[Theory craft] All commercial ships are designed for piracy.
GRIZZ posted a topic in Ship Discussion
It bugged me how some design choices were made placing cargo strapped to the exterior of ships. Not a lot of sci-fi does this, usually cargo is inside the hull of the ship. Then while reading some threads made on a particular anti-star citizen forum site (because sometimes its educational to see things from the other side) a particular poster made a well thought out post that seems to align with some of the design choices. Here is the entire post, I know its a wall of text but the TLDR at the end summs it up nicely. Have to admit, I like the points he brings up and there is a good possibility that is the direction star citizen is going with all their external cargo. Now, I know its thin, but the thing that pushed me over the edge and made this post was todays RTV. When they opened up questions for the Herald artist, the chat was flooded with questions about why the data storage was on the outside of the ship, exposed. And Disco Lando replied, multiple times, that they are only taking art questions and not game design questions. Thin, I know, but that leads me to believe their there because their meant to be shot off. 3:42 cig_sherman: Once all of Info-Running is implemented, those Datapods would be something you could launch out from a ship. Think along the lines of a dead-drop. So when I commented to this theory on WTF's Twitch chat, Matt Sherman chimed in offering doubts. So what do you think, is it a good way to allow piracy to work in the game without killing the fun for non-pirates?
