In todays SQ42 update newsletter they confirmed the NPC crew numbers within Squadron42.

80 crew ! It is the same as for the Javelin (according to the last information we got).

Looks like a bit over killed, will probably be used only in SQ42 to make the ship feel more "alive" than with the recommend 30-man crew :)

If it is a 3 shifts organization that mean 80/3 = 25 crews in cruise mode and maybe the full 80 crew only in battle mode.

Indeed, but the thing that is strange for me is that Javelin is said to have a full crew of 80 (includingcrew shift).
During the Invictus tour, one of the NPC in the barracks said that they have 80 beds for a total crew of 80. Thus, the Javelin is not requiring crew to do "hot bunking" and each crew member get his own private space / bed.

With that in mind, i find it weird that a frigate half the size of a destroyer needs the same crew capacity. Only explanation that I can see is for the SQ42 storyline.

Guess that we will see once we finally get our hands on an Idris !

Maybe the issue that has the Idris requiring the same (or almost the same) crew as the Javelin, is the extra personnel required to run regular flight operations (aircrew, repair crew, flight deck crew, and air traffic controllers, etc.)
