  1. Thanks for the offers..if poss just keep hold for me until I get some spare funds if you can..probably in the next few weeks. If you can't wait then no worries. Again massive thanks.
  2. You tried flying a flight sim with mouse and keyboard? The only game that worked with that set up was Freelancer as it was designed with that in mind...however if this game is going to be abit more hardcore than Freelancer was I imagine a joystick with throttle and rudder (for certain thruster maybe) will be a must. Otherwise you could be fighting someone using a stick and your on keyboard and find your getting owned all the time.
  3. Unfortunately when the money was due I was skint so had to pull out...single dad and disabled means money can be tight.
  4. Joystick with throttle and rudder control all the way. I know pads have been around for the PC for years now but I always think of them as a console controller..and this is a PC game. Also I imagine a decent joystick will give you alot more control than a pad, just like mouse and keyboard for an FPS is far superior than a game pad.
  5. Quick question if I buy a package now does it mean after 6 months (If I get a package with 6 month insurance) if my ship is blown up I loose it if my insurance has run out? This alone is really putting meoff form backing the game. Realyl don't like the idea of paying out more for say the Origin only to know it can be taken off me at a later date. I mena if you loose it an dhav eno money that means you can't play anymore without having to pay out again. Or am I wrong and the ship you get with your package you have for life? Thanks
  6. OK I know we have SC and Elite all ready in the making but hey the more the merrier..and RS is taking a different path I feel going for more the flight sim crowd aswell. Take a look at the three start up procedure videos. Come on and lets back it..$20 will get the game and it will be a terrible shame if it doesn't reach the target. Only down to timing I feel would be the reason it doesn't as SC and Elite took all the worlds money:) But hey dig deep and back this as it look like it could be really soecial. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1298800608/rogue-system
  7. It seems as if your talking like this was going to play like Eve. Apparently it isn't going to be anything like EVE neither the scale nor the gameplay. I suggest people wait for abit to see how the online mulitplayer aspect pans out. It might not be possible to have massive guilds and huge fleets. I think it's going to be a fair bit different to how many of the MMO crowd think it's going to be. As already mentioned it isn't classed as an MMO. It will have some MMO aspects but still not a fully fledged MMO but some kind of hybrid multiplayer game from what i can work out, a mix of WC and FreelancerPrivateer. You also got to think of the graphic fidility going on here as well as the physics and sim like qualities this alone means it's very unlikely there will be huge fights going on..latencylag would cripple the game.
  8. The stretch goals are very odd compared to your typical stretch goal om a KS project. Still I hope he hits 5 mill...
  9. Obsidian reached just under four..so if SC can reach 3 million it's done very well indeed. I do hope it reaches five million the golden figure..but I just can't see it at all..unless I win the euro lottery this friday..If I do I'd fund 5 mill.
  10. THE FAQ eased my worries a touch. Still not enough for me to pledge. I want more info on exactly what I'm getting. Or I will wait until release. I mean he will want to carry on selling it after the crowdfunding. If everyone everywhere who will ever buy it buy it during the crowdfunding then there will be little profit for the Investors. So I'm waiting. No doubt at some point I will buy it, whether during the crowdfunding period or later after it's been released.
  11. Odd..you all really are forgiving and must want this game. Obsidian will be lucky to hit or expecting to hit 3.5million..and you think a space sim will hit 5 mill...? It's very doubtful that people into flight sims wouldn't have heard about it by now and it's now also unlikely people who like them but not fanatic will pledge with those sorts of stretch goals..5 mill before a persistent world and proper SP game..or you get a cut back game and what an alpha private server only game... The SP game is going to be like World of Tanks with narrative apparently. Oh and the persistent world thing is nothing as big as EVE, See the interview at Rock Paper Shotgun. The thing is with investors say they did get in 4 million..whose left to buy it to bring in a profit for the investor..then again maybe it will be through DLC and expansions..so i answered my own question. Finally I really really want this to succeed..I just feel people need to be abit more realistic at the moment.
  12. Still a big risk. Some people are putting in big money with no guarantee of a fully working game at the end of it just an Alpha. I'm sure many people are holding of pledging and this wont help. This news if it's right and your not getting the full game until 5 million is reached is massive. Not sure many who have bid realised this from the start. Also between 2 and 4 million..thats a big difference for an investor to put forward..so really they need 3 million..or 2million or 4 million...what is it before the investor parts with their cash. Also unless contracts are signed there are no guarantees an investor will actually invest in the end anyway. I've stayed away from KS that say they need an investor to come in aswell before the game gets madecompleted..it's just to flaky for me. Finally if you have an investor lined up once you hit a set amount to complete the funding why have it then put up as stretch goals? You just say we need 2 million or whatever then an investor comes in with the rest and you all get the game and full SP game..not say we need to crowd fund 5 million before you get the game..surely that 5 million is in the bank through investors once they hit a magic figure..all seems abit odd. As we all know 5 million from crowdfunding only is just not going to happen. Anyway taking $800,000 of peoples money only to announce they don't get the full game unless they now hit 5 million doesn't seem right ot me..if thats the case.
  13. Make sense of them if you can..5 million before we get a full rich SP game..5 million before you can play the proper game online and not just an alpha..that bit makes no sense, why have that as a stretch goal in the first place? Again the info released is odd and confusing.. http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/star-citizen/ Chris really needs to explain things alot better and in more detial..those stretch goals esp the 5 million being the only one that mentions the full game being released is weird. I had a feeling no way could they make an SP game and a MMO for 2 million. This adds to my initial thoughts.
  14. I like the sound of a private small server than the main one to be honest... I wonder if you can set one up just for yourself and it has an AI or not, sort of a sandbox sp game then I suppose. Also yes the private server is excellent for modders, expect a Star wars and BSG and even Star Trek mods at some point. Just like Freelancer has the recent Star wars mod.
  15. People need to look at other big hitting Kickstarters and then get a realistic view of what can be achieved. A superb crowd funded achievement is between 2 mill and 3 mill, thats for games that are for more popular and a lot less niche like RPG's. Even Obsedian is probably going to hit 3.5 million. If they achieve that with their name then Chris will be very fortunate to hit say 2.5mill. I'm actually impressed with how much he has made already. Plus at the moment there are just to many unknown variables. System specs gcould be well out of peoples reach so you lose alot of people there, single player game info is poor. Going the way of mainly MMO I feel was a mistake. They'd have pulled in alot more money going for a sandbox single player game as everyone would buy into that. MMO's appeal to a certain sector of gamers who'd have bought a sandbox single player game, but single player gamers are very unlikely to buy a game whose focus is an MMO. Anyway I keep banging on about that and it must be getting boring. All I can say is you MMO players really need to push for the single player game aswell if you want the game to get more funding. I for one will pledge then, but not with the info given out at the moment and people on forums saying the SP game is more like a tutorial, by saying that the game you wan tis losing money. Also all crowdfunded games have a sudden influx the first few days then it becomes very very slow until the last few days where it picks up again. This is just following the usual trend.
  16. Saga..I'm putting this on a back burner until I get some confirmation on the SP game. Looks like Rogue System is the one to watch for now..though god I love the graphics in SC. Then again if the wizardry that Chris believes he has to squeeze those graphics out of todays systems doesn't materialise and it turns out you need a super rig it will be no loss anyway. SO many people backing without the knowledge of system specs is quite amazing. Considering these are supposed to be hard times people still must have the money for some top of the line rigs. Though if you notice the frame rate on the trailer was crawling..though that maybe the video editing he was using. Anyway my fingers and ties are crossed.
  17. Oh by the way Raisenthehouse..you may enjoy MMO's many don't..so I will say again many will be disappointed...you are obviously well catered for we a I'm all right jack attitude. Don't make out single player gamers are some tiny minority that don't count. Thats absolute rubbish. Yes there are loads who will enjoy the MMO but also a substantial amount who will be very disappointed if the single player game doesn't live upto their expectations. In my opinion MMO's are taking over way to much and decent single player games are being sidelined. It seems to fashionable to create MMO's and then watch them fail or fade away one after the other. Look what they did with Star wars, took a single player RPG and tried to make an MMO out of it..thereby ruining what could have been and making another ho hum MMO thats slowly dieing until it goes F2P. I'm sure many developers go the multiplayer route because they can't program a decent AI or making a decent AI is to much hard work. If Chris wants to be groundbreaking why not make a single player experience with AI good enough to feel human? Also without those human traits of griefing or filling up chat with racist disgusting language etc etc that many MMO's and multiplayer games are plagued with. So please don't make it will be some tiny minority who will be disappointed if the SP side isn't a game in it's own right. Go check out Rock paper Shotgun articles when talking about a new game that is going to be an MMO..they are always filled with people moaning about it and why every new game has to be online or an MMO. Your comment came across as ignorant and condescending. There is a huge single player market out there who are desperately wanting some great single player games. When I saw the trailer for this my heart leaped..only after finding out more to realize yet again the single player gamer is getting the sh1t end of the stick. I just hope that isn't the case. Oh and wheatkings I mentioned what you said about the single player side of it being a Tutorial on the FB page and it brought in a torrent of SP gamers saying it was wrong and no way was that the case etc etc. They asked unless you are part of the development team you wouldn't know that was the case for definite. Seriously some major defensive single player gamers over there who are going to be pi##ed if it turns out the SP game is some silly tutorial. Anyway rant over. Oh here are some others who are going to be upset aswell... http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/forums/topic/open-sp-world/
  18. Again don't you have to pledge before you can access. Also I see no problem asking questions here. I mean you may aswell say everyone might aswell go to the RSI forum and join there and not bother with this one. So I think this is a good a place as any, and those in the know can then answer the question for us. It doesn't matter if the person who answered the question got the info from RSI or FB. Asking questions here keeps a newly opened forum busy.
  19. Nope you get a military SP campaign then you have to move onto the MMO.
  20. Sadly the focus is MMO. It's not happening the way youwe'd like. Chris likes the idea of multiplayer rather than AI so I think he just put the SP game forward as an afterthought to keep what I suppose he thinks is the minority quite..but that wont wash with me. It either has full SP game aswell as an MMO or I'm out.
  21. Well with the worries and slight disappointment over SC single player game so far I have my eye on Rogue System Remember when you see any WIP the graphics are placeholders while he gets the systems in place. This is going to be the Falcon 4 of Space Sims I think. http://www.fingerscrossedinteractive.com/ http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3660958/Rogue_System_Development.html#Post3660958 Overview: Rogue System is an attempt to bring the classic space-combat sims into the modern era of gaming. Unlike the recent string of more arcade-like space shooters however, Rogue System also gives a nod to both classic and modern hardcore combat flight-sims by introducing fully integrated ship systems and the click-able cockpit to control them. Not only will you have to fly and fight, but you will also have to manage your ship and its functions to get the most out of it at all times. The plan is to sell Rogue System in modules, a minimal amount for each, to support the project over a long period of time. The first module would be the initial military campaign. The next would be the addition of open-ended gameplay. Other modules will include enhanced FPS gameplay with breaching actions, new ship hulls and ship systems, multi-player, and new military campaigns to draw you back into that story from time to time. General Game-play: The initial Module for Rogue System will be a single-player military experience. You will fly a series of dynamic missions, which are linked by pivotal scripted missions, until you reach the end of the campaign. Failing a mission does not stop the campaign, it only alters the ending. In between missions you will be able to walk around inside your starport, talk to your commander and fellow pilots, and follow a story built up around the current campaign. The dynamically generated missions will be based on the current assets of each military task force and the local assets (star ports, shipyards, etc). Your side's performance during these dynamic missions will have an effect on the scripted mission that plays out to propel the story along. Finally, the campaign's end will be based on the overall performance of both sides giving one of many possible outcomes. When the campaign is over you may stay in military service and fly more dynamic missions, or you may decide to "retire," in which case you are given a severance pay (enough to buy a simple ship) and are left to make your own way in the galaxy. At this point you may begin open-ended game-play once that module is released. Ships: Ship motion is based on actual thrust force from engines and thrusters around the ship's center of gravity. Thrusters can be damaged and destroyed which will adversely affect ship maneuverability. For example, if a thruster is not performing properly it will cause an imbalance and you may get un-commanded roll when you wanted pitch. This will make combat in a damaged fighter extra challenging. Ships are constructed from varying components. While you can be fairly certain of the equipment installed on a military ship, later on during open-ended gameplay, while you may encounter the same ship hull, you will never be completely certain of the components the owner has installed. Each of these components are installed to various equipment bays around the ship. Take too many hits in one part of the ship and components in that section could be damaged. This will affect not only the performance of the damaged components, but also the performance of any dependent components. An underperforming power unit may cause your weapon systems to fire at less than full strength, as an example. Environment: Every time you begin a new game you will get a new, dynamically created "Galactic Arm" of varying size. Stellar objects move in real time. Some planets LITERALLY take hundreds of years to orbit their stars. Planets have moons and other orbiting bodies, and all are of varying type based on several physical factors. Some planets or moons may be inhabited if they are of the right type and are within the star's "life zone," while others may be barren balls of rock or massive Gas Giants. All of these celestial bodies have their own gravitational force which affects the objects around them. While all of this may not be too important in the initial Module, later on it will open an endless possibility of exploration with the addition of the Maverick Module (open-ended gameplay). During your explorations you may find abandoned ships to salvage, ancient alien structures to interact with, and who knows what else. You'll be able to trade, hunt, mine or steal your way to riches. Meanwhile, non-player characters (and later with multi-player humans as well) will be doing their own thing with which you can choose to help, hinder or simply ignore. And, don't forget the war that continues to rage across the known sectors of the galaxy--you might inadvertently stumble into a combat zone. Will you choose to run, or come to the aid of those you once flew and fought with? AI: The goal is to have combat capable AI to ensure dynamic, intense action. Also, you will be able to interact with major characters (namely the pilots you serve with) before, during, and after missions. Major characters on the opposing side have a memory, too. Fight them with courage and honor and you may find they will let you live when the odds are against you. If not though, you can be sure they will come at you with everything they have... The Other Stuff: Sorry, but we're not going to give everything away We have some great game-play elements that we don't recall in any previous space-combat effort and we'd like to keep them a surprise...
  22. You have to pledge don't you to access their forum..if so then those who want the SP game probably wont have access because they are worried about the SP content..so the question is unlikely to be asked. Unless some kind hearted pledger could ask on our behalf and post the answer here.
  23. Please ask him about the single player and whether we are looking at a game in it's own right similar to Wing Commander in content or really a tutorial to the MMO. If he mentions money ask him how much he thinks he needs to create a fully fledged single player campaign. This is very important question for me and the others who would buy for the SP game.
  24. I don't think it has anything to do with Freelancer. it' just used lots of Space SIm references.
