Greetings! I bought into Star Citizen back when if first came out, but stopped playing due to lack of content and performance issues. There still seems to be issues in the performance department, unless my system just isn't up to snuff for the game. I turned every setting all the way down, and I still struggle to get smooth gameplay, especially in the settlements. I have the following hardware: 1. CPU: Intel Core i7 9700k (AIO water cooled) 2. Motherboard: Asus Prime Z390-A 3. RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz 4. Graphics: RTX 2060 Super 5. Hard Drive: NVMe Gen 4 x4 6. OS: Windows 11 (all updates installed) Is my system just really out of date already, or is there something else going on here? Do you still need ridiculous hardware just to run the game at low to medium settings?

Hello, i'm new to the game and recently downloaded Star Citizen. This is my first post and hopefully not my last. I'm having a lot of issues with performance, everything should be optimized for this game within my laptop, including CPU usage, graphics are set to "High/Very High" in order to initiate that extra bit of CPU output, in-game overlay is off, graphics card is up-to-date yet the game is extremely choppy and I don't have this issue with other games. I don't know what to do, i've searched everywhere for a solution - youtube, forums, troubleshooting pages. Here are my laptops specs: Asus Rog G513QM - Windows 10 x64 bit Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 SSD: 1TB Ram: 32G

Just downloaded the game and performance is really bad despite having a pretty high end system (RTX 3080, 5600x, 32g of RAM, Samsung 908 EVO M.2). No matter where I am, I can't get above 35 fps and many times see my FPS drop into the teens. Is this a Windows 11 issue. All other games I own run fine and even CPU hogs like Cyberpunk 2077 run well. Afterburner shows that GPU utilization is often at 40% or less. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me what im doing wrong, i have a i7 9700k, 16gb ram and a rtx 2080super and all settings on low the game performance is awful.

I have been wanting to get into this game for a bit now and just downloaded and started trying to. The problem I am having is that the games performance is absolutely atrocious. Totally unplayable... Tons of stuttering and low (like 10 or less) FPS on what I think is at least a decent computer. Even on medium settings... CPU: AMD 9590 AM3+ GPU: EVGA Nvidia 980 Ti Memory: 32GB DDR3 Game Drive: Samsung 860 Evo I mean my setup is a few years old but its not so hopelessly crap that I shouldn't be able to run this, but I totally cant use the game, the performance is totally useless. Is there some common issue with this that I can fix? Even on medium settings it runs only like 10ish FPS or less, and the stuttering for texture loading times makes it unplayable. I keep getting issues with textures not loading and getting see through models, even just walking around the beginner space station. Any help would be appreciated, I really want to start Star Citizen and I don't think my build is that bad, but the games performance is telling me otherwise. Thanks in advance for the help.

I recently purchased a GTX1070ti and then they come out with the RTX2070. Do I feel gipped? price of the RTX2070 compared to the GTX1070ti: lowest seen prices: $550 vs $360 Nope, not at all. Sure, the 2070 has GDDR6 mem over the GDDR5 the 1070ti has, but the hardware points I worry about have negligible differences. Granted, while the RTX does not depend on CUDA cores so much (the nature of Ray Tracing), I'm not one for the new bells and whistles if I do not have a practical need for them. The above link is just one comparison and I just focused on the technical specs and not actual performance. This second link is a start for that. The benchmarks show a 78% increase in multi-rendering over the 1070ti. The RTX2060 may be someone else's entre to the RTX world, but I have avoided the 60-series nvidia cards as consumer level performance GPUs. Nothing surprising in this graphic: I am not authoritative....

AMD has a utility program that will help you do many things with the Ryzen and Threadripper chips - like turn off hyperthreading (the core disable feature) to give you better single core performance. AMD Rysen Master Utility User guide (pdf downloadable)

Hi all, I have only recently purchased the game package and started playing the 3.1 version of the alpha, but the performance has been a huge problem for me. I'll admit my computer isn't exactly top tier, or mid tier even but for some reason I was able to get a steady 20-30 fps or so on any offline/solo game types (I.e the hanger, single-player practice version of the arena commander and the private game mode in star marine) which is completely acceptable for me, but whenever I try to play anything online I either get series stuttering or get a frame rate of less then 1 fps. I tried visiting the crusader station multiple times but the game would either crash or play in a very slow motion in which it took 45 seconds or so to turn my head, plus when I tried quitting the game it would just freeze. I then tried playing star marine online but everytime I walk to turn or shoot the game freezes for 2-5 seconds rendering the whole thing unplayable. Below are my specs GTX 1050 Ti, Intel I7-7700HQ 2.8Ghz, windows 10 x64, 8GB RAM I know it doesn't meet the recommended specs on the star citizen website but since it is very unlikely of me to get an upgrade anytime soon is there any possible way to somehow enhance my performance to a somewhat playable level? Thanks in advance

I came across this SC performance and tweaking guide by YouTuber 'BoredGamer' and the results are astounding. Guide No.1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8K9Xfn6YlQ Guide no 2: https://www.redacted.tv/how-to-set-up-star-citizen-performance-guide/ Previously, my son could only run SC in 1080p at the lowest graphic setting, now he's running it at 1080p with the highest graphic settings and its smoother than before. It took about 40 minutes to complete the process, but the results are clearly worth the effort. If this has been posted before then apologies in advance. Enjoy.

Noticed something interesting in the Hangar. I had it loaded with several different type of ships and when I was wandering around it would stutter at times. I assumed it was just the massive poly count (inherent in these ships) trying to update. BUT, I never saw any stutter or delay in Arena Commander, so I decided to play around with the load out in the Hangar. What I found is if you have any ships in the Hangar that are NOT Flight Ready – you will see the graphics stutter occasionally as you move around. If you only load in the ships that ARE Flight Ready, then you can zip around in the Hangar as much as you want to. Apparently the Flight Ready ships are getting a better optimization pass that the non-flight ready ones lack. (d'uh). On the plus side, any ships that you are capable of using in Arena Commander are still available even if you just have a base Aurora in the Hangar. TL:DR Conclusion: If you are seeing any graphics stutter when walking around in the Hangar, remove any ships that are not Flight Ready. - DRUM out

So I have a bit of an interesting issue. Let me just preface this with a disclaimer: I know that the hangar module is in a pre-alpha stage, which means that I know the performance is sub par and that it is not optimized for any particular card. Ok, now that the disclaimer is out of the way, I'd like to give you guys my system specs just so that you know: i7 3770k @ 4.5 ghz Antec Kuhler 920 CPU cooling Asus Sabertooth z77 2x MSI 7970 3gb/OC @ 1100 Mhz clock/1600 Mhz memory (aftermarket cooling) 2x 128 gb Samsung SSDs in Raid 0 (<<--I run the hangar module on these raided SSDs) 500 gb WD Blue HD Windows 8.1 Pro Catalyst 14.2 drivers (Beta) (I am running eyefinity) Alright, so I've been playing around in the business hangar module with my freelancer and 315p. I use MSI afterburner to monitor my card usage, memory/core clocks, core temp, and VRM temps. What I have noticed is that whatever I do, the hangar module WILL NOT use crossfire and that I'm getting horrible performance (15 to 17 fps MAX) with 2 7970 (AMD's last gen flagship card). My top card is always at full clocks while my second card is always on idle clocks (as though I am NOT in a 3D application). Thus, my first thought is that crossfire is not on. So I checked the Catalyst control center and Xfire is on and then I proceeded to try to force AFR friendly crossfire in the control center. When I booted up Star Citizen, both my cards will boot up to max clock speeds but then my second card will clock back down to idle clocks. Next, I used some of the CryEngine 3 console commands to try to force crossfire on. I used this command: r_MultGPU 1 to set the game to to search for another card to use in crossfire. However, this did not work either! I tried restarting the module as well as making a user.cfg file with that command and neither worked. So I took to the internet to try to find an answer, thinking that other people might have had my problem. Unfortunately, I could not find anyone who had the same problem and on top of that, I found people who were using crossfire in the hangar module when I clearly could not. Here is an example that really angered me because this guy is running his 7970s in crossfire and eyefinity just like me and he is getting significantly better performance than me. JUST to make it clear I disabled my eyefinity while running the hangar module because of performance issues (all the above issues were seen at 1920 x 1080 resolution). Here is the link of the guy who was using crossfire effectively: http://www.tweaktown.com/tweakipedia/28/star-citizen-benchmarked-at-7860x1440-with-radeon-hd-7970s-in-cf/index.html Thus, I am frustrated because that guy ran his 7970 CF at a higher res than me in the deluxe hangar (which i can only assume is more demanding than the business hangar) while I am running at a lower res with the same chip and having issue with fps and I can't even get CF to work. Clearly, this does not seem like simply the module not being optimized. I also know it is not a cooling issue because my main card never peaks over 53 degree celsius in this module and my VRM temps are all below 70 degree celsius while in the module as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of rolling back to 13.12 drivers to see if that would help but I am not sure. Thanks, Hardware-Fiend

Hello, First I wanna say that I know that the Hangar is not optimized and that this will lower the FPS in the game, but anyway I think i'm having other problems. I'm getting between 14-30 FPS (almost unplayable) in the Hangar. I used r_motionblur 0 and r_ssao 0 but it doesn't help. My Rig: i5 - 3570K @3.4 12 Gb ram GTX 560 TI Twin Frozr II - SLI There are any news about this? Because all the other games are running amazing, en CS:GO I have 290 FPS, LoL 150 FPS. I can test more titles, maybe one with CryEngine 3 so it is the same GameEngine. Any Ideas, Suggestions? Thanks in advance. PD: Sry for my crappy English.
