Gladius and the 890 Jump

Well after comparing size the the Gladius is quite smaller then a regular 300i series, and the as far as i know from forum posts the 890 Jump will likely be able to hold a 300i, seeing as we will get a new deck plan and such when its further down the pipeline. my question is, are there any indications on weather or not a Gladius or ship as small or smaller then the 300i will work? id like to travel with the my Gladius in the hangar in case i run into trouble, is there any indication or forum posts that indicates we can transfer ships that fit into corresponding hangars?

Ben recently mentioned it is up to Behavior (they are working on the 890 Jump). They have been monitoring the 890 Jump design RSI forum thread so there is a good chance the answer will be yes.... And modify the hangar to fit an 300i or smaller which would include the Gladius

awesome thanks!

While I am all for the idea of having large ships being capable of having some kind of an escort fighter/snubfighter, I am not so keen on how they seem to be making pretty much everything bigger than a Connie possibly into a mini-pocket carrier. While the 890 may be able to FIT a 300 series or Gladius, they aren't going to be able to fit all of the fuel/repair/armament facilities within it as well. If they keep going down this track I hope they decide to make some diminishing returns for having a larger fighter-type in the hangar of the ship.

well,,, imo for ships (in SPACE!) frigate sized and bigger that have hangars (and imo most of them will, in game no idea tho) will have enough space for at least 2 small ships/shuttles (1 empty space for guests and 1 occupied space for w/e you are going) for ease of resupply and personal transfer (unless the ship is like a cruise liner and only docks with space stations, and even then some will have hangars)

so while a ship may have a hangar space for 1 or 2 small ships, that's not really a pocket carrier, something that carries say 6 or more (of aurora sized or bigger) while staying the size of a frigate is more like a pocket carrier

if you look at what the javelin destroyer can hold (until they change) it's pretty much only 1 ship, with 2 only for the aurora and M50

like probably swapping the cargo bay for a mini hangar module?

sounds interesting

yup got that whole modular thing going on there soooo depending on the person and how they outfit the ship, they may not even have a hangar anymore, or have a larger hangar but no cargo space,,,, i really want to see if i can make a large cargo ship hold like 20 fighters, but not in combat as that would be asking to get destroyed

As far as I'm concerned, the 890 is a Yacht and does not warranty anything bigger than something like a Captain's 2-seater runabout or maybe, at the largest, the Merlin or M50. It is not a carrier.

A carrier holds multiple full sized ships the 890 jump is large enough for at least a 300i size and smaller and should be able to hold one, for the reason it is a yacht and should have that type of versatility not only for exploration but protection as well. it will come with a runabout, maybe two of them however it should be able to fit a full sized ship as a upgrade over the run about. If the carrack gets a rover and a small utility craft the 890 should get the capacity for 1 fullsize epically since it's $250 more

The extra $250 is a surcharge for the ritz and status of the 890. I think the hangers are appropriately sized.

I think I'm quoting Ben here, but really saying an 890 with a 300 series inside is a "pocket carrier" is rather silly. The 890 will already be able to fit at least 2 M50's inside and very likely a 300 series (which probably will be a 350r outfitted for interdiction).

You don't need an entire deck of the ship devoted to fleet maintenance in order to keep a single fighter ship outfitted for several excursions from a ship.

You do need such in a ship like the Idris which has to house up to 3 super hornets and munitions for each.

I'd like to be able to see even a Gladiator fit in the 890 but maybe I'm just not seeing the big fuss.

If I spent say $60,000,000 of a super yacht. I would be slightly annoyed if the manufacturer told me I could only have a mini with it. I'd tell them to get lost and have room for my Ferrari.

Multiple ships would be questionable but room for any fighter sized craft doesn't seem out of place to me. Its a very big and expensive ship, it should be versatile.

Most corvette and upwards naval ships these days carry 1-3 helicopters but certainly aren't classed as pocket carriers.

So unless I read the dimensions in length wrong, if I can fit a 300i I should also be able to fit my Hornet.

Which on a tangent reminds me off Apollo escorting Colonial 1 in BSG. (Geek moment sorry)

Sure why not? if it fits it should work i think

It's still a yacht. The first time one of you guys with you 890 get easily owned, we don't wanna hear about it. Because it's a yacht.

Yacht means super good ship of its size it will be the Connie phoenix of its size, the 890 jump community including myself bought it for luxury and that means high quality, ships are like guns in double 0 seven and the 890 jump should be the golden eagle of its size.

I bought it because of what it is. A luxo barge. However I fully expect it to see off a couple of fighters atleast.
