  1. Hey Guys! I, like everyone should, am really excited for Star Citizen. I bought the Aurora MR, and was very excited to start playing. The hanger module worked fine, with minor lag. But my problems really started on Arena Commander. It runs, but the loading screen takes 5 minutes, I have terrible visibility in my cockpit, and I can't stop myself from crashing into asteroids, much less kill someone. I'm pretty sure it is a problem with my GPU (I'm using a laptop hooked up to a monitor BTW.) I'll give you my computer specs so anyone who wants to help me can take a look at them: Model: HP Beats 15z Notebook PC Windows 8.1 64-Bit Processor: AMD A8-5545 APU with Radeon HD Graphics (4 CPUs), 1.7GHz Memory: 16384MB RAM DirectX 11 Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 8510G Thanks in advance. P.S. Please don't say to buy a new Computer, I don't have the money to buy one better than the one I have. I probably will have just enough money for one high-end part. Thanks.

Build help New Build, Input Welcome!

Alright guys, I just had a friend ask me to build his daughter a new pc. She is a computer engineering student and will be doing drafting as well as delving into her creative side. His budget is anywhere from $1000-$1600. I would prefer to stay in the $1200 range but the kicker is she will need a brand new monitor, keyboard & mouse, and windows 7/8. I am beginning my search now for parts but would love to hear input as to how I can stretch the budget for maximum longevity as he wants this computer to last her 4+ years. As I see it now, i'm hoping a 760 would be more than enough as she doesn't really game and the grpahic intensive programs will mainly be drafting. She also likes the color purple so was hoping to trick it out with some purp diodes or fans. I doubt upgrading and/or overclocking will be much of a factor as she seems to be pretty basic with the hardware side. Basically want to build her a great machine that she doesn't have to touch for a long time. I will update this list when I pick parts but having a suggested motherboard to start would definitely help.

Build help Possible Upgrade In Order

I believe it is time for me to either build a new PC or buy one outright. I'm thinking about upgrading possibly in the next 3 months or would it be better to wait? I want to be able to run Planetside and FPS perfectly though, so I want to have a highly capable rig by then. If those who know more about hardware know of some new hardware coming out before the new modules then I'll wait, otherwise what are some suggestions for a PC that is highly capable of running SC? Can I do this with a $1,000 budget? I want to make sure it'll run the PU fine which is hard to tell from now, so maybe tuff it out til the middle of next year? I guess I am just looking for a best suggested path for new hardware. Thanks!

Build help Wanna liquid cool that GPU?

Arctic Cooling has the product for us. I current use an Accellero Extreme III for my GTX760 and it runs nice and cool. This, however, if I find the space, will go on my next card Accelero Hybrid II

Build help Which case is the right one?

Hey guys, I finally saved up enough to be able to build my dream pc. However due to the fact that I am a big noob when it comes to PC building, I wanted to get some help from you guys Let me tell you straight away that this spec will be ridiculous but I want something special that will last long enough to play SC on high even in the future. My dream PC: PC Case: http://www.mwave.com.au/product/thermaltake-core-v71-full-tower-chassis-ab53903 http://www.mwave.com.au/product/thermaltake-level-10-gt-snow-white-edition-full-tower-case-aa12459 http://www.mwave.com.au/product/cm-storm-stryker-fulltower-case-with-side-window-white-aa12598 CPU Processor: Intel Core i7 5930K Haswell-E 6-Core LGA 2011-3 3.5 GHz CPU Processor Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Hero Intel Z97 LGA 1150 ATX Motherboard Memory: 2x G.SKILL RipjawsX 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 1600MHz Desktop Memory F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL Hard Drive: Seagate ST2000DM001 2TB Barracuda Desktop HDD 3.5" 7200RPM SATA3 Hard Drive Power Supply: Enermax Platimax EPM1500 1500W 80 Plus Platinum Power Supply Video Cards: 2x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 4GB Gaming Video Card Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional 64 bit CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H110 280mm Liquid CPU Cooler Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster Z Sound Card Misc: NZXT Sentry LXE External LCD Touch Fan Controller My questions about the build are: 1. How much better would an 8-core processor be compared to a 6-core one? 2. I saw that the liquid cooler is 280mm, and from my reading only one of my three desired cases (first one) is able to support it, is that correct? 3. are 2x gtx980 gaming 4g better than the radeon 295x2? or overall what is the best graphic card as of right now? 4. should I add any more fans? If so, how many and what size? 5. Is the 1500W enough power for the whole system? 6. Any advice on the hard drive? I don't know what is the best here. 7. Is a wireless card needed at all? 8. Anything I should consider before ordering it which caught your attention? Thanks for taking your time and answering my questions, I really appreciate it!

Build help Bass Shaker Tactile Transducer

Hello. I was looking at these bass shaker tactile transducer over the internet to induce a better feeling when I`m flying and shooting but I don`t know how to use them. I found Clark Synthesis TST239 and AuraSound AST-2B-4 Pro bass shakers in Amazon. At home I have a Logitech Z906 5.1 system. From what I understand I have to buy an amplifier to power the bass shaker, but after how do I connect the shaker to my sound system? At first I was looking at ButtKicker Gamer 2 and ButtKicker Speaker Level Interface Adapter with easy connection to bare wire speaker outputs. I think that with that adapter I could connect the ButtKicker directly to my speaker but the shaker is out of stock everywere.
  7. Hey folks. I could use a little help picking a good 2-in-1 ultrabook/tablet for my wife and brother in law. My wife's old laptop is really old and needs to be replaced. My brother-in-law helped me tremendously when I was building my house. Pretty much took a week off work to help me put down the hardwood floors. I want to thank him with a much needed replacement for his home PC. So anyway, it's been a while since I've shopped for a computer. I see Intel Atom and Intel Haswell and really don't know what that means anymore. In short I'm looking for a Windows 8.1 PC where the keyboard is either removable or flips around like the Dell XPS12. Beyond that I want it to be fast, but neither my wife nor B-I-L need a screaming-fast machine. Internet, email, Word, Excel. That's it. Maybe the kids will play some simple games. No Star Citizen So if you guys have any recommendations I would really appreciate it. Some of the ones I was looking at: http://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_Transformer_Book_T300LA/ http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-12-9q33/pd?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn I don't like the Lenovo Yoga series because when you flip the screen over, the keyboard is exposed...as opposed to the Dell setup which is nice. Lastly, my budget is ~$1500 max per device but I think I could do much better since these don't have to be state of the art. Thanks!!! Pete
  8. First time buying a PC separately through this website here's my configuration: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/kxV6NG Do i need anything else other than the above hardware? Stuff like cables or thermal paste? Thanks!
  9. I will ask you again, because I got an awesome build for my own PC last time the forums helped me out. This time I'm on a lowered budget of $1050 for my brother. Do you guys know what parts I should get to get max out of this budget? Thanks in advance!
  10. Heyguys, not to clued up on ovrerclocking, but please refer to below image, it shows 4515mhz max on all 8 cores, does this mean my cpu is overclocked to 4.5ghz? I havent changed any settings and havent over clocked. I did notice my baseclock is 215.0 mhzninstead of the stock 200.0 Thanks.
  11. okay, so i got the Sapphire r9 270x vapor x for a bargain on special, had to buy it, special was on till stock lasts so what the hell. bought it. my in tensions were that i would buy everything at once, but because of the special got my graphics card 3weeks before i buy the rest of the computer ( specs below of what i will be getting end of the month) FX 8350 MSI 990FX GD 80 8GB DDR3 1600 VENGEANCE PERFORMANCE RAM SAPPHIRE R9 270X VAPOR X ANTEC 650WATT TRUE POWER NZXT CRAFTED SERIES TEMPEST 410 ELITE BLACK MID CASE --------------------------- So i remove my GTS 450 Clyclone, throw on the 270x and hope for the best. My current specs are AMD ATHLON DUAL CORE 5600+ 2.6GHZ FOXCONN ALBATRON 8X PCI EXPRESS (CRAP MOBO I BOUGHT WHEN I HAD NO CASH WHEN OLD MOBO PACKED UP) 600 WATT POWER SUPPLY (SOME CHEAPY DONT EVEN KNOW THE BRAND) NOW THE R9 270X 4GB DDR2 800 RAM ------------------------------- So with these components, really bottlenecking my gfx card. i didnt expect a big FPS increase in SC, but boy was i surprised. With the 450gts cyclone overclocked, i was getting 4fps low 11fps average and 14 highest FPS in the hangar (with budget hangar and 2 300i) on low 1920 1080 res, with r_motionblur 0 and r_vysnc 0. With just adding the r9 270x im getting 26 fps low 39 average 53 highest on very high 1920 1080 res with r_motionblur 0 and r_vysnc 0. still have to test the AC with this card, i will do free flight now on the first map and then free flight on broken moon then i will try swarm next. I just find that this is interesting with such low end components very out dated and obsolete very little ram on a dual core, im getting amazing playable fps in the hangar. lets hold thumbs for the AC missions. "to add" Dying Star i am getting about 15FPS lowest 22 being average and highest 32 (this all depends on where the front part of my ship is facing, the less rocks i look at the more frames obviously) I will check Broken moon a little later and keep you all up to date.

Build help Computer for Logic Pro X

It's time for me to change music software and I need some help selecting a computer to use this software on. I don't give a crap what computer it is, all I care about is the Price vs Performance here and do note, I will not be playing on this computer. https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/logic-pro-x/id634148309?mt=12 https://www.apple.com/uk/logic-pro/specs/ Anyone with any input on this that could help me?
  13. So I was thinking of just upgrading my graphix card and ram....but then I ran into some issues. Apparently my Intel DP55WG (http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/motherboards/desktop-motherboards/desktop-board-dp55wg.html) only has pci express 2.0. I am not one to care about getting the most GRAWPHECKS out of a game, so I was wondering, do I reallllly need to upgrade my motherboard to use one of the new 760/780 cards? As well....can I continue to use my old i7 860 @2.8ghz? Its an LGA 1156 socket. Currently running that, 6gb of ram and an old 560 ti on AC. I do not use video editors or photoshop or the like, so 8gb of ram would be fine for me. Could someone possibly look at http://www.tigerdirect.ca/ and put together a computer that fits inside a 1,000 dollar budget? I already have a computer case, a ton of fans, a 240gb ssd and terabyte HDD, opperating system, and optical drive. Dont worry about shipping as I can go to their warehouse. I'm basically looking for a mother board, cpu, ram and video card.

    Build help Computer build question.

So I'm wondering if this is looking good: 250 GB SSD (Samsung, Sony ect) ~$160 Intel i5-4670k LGA 1150 socket ~$250 GTX 770 2GB (EVGA, Gigbyte, MSI, Asus) ~$400 16 GB 1600Mhz (minimum clock speed) RAM ~$180 Z87 motherboard socket 1150 (MSI, Asus, Gigabyte) ~$160 I have a budget of 1200 dollars, so I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions? Has anyone had good dealings with PNY graphic cards? And is there a cheaper alternative to the 770 that doesn't sacrifice to much.
  15. first time i tried the hangar module today and windows ask me to change colour scheme to basic, when i launch the hangar module to me it feels playable but has occasional laggy movement especially when changing directions, im not sure if its due to pre alpha or ealry stage of the game or its my build that cannot compensate which if its the latter i think i will struggle to to play decently, anyways here is my pc build: OS: windows 7 ultimate 64-bit processor: intel® core i5 CPU 760@2.80GHz (4CPUs), ~2.8GHz memory: 4096mb RAM directX version: 11 Nvidia geforce GTX460 approx total memory 2768MB Current display mode: 1920x1080 (32bit) (60Hz) my pc knowledge i would describe it as basic to intermediate so please be patient if i did not provide all the details needed. i would be happy if my current set-up would suffice until the full game comes out as i know pc hardware and software gets upgrade so often in space of a year then maybe i can build a good one for the full game. out of topic still cant decide whether to invest now on a good hota or again same reason to hold out until full game launch and maybe a controller SC specific comes out. thanks in advance for all the suggestions and answers. l2ye
