Aegis Idris Frigate

EDIT:  On another note, I wonder if the "Escort Carrier" mentioned for the $15 million goal is actually the Polaris ship concept.  I know it's labeled as a "Corvette", but it can hold a single-seater fighter and is armed to the teeth!

The Polaris is most definitely not the $15M Escort Carrier.  CIG's stretch goals were for a Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser, etc.  All this while the Idris was a "Corvette".  When they actually fleshed out the Idris they realized it was too big to be a Corvette in the 'verse, they moved it up to the Frigate role.  This meant they no longer had a "Corvette" and they made the Polaris to fill that spot.

The other factor is that the Polaris' 1 ship bay in no way qualifies it to be an "Escort Carrier".  Escort Carrier has a historic definition, just like all the others (corvette, frigate, destroyer, cruiser, etc): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escort_carrier

Of course, this is CIG's universe set 1000 years into the future, so they're free to alter the rules as they see fit.  But based on what they've already defined (corvette, frigate, destroyer), if they made the "escort carrier" into a 1-fighter carrying craft, there would be a popular revolt and probably lawsuits about CIG ignoring the stretch goal they committed to.  I expect it to carry 20-40 single seat fighters when they finally implement it, and it will almost certainly be a persistent ship in the 'verse that doesn't log out when its owner does.

If cig releases a big guns corvette for engaging big ships (so not an anti small ships escort like hammerhead, but a sort of polaris with huge guns  instead of torps) with a price tag under 1000 warbond and 1100ish with CCU it will get a crapton of money. Much more that with a pocket carrier.

Like smaller than a railgun but bigger than the the standard size whatever mounts already on these ships? I can't disagree, especially not after the Idris-K weapon upgrade kit that I'm pretty sure did pretty well.  But I'm not so sure that it doesn't step all over the toes of what already exists, as we already have the Idris-M and Idris-K and Javelin doing basically the same things.

Also again IzeManZaroth, another fake there was no Idris-M sold in 2014 how hard is that to understand. Idris-M's were sold previous to the 1st anniversary sale and then NEVER again. If you somehow got one in 2014 in any way shape or form it was with the Assistance of Customer Service but that is extremely unlikely.

Nice jump/ screen switch from the obviously missing Buy button straight into a cart where it clearly says KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE on the Idris. In 2014 the only way to get an Idris-M was 1. through someone that already owned the KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE Idris-M via gifting or some Customer Service Shenanigan. 2. buying the 10k or 15k Packs.

@Gustav.HenrikAgain still wrong.. did you not read my last post.  If you melt and buy back a ship with new funds it will have both the new purchase date and also allow it to be gifted.

Allow me to laugh at your baseless and wrong assumptions. LOL!

PU earning rates aren't set in stone... because it's the ALPHA. Nothing is set in stone. A ship or weapon could be dominant for one release and nerfed in the next update. The earning rates could increase or decrease dramatically according to CIG's whims. The UEC ship prices could also change radically. There's no way to know with any certainty. The best we can ever do is use logic and the information currently available to make educated guesses.

I've seen evidence that SC players can grind out millions of aUECs in the span of a quarter, which means it's technically possible for a solo player to earn enough creds to buy a cap ship, such as the Polaris.

I've solo-ed my Caterpillar plenty of times and IME I died and lost my cargo far more often because of glitches than from enemy players attacking me. Therefore, solo-ing a Cat doesn't "get you killed ASAP" -- whatever that means (what, does the Caterpillar spontaneously blow up immediately after takeoff?).  Of course it's possible that your ship will be attacked; that's always the risk. Does that mean it's impossible to solo a freighter? NO! If it's difficult and dangerous, does that mean some players won't try to solo a freighter? NO! Players will try all sorts of things and sometimes they'll succeed and sometimes they'll fail. Your blanket statements about it being impossible to solo a Caterpillar are utterly meaningless.

The cargo commodity timers you mentioned are a stopgap solution to prevent traders from exploiting the current Alpha Economy model. CIG intends to implement a highly sophisticated Supply-&-Demand Economy System, wherein nothing magically appears out of thin air (i.e. generated by the game). Once that system is operational, there won't be commodity timers. Trade items will either be in stock or they won't be because player or NPC traders delivered them, or didn't. If there's a shortage, the value of those trade goods will increase and players will earn greater profits. If there's a surplus, the profit margin will shrink but there will be plenty of stock for traders to haul. Traders aren't going to be sitting around waiting for a timer to expire.

CIG is designing the PU for all types of players, not just Orgs. So if a player wants to try to earn enough creds to buy a cap ship, and then try to fly it solo, it's at least possible to do that, no matter what people like you "think".

Wrong. Capital ships are unattainable for single players. They are only attainable by using a Credit Card. And for the people using a credit card (Warbond) both Idris-P and Javelin are now Time Limited number unlimited purchases.

Keep telling yourself that, its just silly. It's beyond confirmed what Chris Roberts vision is for capital ships.

In the interview explaining ingame ship prices he clearly describes how incredibly expensive Capital Ships are going to be obviously they are intended for group play Only and will be priced so that it is absolutely impossible for one person/player to ever get into the same magnitude of wealth required to acquire one. They will be intended for big organizations to buy with common funds. Just one of many interviews referenced HERE

Also in the Anni Special Segment on Javelin CIG's intention for who can have a capital ship is put clearly with the answer to this question:

Q: What type of player will have a javelin?

A: -"What type of player, honestly someone that was lucky enough to buy on of the few limited ships we sold"

A capital ship is the equivalent of a castle in a medieval MMO something that only a BIG very wealthy organization can ever afford to buy. Or a credit card.

In the original Chris Roberts interview he even says straight out that capital ships are intended to be priced so that organizations can afford them, they are not in any way shape or form meant to or will be able to be afforded by 1 person alone. Try 100 person strong organizations working hard, thats more realistic.

Its also extremely likely there will be an ingame yearly auction of capital ships where you are in competition with other orgs to buy a Capital Ship. I do 100% expect the capitals to NOT have a fixed price but be put up for auction to the highest bidding organization!!

WHAT?!?!?!  You mean I won't be able to replace all of my WoW gold farming revenue with Star Citizen Cap Ship farming revenue?  I am SO disappointed!

But, as for Imperium, I think we'll do fine.  Many of our members already own some of the various Capital Ships, and for those who don't?  Well, I like to take pride in the fact that we have a level of organization that seems to put us ahead of many of our rivals, so I wouldn't be surprised if we will be able to acquire many more (over time).

But whether you're right, or you're wrong...  this topic honestly isn't worth everyone getting all riled up over.

Agreed with @Arcanus

CIG has been known to change their minds, is it worth arguing about it now or any further?  We've got some capital ships in our ranks--which is awesome.  Let's leave it at that and worry about tomorrow when it comes.

Back to the Idris, anyone think we'll see more of this awesome ship at the 2949 Intergalactic Aerospace Expo or during CitizenCon?  I remember they showed us a shell of the ship last year which was pretty neat!

Reavern, I totally agree.  He is arguing just to hear himself ramble on about nothing.  There is nothing to see here, move along.

ZNC

Yeah, he's obviously been laughed off of Spectrum; now he's off-topic ranting on our public threads. No one cares.🙄

Hopefully CitizenCon will have some new cap ship gameplay video and we'll get this thread back on track.
