Dr Hydra
The point of this post it to theory craft the hull series in a combat role. The team at CIG says, basically the modularity of the Hull E far outshines any other craft being offered at this point in time. So I'm curious what you have to say in reference to the Hull series could be in a combat role, direct or otherwise. My example theory craft would be, if the Hull series can carry ship parts, why not full ships? And could those ships be magnetically clamped to an appropriate landing surface mod that attaches to those spindles? Therefore allowing a super cheap, yet super vulnerable craft transport be utilized to conserve resources in the long run. Ooo! Or maybe the Hull C you own is chalk full of mines in its cargo hold, which could easily be jettisoned mid flight to stitch some form of "No-Man's-Land" like lines threw space! Possibly blocking the entrance/ exit of a thick asteroid cluster to prevent capital ships from breaching your mining operation. If that theory doesn't tickle your fancy, feel free to reply with your own! Dr. Argon
Nip
Supply ships have always played a huge role in combat ops. Resupply, refuel, mine laying, ship/drone deployments, baiting enemy ships. It will be really interesting to see just how in depth CIG will allow these types of roles/tactics to go. Hell you could probably load up a B or C with dense ore and use it as a large, moderately inexpensive kinetic torpedo.
pyro nl
1 thingh is sure, every hauler with guns will be used at somepoint for combat for the funn ofit, saw it at ev online, yust a matter of having enough of them to be succesfull thingh is the hull armor will be weak for combatroles, the big drone fighters wil be nice
Juntau
The only information really offered on this subject was in the Hull release post which stated the Hull E could sacrifice cargo for adapters that could carry "Midget Fighters" such as the P52 Merlin. It still remains to be seem how this particular ship performs. If it is anything like the M50 it will be really hard to shoot down, so it may be a viable option for mass deployment. Xuu
It was confirmed yesterday that you can do this: (source: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14681-Hull-A-Q-A) “Can the hull ships carry smaller starfighters (packed or configured as cargo) such as the Super Hornet?” – queetz Yes! Spacecraft can be broken down into their component parts for transport, or carried in their completed forms aboard larger Hulls. There is also a ‘midget fighter attachment’ being developed for the Hull E which will allow it to drop and recover escort fighters in exchange for cargo space.
