VoA
An example of how to Logistically use Hull Ships in Hostile Zone (like Vanduul Space) - you can cut out Distribution Centers or (FOB or SD) in non-hostile space (UEE patrolled space). Replace "Labels" as follows.... +++ See detail on this link that explains difference between "Haulers" and "Transports" -->> "Suppliers" = "Asteroids" or "Combat Salvage" sites "Factory" = "Orion" or "Reclaimer" or "Starfarer" ships (that can also refine goods as they "collect them") = but stay in field to keep working (mining) "Distribution Centers" = "Forward Operating Base (FOB)" or "Supply Depot (SD)" sites = Transports (not Haulers) take goods from "mining sites" to FOB or SD = this will be short range and frequent cargo runs (with less - but protected cargo capacities) "Warehouses" = "Haulers" (not Transports) that will make longer less frequent cargo runs between FOB or SD and Customers (below). Note Haulers have enough cargo capacity to remain as stationary "warehouse" (non-persistent - protected) to deliver goods when the "price is right" to sell. "Customers" = "Planets" or "Space Station" delivery sites or sell sites ++++ NOTE ---->> The Haulers also bring back manufactured munitions and other supplies that the "Forward Operating Base (FOB)" or "Supply Depot (SD)" sites may need to continue to wage a fight. VoA
Got a C and an A today. The others were so big that I was afraid I wouldn't be able to use them solo. You are in a Squadron (and Imperium) - you don't have to worry about playing SC (an MMO) solo......... Here is a Hull D to entice you a bit more.... I can't wait until Teller comes out with his Hull E (preview)... that's my favorite in the Hull Series (and picked one up to run cargo to and from our - Blood Moon / Eclipse / Darksun - Forward operating base in Vanduul Space to Imperium's home system or factories) .... then back again with needed manufactured munitions and supplies to continue the fight... +++ also going to also use it as a non-persistent storage warehouse of goods as well until price is right to sell Ragnor
NineTailed
I ended up melting my 'lancer to pick up the B with LTI. It'll probably restrict me to the home system a bit, but I imagine it has a larger hold then the 'lancer, seeing as it's strictly cargo. I should have another in no-time, not to mention LTI so I only have to worry about cargo and stuff~! Ragnor and Bambaataa

Nameless
How do these ships stop?? (I knew something was bugging me about this design) Just like every other ship does, by using the forward-facing thrusters and yes they are there. Pinto
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14522-Star-Citizen-Careers-Mining That link says that the Orion carries 16288 SCU, so this means that the only Hulls that can fully unload an Orion are either the D or the E, being that the D would be good for a small mining operation (the spare space could be used for repair material and other things), but the E could be used for a massive mining operation with more than 6 Orions. VoA
^^^ Another Hull D video - and I love that he placed a person on a cargo pod for reference... I also noticed that the Hull D is missing its top rear turret like the Hull C and D have.... &&&&&& NOW.......... the Monster........ --->> Check out this graph and marvel at the different scales of cargo capacity (SCU) Just for perspective, a Nimitz class carrier is 52m shorter than a Hull E, and carries ~5680 people plus planes. ^^^^ Aside from the extra retro thrusters it appears the Hull E has a larger armor plated cover above and behind the bridge... (probably slides over like the Carrack and Connie). ++++ Some good quoted theory crafting and observations below..... gamerplays It seems like a lot but as others have pointed out, the Hull E holds less than current ocean transports, and much less than the biggest of them. I see the Hull E as being more of a port to port type of ship. So you would take it to a port, not a random place where folks just shop up to pick up containers from your ship. ^^^ See Distribution Center in the diagram from SC_TheBursar Consider that the Hull C 'is the most common ship in the galaxy'. A Hull E is 'only' 32 Hull Cs in capacity. Now consider the tens of thousands of spacefarers conducting trade all the time. So maybe if there is a spot shortage of missiles somewhere someone dropping off 100 missiles that only will sell slowly they'll have plugged that hole in the market. But if a planet suddenly needs 15 million SCU of food due to a failed crop it's going to take a lot of ships, even the size of an E, to do that job. Just because all we've gotten up until now is the game equivalent of a delivery van doesn't mean an actual freighter sized ship won't be able to sell all it's cargo - just like our current heavy cargo seaports. NuclearWoo
Just image using Hull A or B without cargo and contracted as drag racer. A has null cargo of 14,303kg with 1 TR5 while B as null cargo of 67,137kg with 2 TR8. I imagine it will have HUGE turning radius but on straightaway, that thing will have great acceleration. JohnWhiskey
i can see it now! announcer: "wellcome to the slow freighter drag races! where we have the biggest ships compeat to be the slowest of them al.. what?.. fastest? these ships are slow, we can follow them with our eyes and we are trying to see whitch is the fastest?... the mic is on? did i just.. ohhh..." now what would be interesting to see is a death race of transports of who gets the most stuff to the finnish line first
VoA
Here is a good Theory Crafting Video.... A few good points he made.... Hull A-E are great ore haulers (to keep the Orions in the field - to keep mining instead of breaking off the job to transport) Hull C's will be great "Bait Ships"...... to lure in Pirates and Vanduul..... - fill the cargo pods with worthless junk and set up ambushes... Hull D and E - will be expensive to operate (but will obviously make huge profits).... and will need lots of fuel (hopefully people aren't melting their Starfarers) I like the fact that people are scared to purchase the Hull D and E..... and that it will take large Orgs. (like Imperium) to logistically operate them with efficiency and proper Escort / Refueling Enjoy..... NineTailed, Gremlich and Ragnor

If pirates are smart, they will use a small and inexpensive scout ship to scan the crates of any freighter that looks interesting first, before they commit their more powerful and more expensive ships to an attack on the vessel... So the strategy mentioned under 2. will only work with dumb and inexperienced pirates. ChiefWarrant

VoA
We know that only Carrier ships like the Bengal, Pegasus, Javelin, Idris and Connies can launch and land ships in combat ...... but CR has mentioned we can haul ships within other ships cargo holds (if they fit). Now the question is will CIG allow us to attach other ships to the cargo spindels on the Hull Ships to haul them from system to system? There is a precedent for this in from my favorite Sci-Fi genre (series and movies) - Babylon 5 Pinto and Ragnor
bod699
I'm not going to be much of a trader but will look for something to Melt to pick up a Hull C. Loving the modularity of these ships. I'm also tempted to grab a 2nd one as a giveaway. Definitely not surprised with how popular the series has been and wonder how many people grabbed the Hull E's that arent part of large orgs. So the strategy mentioned under 2. will only work with dumb and inexperienced pirates. You also have to remember that the bigger the Hull the more ships it will have to protect it, so scanning cargo with a cheaper ship without the others to protect it (what would be a normal attack, since they would destroy the escorts) will be almost impossible, unless the scout can take out the protectors. This means that even if the cargo isn't that valuable they will attack full on without even knowing what is inside, especially because if they can take the Hull they will be able to transport all the cargo, and large quantities of worthless things will be worth a lot. We know that only Carrier ships like the Bengal, Pegasus, Javelin, Idris and Connies can launch and land ships in combat ...... but CR has mentioned we can haul ships within other ships cargo holds (if they fit). GeraldEvans
How does a Starfarer carry less than the Aquila? So, only a Hull D or E will be able to fully unload the Orion right? Raw ore yes, but the C can unload 8 loads of refined ore. VoA
BravoTwoZero
Since the Starfarer rating is only for the internal cargo hold, not the (much) larger external hold. And because all stats are unreliable at this stage. GeraldEvans

GeraldEvans
Except on low gravity planets where it can make a 'preferred' water landing. It weighs too much to support the structure on the ground. Plus, no landing gear below the cargo.

I think the Hull A-C can land normally on planets per CIG's new image of the Hull C landing... Ragnor
