Aegis Vanguard - Twin Engine Deep Space Fighter

It cannot cost more than a hornet or I doubt it will be a commercial sucess.

Moreover I hope it will be different than the hunched-back turtle that I saw in some picuture.

but if it is bigger and lets say comes with the jumpdrive, would it not be worth more than a hornet.

I thought the super hornet has a jump drive which is why it has the bigger power plant and engine.

Hopefully $50 more than the super hornet. It's still a two man ship that has longer range than most fighters. I can't see it being sold for more than any multicrew ship.

Is it confirmed a two man fighter? It made it sound like a single seater on the website by comparing its systems to "other single seat fighters"

Definition of Vanguard: the soldiers, ships, etc., that are at the front of a fighting force that is moving forward

I think Vanguard is perfect given the anticipated role of the craft. Being a deep space heavy fighter that should be able to push forward from other support ships at a range that other fighters could not

If you read the description given by CIG, it accommodates pilot and radar operator.

Bullfrog ? i like it.

@spaceworm, i think the hornet and super hornet can install a jump drive but i do not think they comes with one.

Right?  I figure it would be an excellent way to introduce the whole reptile, dinosaur naming convention to Aegis ships.

You know....  Like..   Aegis Viper...  Aegis Raptor...  lol.

It was mentioned on the last RtV that Vanguard, Starliner, and Reliant has been assigned for concept.  As for time frame, it is nothing but a guess but at least we now know it is being worked on.

I'm pleased that CIG chose the Vanguard as one of the first 4th Wave ships to concept. It's probably a no-brainer for CIG, because they know the Vanguard will be extremely popular -- but I'm glad they made the right call.

I predict that the earliest we'll see the Vanguard Concept Sale is the summer. Based on the last two years, CIG will probably release the 4th Wave ships as Concept Sales in the Fall. The Xi'an Scout and Banu Merchantman were released for the November 2013 Anniversary Sale, and four out of the six 3rd Wave Ships were released Fall 2014. I believe that trend will continue.

Any ship can install a jump drive (was on a 10FTC or at least a Video with CR as I remember him explicitly saying it [cant remember which video]).

The Hornet F7C, F7C-S, F7C-R DO NOT come standard with a jump drive, The F7C-M DOES come standard with a jump drive.

I would also expect the Vanguard to come standard with a jump drive as well.

Wow - contemplating melting the best 1v1 combat ship in the game (aside from New Corvette, Idris and Javelin) for a Long Range fighter (that will be a good escort but not as good of a dog-fighter as a Hornet)?  The Phoenix will destroy a Vanguard and will have long range plus it can run probably the most profitable missions in the game (VIP missions, and various other missions not available to the Vanguard).  The Phoenix will be many times more valuable as well in the PU since they are basically sold out (the 128 that are available - will no be released again per Ben = last RTV) until the PU.  When the PU launches all those that are new to the game that didn't back early will want want (low supply - high demand).  Maybe Melt a Cutlass Blue but not a Phoenix ;)

So... where does the Origin 890J sit compared to the Phoenix then huh?

And yes This:

Maybe Melt a Cutlass Blue but not a Phoenix ;)

+1 for the C'Blue Melt, it's easier to get back then a melted Phoenix on the old hip pocket if you ever get the money to get it again and feel like asking Concierge to get it back.

I have both a Phoenix and 890 Jump (and yes I know they are somewhat redundant for the VIP missions).  A Phoenix is a better concept ship than the 890 Jump but the 890 Jump will make more UEC per mission (each have +/-).   Both are far more valuable and will have even greater value in the PU due to their rarity than a Vanguard (I think we agree on that - just trying to @Kobool not to melt the Phoenix).

How do you figure that?

I'm just curious as to where your getting this information from, If so I might have to Unmelt my 2nd 890J, and possibly sell the one I have now to a friend who wanted one.

No one has "definitive information" (not even CR) since it is all subject to change and in development.  I am going off of what I have heard from CIG (from various posts, vids, etc...).  UEC payout will be based on Risk / Reward.  Running VIP missions will probably net some of the highest UEC since VIPs pay better (more so than standard transport missions), they often require security, escort, maybe subject to kidnapping, bounty, etc....  The Phoenix will be able to run these mission for individuals or small parties of NPCs and it will be able to defend itself better than almost any other ship (other than capital ships)... it will have stronger hull, class - 9 hardpoint, Lynx, etc....

The 890 Jump will be able to run larger delegations of NPCs and thus probably net the most amount of UEC per mission.  The most valuable cargo you can carry (even more valuable than "info") is "people"....... and VIPs fit at the top of that category.

Fact remains that the Vanguard will be an awesome ship simply because it's an Aegis Dynamics ship! Not some overpriced piece of crap like Origin Junkworks ships. :P

But yeah, given the choice I would melt the Cutlass Blue as it's a superficial ship with horribly done interior in my opinion (what are these, cells for midgets?). It's also from Cardboard Interplanetary so you know the deal when it comes to armor. A Vanguard would only need to do a single pass and that Cutlass will burst open like a piñata!

In my opinion the Vanguard should have similar firepower to a Super Hornet, but also with big internal fueltanks for long range yet at the cost of maneuverability/agility compared to the SH. I am saying this because I just know CIG will set the price at $175-$200.

I just hope it won't be like the Redeemer cash-grab where everyone was expecting the Redeemer to be around $175-$185 (already pretty generous for a ship with Freelancer stats that CIG got for free) and then CIG put it up for $250 (and had to add more guns and bigger missiles halfway through just to sell it).

In defense of cutlass, I would wait on melting any cutlass with LTI till we see what foundry 42 has done with it.

Aye, cutlass is going to change/keep changing, and you can't really compare the two vessels anyway, since one is a dedicated fighter and the other is a multi-role ship.  If you want to fight you shouldn't be bothering with a cutlass anyway, anymore than you'd bother trying to haul cargo/salvage wrecks with a vanguard or SH

True and I do have full confidence in ships being (re)done by F42. I don't know why but it's like the ships made in the US are all hollow tubes with inconvenient layouts  while the UK made ones actually feel like functional ships. :)

I just hope they don´t skipp the concept sale like they did with the Mustang. I bought an extra Aurora to upgrade to the Mustang with LTI because of that in the last days of LTI. I just don´t like the fact that there is the possibility of loosing a 250U$/€ ship, LTI is the security that it´ll never run out of insurance, no matter how long i play.

That said, I´d still buy it like the Gladius on the first day (which received LTI :D!), just because I like the idea of the ship.

The only problem I currently see is that there is no way to outrun someone if the base speed is not high enough. So a B&Z style gameplay may be a bit tricky --> thus me dying more often.

That said this will probably be one of the last ships, if not the last ship I´ll buy.

Can´t wait to see Gurmukh´s concept
