Updates to Crytek's lawsuit vs CIG

moderate swing voter actually. i find devoted party affiliation to be like brand loyalty, a silly concept that leaves you wearing nikes to a board meeting. unacceptable, and that is coming from a man who doesn't wear pants during skype meetings. let's not turn this to politics though. i know i kindda went there a bit in effort for a joke, but let's keep it there.

Updates to Crytek's lawsuit vs CIG

what can i say about this lawsuit from crytek that has been said about the war with iraq ? crytek made claims, went all in with no proof, took casualties, and now doesn't have a exit strategy so it is having trouble pulling out.

    that is so very accurate.

Updates to Crytek's lawsuit vs CIG

if someone told me back in the 90's that derek smart would still be around doing games, i would have laughed at them to their face. as far as the game engine goes, they should have known full well that the scope and feature creep of rsi was well outside the ability of their engine, and had they seriously wanted to keep the game on that platform, they would have been leasing out their people to assist cig in evolving it . since they didn't, not really, there came the time when the writing was on the wall. crytek shot themselves in the foot and pinned the shooter on cig. like a bunch of idiots. they had a golden goose for advertisement, and they starved the goose. had i known someone was trying to make next level stuff with my product, and they were struggling, i would have had dumped resources into it. sure, it would cost some of my profits, but if i can use the new modified code, and pin all the cost to advertisement, i could get by, maybe even turn a buck with a better platform that before. the lawsuit thing ? i am no lawyer. can't say how that stuff works, but it is going to make crytek look pretty stupid if they lose in the courts.

    Dune 2019 (movie)

it doesn't matter if it is a good idea to do it again or not. i am always going to say " yes please" when it comes to dune.
  6. i'm good with this. it's a very minor stockholder share, and with it the help to market the game better. to see world of warcraft numbers has been tried since world of warcraft's peak. none has succeeded. so many games have called themselves the wow killer, only to fail due to bad launches, poor end game content, lack of marketing, poor roll out strategies and more. of course, nothing will kill wow but time, but with playable since alpha, there is a chance to have a seamless rollout. stress testing and debugging will be fully explored in beta, so the chances of those server disconnects on opening day won't be an issue, thus not leaving that buggy game bad taste in new players mouths. the addition to the marketing should only help the numbers, but to the extent of wow, that is uncertain. it's a lofty goal to be sure, but as far as all the games that are out there, i have never seen two million accounts in alpha stage. that is insane. it is out of my frame of reference to predict the numbers one year in

Will Star Citizen Launch This Year?

if chris wants to hit a special splash, he could always release the game about the time of a star wars movie release. it would make sense to take advantage of strong ticket sales that are putting peoples mind into space themed plots. a good strong t.v. ad push during the same time that star wars is pumping out it's trailers would be a recipe for success .

Will Star Citizen Launch This Year?

i agree, at best i imagine to see a few missions deep of sq42. as far as what it would take to get it to release in full this year ? there is nothing anyone could do. games take time, no matter the budget or amount of people. the more complex, the more money and people required. i guess the only way to see sc released this year, would be chris releasing an unfinished star citizen 3000 cruiser game.

  18. they talking about getting a ship as the " white gear" i totally agree. thankfully disco used the example of racing cars. indeed, those who talk about car racing never talk stock figures. anyone who would compare stock for stock are laughed at. usually cars are stripped, engine swapped, ignition systems upgraded. i fully expect to gut the hell out of every ship i own, to tweak. all i see out of a ship at this point, is potential, and ship role. what the stats are going to end up, will not be what the stock is given. stock for stock, my car i run should never dream to walk with the big boys, yet after upgrading it can. engine swaps, turbo upgrades, gearing, tuning... it's what makes people shocked when i say it's a 4 banger.

  21. in a peaceful visit (and i hope so) if they are at, or below our level of knowledge, it's almost a certainty we will become hostile. our history is stupid full of examples. if above us a bit, i see us trying to own thier technology, then advancing to the point of progressing to quickly for a civilization. that could be rather harmful. even now, we have people in first world countries who can't use a computer. what happens if we ramp up the development by a multiplier? if they are wayyy ahead of us, then i see cults popping up that see them as gods. whole religions who see them for something they are not, and the counter groups who see them as covert hostiles. terrorism everywhere. plenty of past examples there too from tribes in the pacific who were exposed to military refueling during ww2.

    Update on ships in development

i havnt seen anything like that. maybe i missed it. was this in a video, or a thread that you refer to.

    Update on ships in development

there really isn't a ship that can carry the thing. might just spawn at a mining station, with only limited thrusters to get from rock to rock.... not much is known about this giant metal nope ball.
  24. when i think of being visited by alien beings, i think it can really only go two ways. of course, showing up here alone means they are thousands of years ahead of us, if not a million or so. if conflict happens, it's a godzilla verse bambi fight, and bambi is walking with a limp. with the enormous distances and it takes to travel somewhere, no race will commit to that unless they need something we got. any sort of cummunication can be done through quantum computing, so there just isnt a need for going somewhere physically. if they drove all the way here, spending a efff ton of resources to do it.... it's to take something we got. of course, it isn't water, or minerals. that's everywhere. oxygen, and all the elements are plentiful.... so they would be here to take us. everything we know thus far about space, the only rare thing we know is life. there isn't anything more rare in the universe we know of, that life that can make compter. now you can slave into whatever idea you want, but i doubt it's for some sort of kinky alien porn, but rather for extinction. rare do scientist talk about religion outside earth. a extremely territorial type 2 civilization, that is ascending to type three, might have the religious belief that they are the sole inheritors of this galaxy. any other life, could be seen as herasy, and must be exterminated. on the flip side to the visitation deal, and the second way things would go down if an alien civilization dropped down is by wormhole. if instead of traveling at some fraction of the speed of light, they instead show up by folding/manipulating space time, then our chances of survival improve. if instead of having to drive a few hundred or thousand years, instead showing up after a few minutes... things get reasonable. physical visitation is a whatever. might just stop by to gawk at how incredibly stupid we are. the point is, the less they need to invest in getting here, the lower the odds that they are here to efff us up. when spain or columbus took the trip to the new world, it wasn't about finding new friends. it wasn't a couple dudes sitting at a table piss drunk when one of em had the idea to sail some ungodly hard route. when briton decided to get a piece of the new world, or the french ( yea, i didn't forget about you) they didn't show up for the giggles. it was hard, and the trip was very long. it took a nation to fund explorers of the days of the sail. nations spent tons of money to sponsor these groups, and they expected a return. that return was not soil samples, or to see a group of half naked dudes dancing around a fire while wearing feathers. they wanted treasures. they wanted gold, and ...well, technically columbus was supposed to find another trade route to india...i digress. if an alien culture were to spend so much time and resources to get here, it is only logical from our frame of refrence to assume they are not here to take selfies and leave. their world is waiting on some sort of pay out for that effort. however getting here with minimal effort, would lower the expectations of what they would want for a return value. thus, selfies. possibly justin beiber. really hoping they want justin beiber. but then again all this is just musings in my head, and i don't have one of those cool little papers on my wall like neil tyson has.
