  1. These people did a blind test to try to find out: Pretty interesting how it turned out.
  2. Hi all, I have a 1080ti and only getting 35-40 FPS (doesn't change whether on I'm low or very high). I know something is veryyyyyyyyyy off. I've done some research and it seems I should be getting 60-100 on high settings. Please help! My specs: i7 8700 32gb Ram 1080 ti 1920x1080p Thanks in advance!
  3. https://www.anandtech.com/show/16057/nvidia-announces-the-geforce-rtx-30-series-ampere-for-gaming-starting-with-rtx-3080-rtx-3090 In the RTX 20 series, the 2080 Ti was way ahead of the rest of the pack, even one step down, the RTX 2080 (Super or not) didn't come close. But in the 30 series, even the RTX 3070 looks like it might have better performance than the 2080 Ti. If true, this will be a revolutionary GPU. I plan to buy at around the same time or maybe slightly before the next Ryzen CPUs come out end of year. I think the best plan will be to order when the Ryzen release date is announced. (On a related note, I definitely think this next release is the moment when AMD unambiguously takes the CPU crown from Intel at the high end, even for gaming.) By later this year all the other manufacturers will have their best offerings in stock at normal prices, so I'll be able to get my usual triple fan version. Not sure yet if I'll get 3070, 3080, or 3090, will try to get best price performance and only go 3090 if its head and shoulders above the 3080 like the 2080 Ti was above the 2080.

Ongoing Discussion Nvidia RTX 2080 8G

I have a setup running a GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 2080 XTREME 8G Graphics Card. Downloaded a fresh install of Star Citizen and jumped into game. On the highest settings the card is reading 100% utilization at all times. Is this normal still? Would have thought it would handle it a little better for the cost.

Their stock slid from $290 to $150 due to those returned gpu PCBs.
  8. Report from the [H] here: https://www.hardocp.com/article/2018/03/08/geforce_partner_program_impacts_consumer_choice Over the years, AMD fanbois have accused me of ignoring Nvidia's supposed anti-competitive practices. The thing is, when I looked into them, they were referencing AMD-slanted web sites with not-even conspiracy-theory rated "evidence". There was no truth to it, they were either citing perfectly legal practices as illegal or citing what is now known as "fake news"... stuff someone made up. This time, Nvidia appears to be pulling an Intel or Microsoft. An actual anti-competitive practice that the courts have proven won't end well (although to be fair, Microsoft and Intel are doing just fine today). I think an up-welling of moral outrage is justified. Its a shame that AMD doesn't have a viable GPU competitor to the GTX 1080, or better yet, its followup due at the end of the year (because that's the likely timeframe of my next upgrade).
  9. Well, 1080 Ti has been released and of course it was a slimmed down Titan XP ... sorry did I say scaled down? I mean it is better than a Titan XP (except for physical numbers 12 GB Vs 11 GB) for gaming at USD $699, knocking the 1080 down 200 dollars to 499. It might be 150?. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-gtx-1080-ti-finally-revealed http://www.pcworld.com/article/3175736/gaming/geforce-gtx-1080-ti-arrives-nvidia-turns-it-up-to-11-with-its-best-ti-card-ever.html http://www.pcgamer.com/nvidias-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-is-finally-here/ Very like the 780 Ti and then Titan, except only 1GB less of ram(but 10% faster) ,less Bus width and ROPs.

Ongoing Discussion GTX 1080 (KFA2/GALAXY) 600 Euro (DE)

Hello, someone was posting in the SC discord (user @𝔹𝟜𝕔𝕜𝔹𝕆𝕟𝕖#8554) and they found a GTX 1080 for 600 euro from the company KFA2 or Galaxy (same brand). I hope this is useful to someone who is looking for a good GTX 1080! EUR to USD = $1.11 per EUR, so you pay ~$660 total, and the US pays ~$650 for a similar model. If this is not the right location for this type of thread, please let me know, and as always have a good one. Viel Glueck, meine Deutschen Freunde. 11. whats your take on the new card coming out gtx 1080 that will be gddr5x while the 1070 will be gddr5 and what will be better the founders edition of other. Will there will be another jump up like the titan.
  12. I decided to go ahead and upgrade to Windows 10 today and for the life of me I am unable to get Nvidia drivers to work. They seem to install just fine, but they don't seem to load. I disabled Windows updates through gpedit and selected the notify option. I cleaned out every bit of nvidia driver files through uninstalling and going into safe mode using guru3D's tool. I am stuck here, I don't get any errors when installing the drivers but no control panel or options, just looks like it stays with the basic Microsoft adapter functions. I do however see this every time I install it in the device manager Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) I did some searches and yielded no results other than what I have already tried. Running an EVGA GTX 780
  13. Hey fellow star citizens , just starting this thread for all of who are interested in how the game plays in 4K . 14. With the fact now nearly everyone buys a new graphics card after one or three years, Who remembers the first or second ever Graphics card? I was 18 when i bought my 1st Card, Orchid Righteous 3D - 3dfx Voodoo 4MB for just £105 GBP, it was only used in 3D games, when in Windows, the 2D card was used. You could hear the mechanical relay click in when you went into a 3D game like, GTA, Carmageddon, or Jedi Knight. Of course come 2000 i was need of a serious Hardware upgrade, i built a new PC (AMD K6-2 450Mhz). I bought my second ever GPU it was the Creative Labs, Nvidia Riva TNT2 Ultra 32Mb for a mere £150 GBP . I can actually remember every GPU purchase for the past 18 years, but hey thats gaming for ya. What was the first video card you ever bought?

  16. I saw this today on my news feed and it made me kind of scratch my head. I don't have a 970, so I haven't been affected by this, but I can see this possibly being a bit of a black eye for Nvidia if the court decides to accept the lawsuit. What do you guys think about this? Valid lawsuit or people trying to make a fast buck? http://www.pcworld.com/article/2887234/nvidia-hit-with-false-advertising-suit-over-gtx-970-performance.html
  17. Did not see this posted on the site, if it has been then please delete this thread. Nice little comparison, Enjoy! http://2p.com/9647554_1/Star-Citizen-GPU-Test-A-GTX750-Could-Give-You-30FPS-At-Max-Setting-1080p-by-Blake-Lau.htm http://gamegpu.ru/mmorpg-/-onlayn-igry/star-citizen-test-gpu.html Star Citizen GPU Test: A GTX750 Could Give You 30FPS At Max Setting, 1080p By Blake Lau on Oct 21, 2014 1681 1 Russian hardware site GameGPU recently tested what kind of GPU you may need to run Star Citizen at max setting at 1080p and above. The sandbox space sim is powered by CryEngine 3 and you need a gaming PC to play the game if you are looking for best experience. GameGPU was using a PC with Intel Core i7 3970X @4.9 ghz CPU, 16GB DDR3 RAM, and 120GB SSD for the test. Res: 1920х1080 Graphics: very high Res: 2560x1600 Graphics: very high Res: 3840х2160 Graphics: very high The hardware requirements aren't scary, and for GPU, a GTX750 could give you an average 30 fps at 1080p. But since the game features space dogfights and planetside FPS experience, some of you may consider 60fps the best experience, and in this case, you will need a GTX 780 (3GB). They also ran a CPU test and got the conclusion that CPU won't affect game performance too much when you have a graphics card like GeForce GTX 780Ti installed in your PC. Please note that the game is still in development and the current build doesn't represent final quality. Via: GameGPU
  18. So im wondering after hearing Chris Roberts speak about the gtx 770 as capable of medium settings im wondering if the gtx 780ti will then be able to run high @60 fps, and now that nvidia basically announced the haswell 900 series can we expect the 970 to do high as well, given that it will be at least 30% better or more then the current 770
  19. Howdy Base! I am trying to get a new computer for Star Citizen (especially since the AC multiplayer s starting), but am interested in advice and feedback! I am currently looking at a DIY kit from NewEgg.com that I think would work well. Any thoughts? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1665069 Also been thinking of buying an Alienware, but not sure if they're worth the money anymore. I do like them, and they've always worked well for me in the past, and I'm more comfortable with a professionally built machine then doing it myself (since I've never done it before), but still not sure they're worth the price for the power I want. I would buy a second RAM stick for the above machine as well as a SSD. I don't think it comes with an operating system so I'll have to spend more for the software I need but that's the easy part. The hard part is the hardware and getting it all to work. If anyone has other ideas on parts I could use or if someone wants to help me build it, I'd be glad for the help. See you in the 'verse!
  20. So... The next generation of Nvidia, and by extension AMD, have been delayed by at least half a year if not until January 2015 because TSMC who manufacture their GPU wafers has had problems with the 20nm manufacture process. What's happened is that Maxwell cards have to be reworked meaning anyone who wanted to wait until the next gen of Nvidia or the next AMD cards came out is going to have to wait even longer. http://www.techspot.com/news/56481-20nm-gpus-unlikely-in-2014-due-to-tsmc-issues.html What do you guys think?
  21. Star Swarm is a real-time demo of Oxide Games’ Nitrous engine, which pits two AI-controlled fleets against each other in a furious space battle. Originally conceived as an internal stress test, Oxide decided to release Star Swarm so that the public can share our vision of what we think the future of gaming can be. The simulation in Star Swarm shows off Nitrous’ ability to have thousands of individual units onscreen at once, each running their own physics, AI, pathfinding, and threat assessments. Note:Star Swarm is not a deterministic simulation -- the AI and everything else is being computed in real time, so you will get slightly different results from multiple executions even on the same hardware. Unfortunately, achieving 100% determinism with the highly threaded nature of the Nitrous engine is an unrealistic goal. http://store.steampowered.com/app/267130/ So, lets start. I believe this will be a useful tool to stress our components and compare our system performance. Star Swarm supports mantle so it would be interesting way to compare AMD's API to Direct X.. I have a mediocre gaming rig that's a couple years old. Intel 2500k @ 4.6 8gb Corsair XMP @ 1600mhz Asus 560ti @ 900mhz Star Swarm settings Scenario: Follow Settings: Extreme Stress Test: Timed Run (6 min) Start D3D Average FPS: 26.99
  22. Ok, so I've been somewhat obsessed with this and have done more research and comparing than any sane person should, so I figured I might as well tell my fellow citizens about my findings! By comparing the different settings on Crysis 3, which uses the same engine, I found that there's about a 40% performance demand between settings, with a larger difference between low and medium. Given that medium settings are supposed to require around a Geforce GTX 770, and that Chris Roberts wants to make Star Citizen very optimized for SLI and Xfire, these system specs SHOULD be valid for when the game comes out. DISCLAIMER: So that I'm not yelled at (as much), I am very well aware that the game is not nearly done, and that not even the developers know what the final requirements will be, so I'm not insisting that these are accurate. Estimates for 1920 x 1080 for at least 30 fps: Low settings: A Radeon HD 6870 or a Geforce GTX 650 Ti Medium settings: A Radeon HD 7970 or a Geforce GTX 680 (which is basically the same thing as a 770) High settings: A Radeon R9 290X or a GTX Titan Now, it's been said that Star Citizen will run on Ultra with the newest card in 1.5 years, so the best we can do now would be an SLI or Xfire solution, such as the following: Ultra settings: A Radeon HD 7990 or a Geforce GTX 690 edit: After seeing the benchmarks, I feel comfortable in saying that an overclocked GTX 780 Ti can also hit ultra. So there you have it. Yes, I am aware that these kind of requirements are silly high, but also keep in mind that there are games already coming out with similar minimum requirements, like X: Rebirth, and Assassin's Creed 4. Naturally, the requirements will be much lower at lower resolutions, and higher at higher resolutions. As for CPU requirements, it's likely that an Intel i5-2500k would be sufficient to play Star Citizen at any setting. Intel hasn't made much more powerful chips since then, and the game will probably run at a similar power level. Besides, if you're getting something as powerful as an R9 290X, you SHOULD have a comparable processor. However, my aging i5 750 is able to handle the hanger module, so who knows? I cannot stress enough that these are just my predictions, but your thoughts are welcome.
