  1. We are skipping today's TS meeting since it is Memorial Day in the US (and we will meet next on 6/4/18 at 6PM PST).... As many of you know I've lead many Guilds / Tribes / Kinships in other games and really decided to "not to do so" in SC (but still ended up a Unit Leader). Even so - I continually (as many of you know ) theory-craft on how to be more efficient in a game and I wanted to propose a system that would potentially lessen drama for splitting up mission rewards. Below is basically how it works (it is designed to dived up unusual or singular items without creating drama) Let me know what you guys think of this idea below (and we'll discuss it on 6/4/18): Bidding To Divide Awards from Missions Bidding: Team members BID (in UEC) on who wins the Mission Reward either it being a UEC reward or a found or salvage reward (or worked reward like mining spoils). Player Costs add to their respective Bid: Each adds their mission Costs to their bid amount (as a free bonus). Mission Costs could be cost of fuel, cost of NPC contracts, cost to repair ship (repair cost maybe an arbitrary number agreed to by team members at time of bid), etc.... Winning Bidder claims Mission Reward but that winning Bid is divided and distributed among every other player on Team: Each player on the team gets their share of the winning Bid used to win the Mission Reward (equally divided except as follows). Captain or Mission Leader gets 2 shares (to cover greater costs and time invested), and crew members on Multi-crew ships get 1-1/2 shares, and all other team members get one share Each reward a separate Bid: Each element of the Mission Reward is bid on separately. So people bid on UEC reward first .... then bid on other rewards like a salvaged ship.... or bounty.... or mining spoils.... etc.... =================================================== Example Mission In this example lets say their is a mission to go capture a Vanduul Blade (light fighter). In the mission 2 multi-crew ships and a single ship was used and one of the multi-crew ship owner happens to be the individual that started the mission (captain of the mission). Since it is more profitable to be a crew-member than a solo player in their own ship many will opt to be a crew member first (this is to encourage multi-crew game play). Lets say the ship fills its crew positions and other team members bring their own ship. In this example the mission is completed successfully and there ends up being 3 rewards (1st a UEC reward for mission, 2nd The salvaged ship, 3rd the pilot lives unconscious and is now a bounty) = but each reward would be bid on separately. Only UEC reward used in example below but UEC will still be used to bid on the other rewards after the mission UEC reward is finalized. NOTE - the system makes more sense for other items besides the UEC reward (like a salavaged ship) - but the system works for any kind of reward. In the case of a salvaged ship the winner of the ship is essentially paying the bid amount to the other team members since the ship can't be divided up itself. Covering player missions costs is a big part of the system as well... Lets assume there are 5 team members and three ships. The Gladiator pilot is the team leader (the one who spent time and effort gaining the mission for the group). One player on the team offers to be a turret gunner for the Gladiator (since a multi-crew position is more profitable). The 3rd player wants a multi-crew position so he/she bring their Super Hornet and recruits the 4th player as a co-pilot (this makes the Super Hornet a multi-crew ship since both the pilot and co-pilot share the same ship). The 5th player has no multi-crew position available so they elect to bring their Khartu-Al and function primarily as a Scout Bidding: Each player bids on the main UEC reward (other rewards are handled separately). The Mission Reward is 100k UEC and the winning bid is 70k UEC. This means the Winner Collects (probably later) the entire 100k UEC reward but pays 70k UEC to to Pot to be divided among the other team members (the Winner Nets 30k UEC profit) Player Costs add to their respective Bid: The winner happened to be the pilot of the Super Hornet and he didn't actually have 70k UEC to bid but he had more costs which helped him achieve is 70k UEC bid like paying for fuel, paying for repairs on the Super Hornet, etc.... (so in this case the person who got shot up the most used their cost to help them win the mission reward). Winning Bidder claims Mission Reward but that winning Bid is divided and distributed among every other player on Team: The Gladiator Pilot (who started the mission and wasted more time putting it together) gets 2 sharers. The Gladiator Turret Gunner gets 1-1/2 shares (multi-crew position), The Super Hornet Pilot gets no shares (since he won the reward with his bid), The Super Hornet Turret Gunner gets 1-1/2 shares (multi-crew position), and lastly the pilot of the Khartu-Al scout gets 1 share. This means the 70k UEC pot left over from the winning bid is divided among each player on how many share(s) they have. In this example there are 6 shares total and each share is worth 70k UEC divided by 6 = 11.6k UEC per share.... which the Khartu-Al pilot would get that amount while each of the Turret Gunners would get 17.5k UEC and the Gladiator Pilot (or mission captain - but not bid winner) gets 2 shares or 23.3k UEC Each reward a separate Bid: In this example the mission is completed successfully and their end up being 3 rewards (1st a UEC reward for mission, 2nd The salvaged ship, 3rd the pilot lives unconscious and is now a bounty) = but each reward would be bid on separately. Only UEC reward used in example above but UEC will still be used to bid on the other rewards after the mission UEC reward is finalized. +++++++++++ We could also add 1 share as a Unit Tax that can be pooled and used for group costs / investments &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& PLEASE add your comments or other ideas to this thread
  2. Hi guys, First of all I am so glad that I found this place. I was heartbroken to see the official Star Citizen forums go because the new spectrum is such a mess, especially regarding ship discussions. So I am hoping you can help me with my problem. I am planning to get my hands on the Polaris (I already own the Cutlass Blue, Gladiator and CCU from Gladiator to Super Hornet, Reedemer, Reclaimer, Crucible and double Noxes). I am more or less done when it comes to buying new ships because I think I got everything I need except I got one problem. What do you think what ship should I get to be the designated scanning ship in the hangar bay of the Polaris? From what I understand Idris will have great scanners and Polaris will have tough time sneaking up on it unless it uses some sort of scanning ship. I was debating between Herald, Hornet Tracker, 315P, and Terrapin. Each one of them has it's own problems that are bothering me: 1) Herald: I am not sure does Herald even got any advantage over other ships when it comes to scanning? I mean it is supposed to be hacking and info runner ship I am not sure does it have any sort of specialized scanning equipment :S 2) 315P: My buddy owns one so I guess we could use that. What bothers me is how strong are it's scanners compared to other ships? 3) Hornet Tracker: I own a Gladiator and I got a CCU to Super Hornet. I was planning on using it and then just strap on the Tracker gear on top of the Super hornet. I wasn't able to figure out what exactly is the Hornet Trackers role... does it do long range scanning vs other ships and how effective is it at that? I read something about Tracker allowing other ships to achieve faster lock and detect stealthy ship etc. etc. but all I really want is a long range ship scanner 4) Terrapin: From what I read Terrapin is supposed to be the dedicated stealth long range scanner and seems like the best choice but what bothers me is it's price tag... I don't feel like getting rid of my Gladiator (or Super Hornet CCU) to get it. 5) Gladiator: I own it and I heard some speculations that it might receive some modularity. I am not sure are those just rumors but if we could strap on a powerful radar on sensors on it Gladiator would be a bit more versatile. So what do you think? Do you think that getting Tracker gear on the Super Hornet is a viable option to serve as a scout for the Polaris (that would be the cheapest bet for me) or should I look into other scanning ships from the list?
