Hello and welcome to the Imperium Newsletter for Aug. We’ve seen an increase in Imperium's ranks yet again with a few promotions while StarCitizen had the Siege of Orison event for the first half of Aug and has been working on the newest patch which should be close! Recently, the leaderboards for Arena Commander and Star Marine have started to come back online. We would like to remind everyone that the members that attain a high ranking in the leaderboards will be rewarded with ribbons which will be displayed on their portal profiles. Please read through this forum post to see what the requirements are to earn these accolades. Here is a link to the Leaderboards.
@Shane is currently hosting an Emoji competition on discord and can be found in the #emoji-competition channel. This is a way to get more emotes the community likes added to our discord. Simply submit a emote in the channel and leave a vote for it, and any others you like by leaving an up arrow or some sort of reaction on the image. The top 5 will be added to the discord!

Welcome to the Imperium Newsletter for June!

Let's start off with some updates to our Discord. We have added a new bot that handles temporary voice channels. To use this bot, simply find the “Other Voice” section in Discord, then join the “Create Voice Channel” and a new voice channel will be created for you!
Second, Discord has added a new feature, Text chats in every voice channel. To find this, hover over the voice channel you would like to type in, you will see a chat bubble appear to the right of the name, click on it and you will see the text chat. Please get used to this feature as we have removed our Voice-text channel.
Another topic related to Discord is, start thinking of some emotes you would like added to the server! We’re getting around to some Discord updates and one will be getting suggestions from you the community on Emotes you would like to see! We will create a way to track the nominations so hold onto them for now but look for it in the near future!
We’ve had a great turn out for our events this month. They’ve been great fun and we appreciate all that create, help and attend. If you would like to create, host or help an event, please contact @REIGN-11-87 or @GRIZZ our event coordinators and they will help you!

We are happy to announce that we are now accepting members of the Starcitizenbase community forum as affiliate members. For a long time we have required anyone joining Imperium to set us to their primary org and enforced this rule to the best of our ability. Now that is changing.
 
In order to be considered a full Imperium member you are required to set Imperium as your main org on RSI. 
 
Anyone that has Imperium as an affiliate will be considered a SCB Affiliate and not a full member of Imperium as the Affiliate name suggests.
 
This decision has been discussed and thought out over a long period, we feel this change will help in the long term by allowing us to retain more people interested in Imperium while still having our Core Imperium members.
 
That said, how does one become an SCB Affiliate?
 
The process is similar in joining to becoming a Full Imperium member.
Step 1: own a https://forums.starcitizenbase.com/ account.
Step 2: Apply to Imperium on RSI and include your scb account and specify Imperium member or SCB Affiliate.

You may switch from an Imperium member to an SCB affiliate and visa versa if certain criteria are meet such as appropriate RSI Main org status on your account. To do this simply get in contact with an member of HR.
Once done, we will process you into the Org and that's it! We welcome you to join us on our discord to socialize and participate in our weekly star citizen events.
 
If any new SCB Affiliate is seen attempting to represent Imperium in a bad manner please contact a member of Imperium HR as all SCB Affiliates will still be required to follow a small set of rules.

I'm seeing A LOT of videos and posts from/about ED players flocking to SC due to the awful state of Odyssey. I'm really enjoying watching new player's journey in the verse.
 
I'm just curious, How do you feel about this? Has SC seen an adoption rate like this before? What do you think CIG will do with this increase of players and PR? Do you think this is overall positive or worry about it being negative due to the state of the game currently. Do you worry about the lack of "competition" regarding space sims?

Simply hope those new players will not burn themselves by grinding too much this alpha (they never experienced the database reset, loss of Levsky ...)

That's true but why didn't CIG just lead with that? Advertise it as a Medium Fighter and then show some art of it getting launched out of a Polaris?
Instead they are now trying to pull the same stunt as they did with the Hurricane concept sale where they were pretending it was a Heavy Fighter during the sale but once ingame it's just a Medium Fighter with small components.
In addition to that they charged the same amount of cash for the Scorpius ($220) as they did with the Ares Starfighter; an actual Heavy Fighter with a full set of Medium components.
I still remember that talk with Ben Lesnick explaining how ship pricing was based on several factors including the value of components. I don't see that at all here so I must assume that they either stopped doing that or it was all just a BS excuse to being with.
So yeah, in my opinion CIG should have just advertised it as a Medium Fighter from the start and explain that it was RSI's modern take on the Hurricane design or somesuch. I mean, that it now fits in the Polaris is nice; but it was just a lucky coincidence due to CIG standardizing the ship hangars which allowed the ship to fit those metrics.
I really was looking forward to seeing an actual Heavy Fighter from RSI that would be in-line with the Aegis Vanguard series, Crusader Ares Starfighters, and Anvil F8 Lighting. Instead we just got another Medium Fighter with a Light fuselage being sold as a 'Heavy Fighter' just so they can put a higher pricetag on. I find that misleading practice rather dishonest and deceptive. 😒

RSI Scorpius looks cool, but it's definitely not a Heavy Fighter. To me it's effectively just an RSI version of the Hurricane (Medium Fighter).
Personally if CIG really wanted it to be a Heavy Fighter to compete against actual Heavy Fighters like the Vanguard series and Ares Starfighter I think you should swap those Small components out for Medium sized components.
With just Small components it's just an overpriced Medium Fighter in my opinion. So yeah, I'd definitely suggest CIG take another look at it while it's moving through production and swap those Small components out for Medium sized ones. Don't let it fall into the same trap as the Hurricane where two people would be better off just each flying a Sabre and be way more effective.
Heavy Fighters should be distinct in that compared to Light and Medium Fighters they move on to use Medium components while the Light and Medium Fighters use Small components.
At the moment the RSI Scorpius has basically the same components and firepower as the Hurricane Medium Fighter so CIG can call it Heavy all they want but it won't make it so. With only Small components and the same firepower as a Hurricane it will just be another Medium Fighter.
That's a real shame too as I was really hoping to see a true Heavy Fighter that could compete against other Heavy Fighters like the Vanguard series and upcoming Ares Starfighter. This RSI Scorpius is just another Hurricane but worse due to the guns sitting out on those easy to shoot off wings while the turret has worse FoV due to those wings being in the way. All in all the RSI Scorpius is just a worse Hurricane at a higher pricetag atm in my opinion. Very disappointing. 😕
Now I did get a cheap $5 Corsair-to-Scorpius CCU for some leftover store credit just in case CIG gets the memo but I'm not holding my breath. Now maybe CIG will allow the Scorpius to fit inside the Polaris Hangar but I doubt it. Still, I guess $5 just in case isn't too bad for me so I can just wait and see if CIG gets the memo or not. Otherwise I'll just melt the CCU and keep on using my Vanguard and Ares Inferno.

Another option that CIG has currently made available is that referral Drake Dragonfly that you can get for free if a new account uses your referral code.
Ofcourse you could also make a second account with your own referral code, buy something worth $40 (like that $40,50 Aurora package), gift the package to your main account after 30 days and melt it for Store Credit.

Look at the teaser at 16:30 in this video... I think we will see a Vanduul invasion into the Stanton system.   Ben Lesnick always talked about operation Iron Hay Bale as a counter to the players desire to create Operation Pitchfork and invade Vanduul space during beta.   I always knew that it wouldn't happen and that CIG wouldn't be ready for that... And instead would create an event like this just so we could have fun with a massive Battle of some kind without having to worry about the real cost of replacing ships...  During alpha..
... So what do you think?... Do you think I am right or is this something else?
