  1. It looks ridiculous, but it actually performs very well. It's not "exactly" 4K. One model has two 1440p screens upscaled to 4K, and a higher end model has two 4K native screens. The FOV is also impressive. Between this, and the FOIP/VOIP for Star Citizen, I don't believe you could make the game any more realistic feeling
  2. Was searching around VR things and the OMNI creator was talking about before Rifts release the creator contacted OMNI about checking out his product with a few other game developers (Chris Roberts), just shows him for a few seconds in the room but thought it was cool.
  3. For those who don't want to spend a lot on VR but still want to experience it, this might be the product for you

    Feedback Wanted Tether Free VR

Came across this piece of kit and wondered if anyone has tested it or heard any feedback? Apparently, it frees your VR gaming experience from the constraints of tethers. it's 100% compatible with Oculus Rift or HTC Vive and requires no hardware modification or adjustment. http://kwikvr.com/
  5. As you may or may not know, I built a computer and got into SC (and thereby Imperium) specifically because I wanted the vastness of space as realized by Chris Roberts, and displayed in VR. Well my Rift is here, and while there are a few bugs to fix, I have to say there is nothing to put things in perspective as walking out onto the pad in Olisar and to feel like you're there. To have the ship you summoned in scale (which means that even the Aurora is pretty big) and to see the huge rings of the station spinning overhead. It's trippy how vastly huge it is and how connected you feel to it

    Ongoing Discussion HTC Vive Problems

Hey guys, so I've recently gotten my HTC Vive and have everything setup. I'm having issues with Vive not detecting my base stations. Everything is setup to as it should be with Lighthouses mounted for standing room only (since my play area is a hazard lol). One lighthouse (base station) is setup on channel b the other on channel c as they should be. Both lights are green so they are good. The only thing I can think of now is the headset is the culprit. all firmware is up-to-date so I know this isn't the problem. I've restarted my computer and all that and nothing seems to work. if I reboot Ste
  7. With Virtual Reality headsets (Occulus Rift, HTC Vive etc) now on general release is anyone thinking of playing Star Citizen with one? What do you think would be the advantages/disadvantages over a normal monitor?
  8. I got my vive last night, and I'm looking for people to do vive stuff with. Let's meet tonight (7pm CST or 0000 UTC) in TS and talk about our experiences, and cool multiplayer vive games to play. I'll make a temp channel called "Vive Stuff".

Ongoing Discussion StarVR - an alternative money sink

As if some of you were on the fence about the Vive and Octopus Rift, here's StarVR from Starbreeze, a competitor to those others, being supported by Asus. Price? Dunno, don't care, I'm not buying VR. some specs? 210° Field of View Fresnel Lenses Dual 5.5" Quad HD Panels Position tracking

Ongoing Discussion Gloveone - VR peripheral

This subject is something I've been looking at for many years and a friend happened to talk about one she happened to test from RICE university, this is what it has turned into so far and I'm beyond ecstatic to see the final product. People have talked of feeling rain drops on their hands to a butterfly's wings flap. This can only further our VR immersion if not complete the bundle. Gloveone info
  17. Keep in mind I'm looking from my own perspective. But would you get it for the current price 599 US You guys in the US can be happy it's cheaper there (not saying you should be considering it's costs You were better of buying the DK2). Buying one for the Netherlands is like 699 euro that's 764 dollars including tax. But thats not all now they have to ship it to the Netherlands considering the package and how big it is it will cost me at least 100 euro's more, so 110 dollars shipping costs extra. Which would bring me to a grand total of 864 dollars. After this they don't even mention the

  20. This is close to what I've been wanting for years! I don't know if it can even be used in games but it's awesome! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/asdffilms/gest-work-with-your-hands?ref=category
  21. So I was curious about the Oculus rift, and when they are FINALLLLLY going to release a consumer version. I came across MULTIPLE articles citing that it will cost over 350 to purchase the consumer version and everything required for it to run. I also noticed they have these dinky stupid ass earpieces attached to it and are now bundling it with xbox controllers. What the hell happened. I remember when the founder was all about it being affordable and so that everyone could get one. Well guess we can see facebooks influence finally coming to light. How do they go from dev kits that cost 350 to "
  22. Hello Base, We are a San Francisco-based startup developing the world's first virtual reality platform that will allow users to experience space firsthand from any mobile, desktop or virtual reality device. We are currently aiming to send a virtual reality camera to the International Space Station to capture immersive VR video of the Earth from space. Check out our Kickstarter at http://kck.st/1g8txU0 We have started working on a KSP mod (https://youtu.be/DPnVvkPAuYk) to add our real life camera into the game, and would love to do the same with Star Citizen. Any suggestions for finding develop

  24. Good news for SC, Crytek is doing big things in VR. Hands-on: Crytek’s ‘Robinson The Journey’ Prototype is a Visual Feast, Built for Motion Controls By Ben Lang - Jun 17, 2015 With games like Crysis (2007) and Ryse: Son of Rome (2013), Crytek has cultivated a reputation for making beautiful games. The company’s VR team, which just announcedRobinson: The Journey as their first title, is keeping with that tradition in full force. Their prototype of the game, shown at E3 2015, is one of the most expansive and visually impressive VR demos I’ve ever seen. Following the Back to Dinos
  25. I saw this online, and I thought that it just looks amazingly cool... Now imagine if they had an arcade setup for ultra-immersive Star Citizen...
