61 Million: Esperia Prowler!

97zYzjL.jpg

At $61 million, you’ll unlock the boarding ship…

  • Esperia Prowler – Named after the UPE military designation, the Prowler is a modernized version of the infamous Tevarin boarding craft from the First Tevarin War. With the recent discovery of the lost Tevarin planet in Kabal System, Esperia’s engineers were given unmitigated access to examine the preserved ships found in several of the caches, before meticulously recreating the design choices. The Prowler’s effectiveness as a rapid personnel deployment vehicle was mainly due to its silence. The boarding was constructed using a variety of techniques to minimize its signatures and get close to unsuspecting vessels before quickly deploying their boarders via EVA. With the updated Prowler model, you will find the perfect fusion of two culture: the elegance and effectiveness of the Tevarin war machine combined with the reliability of modern UEE technology. (While lacking some of the upgrades of the modern version, vintage Tevarin-built Prowlers restored for modern spaceflight are prized by owners lucky enough to locate them.)

it is done!

I was kind of surprised that we didn't hit more stretch goals considering there was the herald, the redeemer and gladius on sale.

Next big/important aspect on my time schedule - hopefully getting a november sale like last year :)

When they first announced the sale I was expecting a larger haul as well, but then I stopped to consider the ships being sold.

Herald is cool, no denying that, but it is for a niche role, and to add to that it is a role we don't know much about yet, so the numbers were never going to be sky high.  Also, given its low price if someone melted a ship to get it the impact on the pledge counter would be pretty small.

Gladius was sold back in July or August, and quite a few people got them then(and then retroactively got LTI).  It is small, fast, but relatively lightly armed.  With the other choices for light fighters out there(325, Khartu-al, even the m50) the Gladius was never going to tear up the charts as a "MUST HAVE".  And it also falls into the melt a small ship category.

Redeemer ends up being a controversial design, if only because there was the competition over TNGS, and a lot of people get very polarized about silly stuff once you let them vote, not to mention that its original stats + carrying boarders left some unclear about what role it would exactly fulfill.  Some wanted it for combat and saw it as too undergunned, those who didn't care about troop capacity bemoaned its wasted space on jump seats, while the FPS/boarding crowd did buy them up.  While they did adjust the number and size of guns carried, some of the damage was already done, if only because you have to actually be following the site/forums to even know that they upped the firepower.

Last possible reason is that, from what I understand, the Gladius and Redeemer are going to stay up for sale.  If a player doesn't care about LTI(Redeemer) then they'll wait for a more budget friendly time to buy, and if they do care and have some LTI ships held over for CCU, they can wait now and get the ship when they want.

Still, either way you look at it the sale did bring in just under 2 million, so I'm sure CIG isn't complaining.

I think the Prowler adds a really unique strategy to the mix of things, sort of like a Trojan horse.

I can't wait to see the concept art for it!

@Osclin you made a lot of good points mate.

I just thought that the Redeemer would be a really big success due to the TNGS show and everything. On top of that the Herald was a super cheap way to get CCU for later on and thought that would bring in heaps of money as well. Almost 2 million isn't bad at all I guess after all :)

Third starter was the clear winner? Guess what the 62th million stretch goal is ;)

Genesis-class Starliner – The Genesis is yet another landmark in Crusader Industries’ proud history of transport designs. This ship utilizes award-winning manufacturing techniques and the highest quality parts to create one thing; a next-generation passenger ship at a price that won’t break your budget. Crusader Industries’ proprietary NeoG engine technology offers some of the most efficient flight for a ship of its size. The Genesis line has been cited in Whitley’s as “one of the most reliable and safe public transport ships on the market.” Genesis Starliners are available in a number of stock configurations, focusing on everything from passenger capacity to freight to overall comfort. The UEE military operates multiple Genesis conversions for support roles, including SWACS and starflight test operations.

Both the Drake Herald and Reedemer are doing just fine (SALE ENDS TOMORROW for the Concept sale and LTI :excl: ) - they just didn't spike (and performed well over time).  A typical day for RSI is around $30k to $50k..... but if you look at the past week it has been steadily higher.  You'll also note that after they did the stat change for the Redeemer sales went up as well (even though CIG constantly says Stats are in flux...... people get fixated on them still  )

SWACS version of starliner got my attention...

It would have to either have some REALLY long range sensors(relative to the current scale of things in game) or be more heavily armed/armoured than I imagine to be truly viable.  Most current AWACS planes are simply modified airliners, but they can see hundreds of miles.  Don't know how swacs and instancing will get along.

Slightly smaller than a connie? Jeez, sounds like a big boarding ship. I assumed being a silent runner it was going to be smaller ship with a small boarding party. Sounds like this thing could be dangerous for large persistent ships.

Echoing @Minted. Damn, that's big! That's just a tad bigger than the Redeemer; it's going to have to be stealthy to get past capital ships' point defenses! Though just think about how many troops that can hold. Hell, you could probably fit twenty or more into the Connie's cargo hold... imagine 3 similarly-sized fully-loaded Prowlers flying to board a Bengal! Somewhere around 60 troops?! Ho-ly!

I'm not surprised that the Prowler will slightly smaller than a Constellation. That's what I expected it to be.

It doesn't make sense for the Prowler to be smaller, because the Cutlass and Redeemer already fulfill the role of a boarding craft for that size of ship. Another 30-40 metre long boarding craft would be redundant. Also, the Redeemer is 38 metres long and can only carry 6 marines. That's a lot of ship for only 6 grunts. And 6 marines won't be enough to capture a cap ship.

I expect the Prowler will carry upwards of 20 marines, so it makes sense it's approx. 60 metres long. I just hope the Prowler is a wide ship, like a flying wing design. That would enable the ship to have a low-profile hull, so it's stealthy; it would have plenty of internal space for carrying marines; it wouldn't need to be as long as a Connie; and it would be a more imaginative and distinctive ship design. :)

Considering that the Espera Prowler is supposed to be designed after a Tevarin boarding craft, it should be radically different than UEE ships. I hope that whoever ends up designing the Prowler takes full advantage of their artistic imagination and creates a truly unique ship.

No news on the Prowler - it hasn't been assigned a concept artist yet. It will likely be the last of the 'wave 3' jobs ships that you see.

Not to be rude...but shouldn't this entire post be moved to the ship discussion?

Actually we need to create an Esperia ship manufacturer section in the ship forums like recently done for Crusader Industries (for the Starliner) - then move this thread into that section - thanks @Gallitin

What does a boarding ship even look like? I've seen the Vanduul one which looks like a kind of leach. I wonder if it'll be something like that.

Something like this specialist boarding craft which doesn't have any combat capability?

When I started my Star Citizen journey in 2012 I was a single gamer.  In the years since I have become married and now about to have my second child.  Real life has Priorities and I have determined I just don't have the time to commit to this game that I once did.  All of these ships are Original Concept - LTI.  I CCU'd an Aurora LX back in 2013 to a Super Hornet which is listed.  If the ship comes with a game package. it is also listed.  All sales will be done over Pay Pal.  I have had a long history on these forums and have done a lot of trades on this forum,  Reddit with Kane, and Shroud of the Avatar Forums.  If you would like we can also use a third party middleman.  I would prefer Kane as I have worked with them in the past.

If you are interested please PM me.  I have confirmed that all ships listed below are giftable. I can also post images if you would like.  Seems kind of tedious to do though for something that can be pulled from any unverified source.  On another note I do still plan on playing.  I have another dozen or so ships that I have purchased third party that are currently not giftable.  The math get wonky though with having to factor in credit resell values after melting and buying back with new funds.  In any case.  I will continue to monitor game development and hope to see you all in the verse.
