Here is a topic for those interested in the Dragon Con Atlanta event (8/29 to 9/1/2014). This is Sci-Fi Fantasy based comics, shows, and games entertainment, with a ton of vendors and the usual suspects who dress funny.

CIG will be there with:

David Ladyman (I think he will be involved with one of the Writer's Workshop events).

Ben Lesnick

Dave Haddock

David Hobbins

and Alex Mayberry

No conformation seen on CIG participation dates, but I imagine most of the action will be on Saturday and Sunday (8/30 and 8/31). Gaming Booths and Vendors will be open all four days but some participants only show for a day or two.

There are entry fees of course, and some multi-day packages available (At the door, or pre-order).

Dragon Con 2014 (August 29 - September 1)

$130 Friday to Monday 4-day (available for purchase on Thursday and Friday only)

$100 Saturday to Monday 3-day (available for purchase on Saturday only)

$60 Sunday to Monday 2-day (available for purchase on Sunday only)

$40 Friday only (available for purchase on Friday only)

$50 Saturday only (available for purchase on Saturday only)

$40 Sunday only (available for purchase on Sunday only)

$30 Monday only (available for purchase on Monday only)

I am poking at the youngin to see if he wants to go, since he is playing a lot more games than I am. He is sort of fixated on his trip to the Anaheim BlizzCon later this year, but I may be able to twist his arm to drive to Atlanta with me.

Later this week I will know for sure if I will be in Atlanta on Labor Day weekend.

How about you !? - DRUM out

Might be fun, if CIG is doing their own event like they did at PAX.  PAX was a disappointment the only real fun part was the CIG party.

If they have their own I'll be going, if not then I'll pass.

Dragon*Con is a great event, I had lots of fun when I used to live down there. I miss being an hour-ish from Atlanta sometimes. Worth going to if you dig cons, CIG or not.

Agreed with @Zhane, though it's been about 10 or 11 years since I went... so I suppose my view is old.  However, DragonCon still is established as one of the best Cons in that part of the country.  They usually have a good mix of events and guests - worth checking out if you're able to get to ATL.
