VoA
Hope its not too expensive, cause i need one! Ya... I didn't think I "needed" an 890 Jump (especially since the Phoenix is my favorite ship)... but that equation changed... when the Blood Moon Squadron started - literally today (wanted to get one as our Squadron ship for meetings / mission briefings / C&C / and vacations )...... same logic applies to the MISC Endeavor ... however it doesn't fit my personal play style as much as the 890 Jump Does... I want to make sure that Blood Moon Squadron has one... and Death of a Spaceman is an extremely important mechanic.... so did I think I needed one... not necessarily.... do I now think I need one... ya.... I'm guessing $350-$450. It would follow historical pricing, but of course there's always arbitrary rarity pricing depending on what CIG does with it (ex: limited - 500). CIG is clever aren't they - see my comment above..... it appears I am again succumbing to CIG's awesome marking campaign.. even the expensive ships draw me in.. Ya... ya.... the only thing that is holding me back from Wing Commander (and potentially beyond)..... is real life commitments to the $ pool but I could easily pull the trigger if I want to ---- still trying to "justify" how much I already spend on the game. That and beside the ability to buy every ship in the game (including the new ones they come up with) is my first priority in most games I play.... start from the beginning and play the whole game. I am beyond that now..... but do I really want to skip to the end goal? Ya I know eventually we get the Javelin and others but still you get the drift. At least you bought your personal fleet to share... I did the same Inkarnus and xyphon
Core
The Endeavor’s main compartment is modular, allowing an alternate configuration as a Hope-class floating hospital. This variant is employed by the UEE and other organizations as battlefield support, capable of getting marines and pilots back to the battle as quickly as possible! My comment is direct at CIG and not at ThunderSnake Just to clarify My biggest concern here is: If this can be a hospital ship for marines and pilots, there better be an easy way to dock ships to the fucking thing or to have ships docked to it for when those pilots "respawn" otherwise the pilots/marines will just pile up in there with no goddamn way to go. CyberianK
And I doubt 1 cutlass red ambulance is gonna carry a marine platoon back into combat apart from hangar like compartments as seems the case with the cutlass red here there are standard docking rings the docking rings are supposed to work for a multitude of ships if not all of them but they have drawbacks for duration and complexity of the docking process, so a problem in extreme situations with the docking rings it might be possible to dock an Idris full of wounded marines on the one side and an empty Idris on the other then wait for the marines to be processed all heavy theorycrafting of course Byronyk and Auzten

And I doubt 1 cutlass red ambulance is gonna carry a marine platoon back into combat I'm hoping for some cylindrical, extending/retracting walkways. But, I think there will be just more open areas of the ship easier to dock with though. Also, I'm kind of wondering about the extent of what "Hospital" means. I think out-patient clinic is more what it is going to be like, with cosmetic facilities and possibly vendors with health/vitality boosters/replenishers. Maybe as well as a respawn area, one can only dream! I would assume it would be a limited number of respawns per minute or whatever, as to not create too much of an advantage. R3dac73d
Hrmm... blackmarket surgery... its not prohibited in Imperium is it... I think it's been stated in the developer forums that black market health care is planned, maybe not organ harvesting, but pirates need bandages too, and if the UEE is hot on their tails, they'll need to seek it elsewhere Flatfoot
Wu Jen
I would assume it would be a limited number of respawns per minute or whatever, as to not create too much of an advantage. Not going to happen. RPS: Your plans for the scale of this game are positively insane, but how does it all actually work? What happens if I, say, die in combat? What’s the penalty? Chris Roberts: Here’s the thing. I’m actually bummed by the current design philosophy, where there’s no penalty for doing not particularly well. A lot of games I play, console games, I don’t play very smart because I know that when I respawn, I’m a second away. I just go in guns blazing and bully my way through the story. I really like Demon’s Souls. I completed it and almost finished a second playthrough. I don’t usually put that kind of time into playing a game, but it was like 200-plus hours of being obsessed for two or three weeks straight. One of the things I liked about it was there were real consequences. The good thing about that was that when I achieved something, I really felt like I’d achieved something. It wasn’t easy. It was a combination of the most frustrating and the most rewarding game I’ve played in a long time. In this, I don’t think we’re going to be quite as tough as Demon’s Souls, but there needs to be some penalty. You can’t just blast away and then respawn and go back. If you go out in space and your ship gets destroyed, you’ve lost your ship. We’re basically trying to do a lot of things like the real world. We’re trying to simulate an economy. You can buy ship insurance just like you could buy car insurance in the real world. You can buy cargo insurance. If you’re smart, you’ll pay a bit of money for insurance, because… With insurance, if you get blasted, you’ll lose your cargo, you’ll end up on the same planet again in a replacement ship. If you don’t have insurance you’re going to lose it all. You can take that risk, but it shouldn’t be the idea that you just go out there and get blasted and just instantly respawn with a ship. There needs to be a consequence. Puls0nic, Flatfoot and Rakos
Rakos
Not going to happen. Is Wu Jen Japanese for dream crusher? So, there's supposed to be some sort of penalty in civilized space for killing ejected pilots, I wonder if its enough to stop it from happening. Moreover, if i have to choose between waking up at the funeral as my beneficiary or waiting for an ambulance to bring me to a ship that i have to sit in and wait for it, or another ship, to give me a ride back to the insurance company, i wonder which one will end up being faster. I would hope if you do die in space, without the option for rescue, it wont take 20 minutes or longer to keep playing. Or maybe the hospital can revive if you have died within a certain time frame and aren't in too many pieces. (dont you dare kill this dream with your bothersome facts)

AstroJak
I think this ship is one of the most interesting and varied ship plateform so far. My only question would be ; what will the mad scientist mechanic look like? Can I create my new zombie army via space dust and dark matter? Or do I need more than that... Can someone enlighten me already!!!
Wu Jen
I take back everything I said. Just watched the new 10fortheChairman, CR said the Hospital ship would act as a respawn point. He also said the Cutlass Red would save your character from losing 1 life. From what he said before I had a hard time believing that he would 180 but apparently it has changed and now we have new info..... xyphon and VoA

From what he said before I had a hard time believing that he would 180 but apparently it has changed and now we have new info..... You don't spawn in your ship though, so you have to find a way to fight. Shuttles back to an Idriss or nearest planet to pick up a new ship, i guess. It doesn't seem like too much of an advantage. The question before this one on 10fortheChairman talks about ships docking. I am wondering if the Endeavor will be able to have a bigger ship docked, so the injured that are respawning/ambulanced in can move onto a troop carrier that will fly away when full. He also said if the ships cant dock, you can EVA to the other ship, which is sweet. VoA
Valenquo
Well looking at what they said about the Constellation and Retaliator being able to dock with an Idris probably means that they are looking at bigger ships being able to dock with each other. The caveat being that they won't be able to move when doing so. That should help the logistic of transferring people and equipment while in space. Ya, i would assume the hospital ship would be at a rally point, with a few swarming hornets/avengers and a frigate or two, maybe even the Bengal if we have one. Byronyk
The question specifically asked if the Endeavor would act as a mobile respawn point which CR responded with "Yes." It could be that the respawn mechanics are not as cut and dry as all that, but CR also has to balance fun and realism together. It may not be fun waiting for 30 minutes while a cutlass red tries to find you/revive you. We'll see. VoA

NuclearWoo
Since Endeavor is wave 4 ship that was recently announced, we won't see any concepts until mid next year, time frame speculation on my part.
Reavern
NuclearWoo is correct, CIG won't be selling the Endeavor in a Concept Sale until the finalized concept art is complete. That process takes several months, and the 4th Wave Ships probably aren't high priority ATM, so I'd say it'll be 6 months at the earliest before the Endeavor is ready for a Concept Sale. It would be great if CIG made the Concept Sales and new Ship Wave polls an annual event in the Fall. They have polls to choose the Next Wave Ships, and they release the previous Wave Ships in Concept Sales to rapidly achieve the Stretch Goals. eNeRGy
The Endeavor has also found its way into the service of less reputable organizations, where it can has been modified for everything from narcotics production to black market surgery. NewzyOne
I must admit, the idea of running a black-market pharmacy lab from a hospital-lookalike sounds fun.. and might be even more fun if pirates choose to do it and we choose to quell it.
