Science at work.
Interesting site. I have been watching for the last two hours. The “Big I” was used in atomic tests shortly after WWII. (Test ABLE and test BAKER). The contaminated hull was decontaminated and later sunk off the California coast once the testing was completed. A research team is now investigating the site. (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Independence_(CVL-22) )
They will be at it for awhile yet. 18 hours (today) on first attempt and further examination later.
Good site to watch them as they work at:

The team is exploring USS Independence, a WWII aircraft carrier, conducting a visual survey of her wreck for the first time.
