if i honestly voice my opinion of the reason of the delay. It is 100% not the reason of how much FU they pack since all other ships have just rough estimates

and most of them still use the old FU sytem ... now its a problem ? really ? not that 90% of the player base thought the vanguard was a moneygrab?

It is both, but in reality the FU issue is directly related to each ships' value relative to the extant ship base, no matter how skewed the old numbers are.  Remember that they're trying to determine the value for 4 ships at once.  That gets really messy when they span from starter ship to something as massive as the Hull D.  For the sake of argument let's just assume that A-D roughly correspond(purely in length and beam) with the Aurora, Freelancer, Connie, and Reclaimer.  Now, if each ship had the same cargo space and armament as its counterpart then the pricing would be straight forward.  However, we know that isn't going to be the case because 1 they need the differentiate the ships(else why make them), and 2 the Hull series are dedicated haulers, and dedicated ships have always, at least in theory, been designed and speced to excell at their specialty.

Now, if we assume that the Hull series is going to wring the maximum amount of FUs out of each ship's volume, while also having less weaponry/specialized equipment(shields, advanced sensors, etc) than other ships they need to find a price point that manages to make the Hull series affordable, not so affordable that all other haulers just get melted for it, and still be in keeping with their already esoteric pricing schemes.

My bet right now is going to be $55, $140, $185, $250-275.  Numbers pulled out of my ass, but that is what I'm guessing for now.

So they are selling the Hull-E after all

To keep the illusion of basing prices on equipment and stats (both subject to change)?

My question is : will the Hull E be limited in number, that's what I would like to know (If it's to live another Javelin / Idris disaster I'd like to be ready this time)

Hello,

The Hull E WILL NOT be sold in a limited number.

why would one want the E anyway ?

- probably persistent

- probably cant land

- shitton of fuel costs / parking fees

- really really too big to fill it in the initial phase of the pu without risking to run out of money or to accidently buy into an oversaturated market

- big target sign above your head

i can see people going for an C or a D with valid reasons

except D-E can be used as a mini carrier or makeshift carrier :D (who cares about trading jkjk).

The other question is why they did stray from the initial word that the E is persistent and NPC only hmm.

But personally i have huge interest for the range a-c that will be where the profit is at.

Since low crew amount but still able to traverse the best wormhole sizes and having enough cargo to fuel usage/landingcost ratio.

Another interesting thing will be how fast they will be a-c in comparison to d-e.

The other thought i have what will theoretical replace my Banu MM or Starfarer :( ( i feel a tad of feature creep incoming)

But when the Hull series will be weapon less and slow altogether i can see that there is a valid place for a weaponized Banu

and the Starfarer with its increased armament [it got atleast 2 additional turret positions / class9 hardpoints in the back according to a dev post and the front guns look atleast scary].

It's going to interesting to see how big they going to be. If they are large, I might go for the Hull-D instead of the Hull-E.

Who am i kidding, i have to buy them all!

Good thing I have sold a bunch of ships

The Hull series prices seem quite reasonable. :)

I suppose this shouldn't be a surprise, because CIG has always under-priced mercantile ships like the Starfarer, Banu Merchantman, and now the Hull series. I don't think CIG has ever offered an official explanation, but there are many theories<_<

Regardless, I thought that the Hull C was going to be $350, but it's only $200; and the Hull D is $350. The Hull C (Discreet) is a smuggler's ship that was unlocked by the $34 Million Stretch Goal. I've always been interested in a smuggling ship, so I'll probably buy it this Friday. I already have a Banu Merchantman so I don't need a heavy freighter like the Hull D or E, but I'm interested in seeing their designs.

Hull D and E's will probably be great investments for Trade & Industry. We just have to be certain to protect them from Pirates.

Those prices seem to reasonable lol

hull E will be interesting its about the price of a 890

I expect the Hull E will be a massive super-freighter. It's priced similar to the 890 Jump but I'm certain it'll be much, MUCH larger. The 890 Jump is only 123 metres long, which is fairly large, but there are plenty of larger ships that are less expensive. The 890 Jump is premium-priced because it's a luxury star-yacht.

The Hull C's ship specs list it as 225 metres long, which is nearly the size of an Idris Frigate. The Hull E is two tiers larger, so it could be the size of a Javelin Destroyer, or larger.

Of course, it's possible that the Hull C's ship specs are out of date, because they were posted more than a year ago, long before the ship entered the Concept design phase. At the time, CIG didn't mention they were designing the Hull A thru E -- the references to the MISC Hull series was probably lore-building. I believe that CIG designed the five Hull models in linear size progression, and the third ship turned out to be smaller than 225 metres, so the Hull D became the 225-metre-long freighter originally envisioned as the C. My prediction is that the Hull C will be 100-150 metres long, which is why it's more expensive than the Starfarer.

now i wonder how many hull E's will sell for resell>?

Some, I'm sure, but since it isn't a limited number sale its rarity(and hence blackmarket value) will never be as high as the limited ships like the 890/idris/javelin/etc.  Add in the fact that I expect the hull series will only come equipped with a varying number of flak cannons(and will never be the pocket carrier the loonies always crave) and it will sell in decent quantities to those who adore transport and have/believe they will have the friends to fly escort.

Since the devs have already talked about shipping your ships to other landing sites in the galaxy I'm guessing the ships can be landed and locked in as cargo. If this is true could we not use the Hull D or E as a pocket carrier? It would easily be able to hold resupply resources.
