About Me

I'm a 36 year old man that like the most of us older gamers, has the wife, mortgage, family dog, child, and bills galore.

Games-wise, I do like a good in depth RPG, but I prefer them to be along the lines of Skyrim, Morrowind etc as opposed to a 3rd person over the top grindfest that most RPG's seem to be these days. Space game-wise, I played an awful lot of Freelancer back in the days of old, mainly single player as I didn't have broadband at the time. I'm praying Star Citizen can deliver some of that old magic back into space sim gaming that Freelancer did.

I've also spent FAR too much time with the Operation Flashpoint (original, not the Codemasters rubbish) and Arma series.

But you don't want to read about that, so let's move onto more interesting things.

I spent 5 years as a soldier in the British Army (1997-2002) as a surface to air missile operator, deploying and operating both the Shorts Starburst (Javelin S15) and Shorts Starstreak (High Velocity Missile, H.V.M.). During this time my parent unit was 21 Battery, 47 Regiment Royal Artillery. I also had two foreign army exchanges during my service and worked with the "Galicia" VII (BRILAT) Spanish artillery headquarters in Pontevedra, Spain. I also spent time with the 54 eme Artillery regiment in Hyeres, southern France. I also spent 9 months in Canada at the Army's expense and served in Northern Ireland during the troubles there. Although I had only 5 years as a regular soldier, I wouldn't swap it for the world, I had a brilliant time.

Whilst serving in Northern Ireland, I'm second from left;

Nowadays my life is a bit more sedate. I now still work for the British Army but in a non-deployable armed guarding role. If you ever pass a military establishment and see the guy armed on the gate there, well that's what I do. It's not as exciting as it looks! It's tedious, but I get to go home and see the wife and child every day. :)

My main hobbies in life are snowboarding, which has taken me to many places such as Austria, France, Italy, Andorra, and Bulgaria.

Pic of me, the pic may look "staged", but I crashed and burned just after it was taken!;

And the second main hobby that I have is target shooting. I've been shooting since I was 14 so it's in the blood. I have a few bits and bobs that I use. I only target shoot, as although I understand why some people hunt (legal cull or meat for the table), I don't like killing things for the sake of it. It goes against my personal principles.

My firearms, you will have to excuse the length of the barrels on the pistols, unfortunately a 12" barrel is a legal requirement for a handgun in the U.K.

Thanks for reading, if you actually managed to make it to the end here without falling asleep, then I congratulate you!

See you in the void........... :)
