There is only one thing that could possibly put the Hornet on the same level as the Constellation in my opinion; the cost / effectiveness ratio of the two ships. I haven't double checked in a while, but I'm pretty sure you can get two hornets for close to the same price as one constellation. You can't pilot both of the hornets at the same time obviously, so this will most likely come down to exactly how good the AI crew you'll have in the Constellation is going to be. Let's face it, which one of your friends would rather be sitting inside your ship instead of flying their own. In every other area, though, I think the constellation is a clear winner. Everyone before me have put up solid arguments about the 20 upgrade slots, storage, sheer number of hardpoints, and everything else. All in all, this is probably the most utilitarian ship you can get so far. If you're not sure what you want to do when you play the game sort of like me (although I know I'll definitely want to do some exploration), and you have the cash for it, it's really hard to go wrong with this ship. if you decide you want something different as the initial launch of the game draws near, you'll probably have the credit to be able to switch out also.
