISC factory before they're finished and trucked over to an Aegis facility to be finished.

I used credits to buy Gemini. Holding on to both a stardard and a Gemini just for the moment.

With such hot debate (rage? -_- ) theres a chance this could get ugly. im keeping both for now but will melt one later.

Am I wrong in seeing in the concepts, that both variants have the same fuel pods, and thinking that the reduced cargo capacity may be an internal cargo capability? Time will tell of course, as with all things CIG. I picked up a Gemini anyway, as I like the idea of a hardened fueler.

I am seriously thinking about buying it but still I want to wait for the Q&A for the Gemini. I'm just not that convinced at the moment, I hope some answers will ease my concerns. I'd love to fly a fleet support ship and provide fuel for my teammates whenever they need, add some firepower to that and Gemini is perfect. But on the other hand I worry about operating costs and the 7 crew thing is massive, I doubt people will want to crew a fueler when they can crew a Bengal or Idris. And Gemini with npc crew? Would that end badly?

I think I'd rather save my money for the Endeavour or the Crucible. Oh and I would stay away from the RSI forums right now if I were you. Terrifying.

Oh man, this picture probably got me most excited ^^

Space gantries... in SPACE!

I'm gonna stick with my normal Starfarer (LTI) though. I'm sure enough people will switch over to have all the fleet needs covered, but after already switching my freelancer to a MIS gunboat, I want to keep this thing purely commercial.

<insert $0.02 here>

So needless to say, the 7 crew thing is frustrating enough when I originally purchased this ship for solo ops.

BUT... they significantly cut the SCU on the original Star from 4043.52 to 3321.  So that 4043 SCU was my ace in the whole to get rid of my Hull C which was comparable 4608 to justify common interest.  Until Q&A is complete... logic would tell me to upgrade to the G and take the  reduced 2488 SCU for the better defensive (since I have to man 7 stations regardless to be effective), and use the Hull C in friendly skies...(space).  I won't bash you CIG...... just venting.

Just because it's equipped with 7 crew seats doesn't mean it will need 7 people to function.

you can either hire a few npc to man the guns or be really good at multitasking

also there will be system ingame to make hardpoint/hardware more automatic

I might get upgrade and save it for later, but not getting separate Gemini...

Here is a good video to help you decide.  He favors the standard Starfarer with good reason and talks about LTI (remember you can always CCU something smaller to get LTI on the standard Starfarer).  All the same.... our Squadron / Unit will be operating in Vanduul Space so we will need the Gemini's to operating in the field (hostile space).... and we can also use standard Starfarers to run the safer trade routes between our Forward Operating Base (that we will set up in Vanduul Space) and Imperium's Home System or to Market in the UEE.

Hmmm undecided should I melt my Standard Starfarer LTI to get Gemini or keep it & buy Gemini upgrade or keep it & also buy new Gemini.

Gemini has roughly 1000 less cargo hold which mean standard one got 150% more capacity. This could be quite important when supporting large ships. Tough decision.

Thoughts?

Hails Siberz4,  I am in a quandary also upon the purchase.  I am thinking of melting my standard Starfarer and purchasing the LTI one, once we get closer to the PU release I will rethink that decision and if need be recover the Standard one.  Just my thoughts on it.

LOL.  I did purchase my original Starfarer for myself to run.  I'll probably acquire another two packages sometime soon just so I have control over my two NPCs that I'll be flying with-so-its not an issue with me.

I do understand some of the backlash though, because we're not the only people who went in thinking this was a ship we could run with a small crew or solo.  Unfortunately I like the idea of having crews and specialty jobs more than my ability to solo...so...
