I'm hoping for a release the coming week. I can fully accept and understand if they can't , but I'm really itching for it now. Let's all just cross our fingers and hope that the weekend hasn't brought any new show stoppers. The last update sounded really positive.

Love Ben's response. "the 300i rocks". What more do you need? I never had any doubts though.

Looks really good. Looking forward to seeing it in the hangar to see what it looks like up close, and in the inside. Not to mention... Just one week until we actually get to show everyone the 300-series is not nerfed to uselessness.

I don't necessarily agree. Payback is always worth while Also, I don't think it's good if word got around that everyone gets "one freebie" on Imps. Or that smaller attacks are seldom retaliated. I for one will seek revenge in most cases, and I will also, as often as I can, help others who are looking to get even with their assailants. Now I do agree that we don't have to put a lot of resources into hunting down every attacker with our entire fleet. And I'm sure combat ops will have some sort of list over prioritized targets. But at the bottom of that list, we should name every hostile pilot. Just in case we run out of people to kill. Or if any smaller groups want to search for targets for fun. Then again... There's always the bounty hunters >)

Well, when I said "decoy" i meant just to have an expendable ship that we purposly leave behind when fleeing, hoping the pirates takes the bait. Although the idea og filling a high value target with marines, sounds really fun, I agree that could prove difficult. When the game goes live, in what seems like eons from now, we get to try out and invent some cool defensive and offensive strategies. I think I'll have to do like Eric Cartman when waiting for the Wii to be released. I just can't take it anymore. Hopefully the AC will make the wait seem shorter.

@Swiftsure That's exactly what I meant. But I was typing on my phone, so I didn't bother writin it in so many words. Cool to see that we think alike. @Dragonwealth I completely support that Imperium should pay back tenfold any and all unprovoked agression against our members. This org is so well composed that i hope the powers in charge will be able to keep a "ticket system" on all agressors. I would definetly join the hunt if one of our members got attacked.

It actually doesn't bother me that I have to wait for multiplayer. I'm just super excited that we all get to try it from the get go. I've never been a top dog in any pvp games, so I'm going to try to stay safe in the PU. The biggest reason I also look forward to the multiplayer AC is to actually practice my dogfighting skills. I suspect the guys aged 16-25 is gonna wipe the floor with me , so I need to hone my skills before we go live.

10 For the Chairman Episode 20. May 12th, 2014

Ooh. Another already? Sweet! -
@Deadhiel Yes. That's very true. The biggest haulers Will more than likely be sluggish, so firepower will be needed when going for the big pay-off. Also, if the estimated profit is high enough, it might be worth having designated decoy ship, with low value cargo, that can stay behind with the escorts while the rest of the pack makes a run for it. But that's not going to be a problem, as we all know Imperium will have the deadliest fighter Aces in the verse One thing about flying in convoys is that while you'll scare off the smaller groups of pirate, you are a more tempting target for large groups of well organized attackers. Which makes for epic battles

252950 here. I feared worse, so I guess I cant't complain. Bedides, I'm more than happy with testing out the single player for starters. If it's true that this will be avaliable for all, that's å bonus for me. I was expecting to wait a while before being granted access.

Lots of great ideas here. I'm looking more and more forward to try my Ghost in the AC (v.2? 3?). I agree with you that ballistic weapons are a good idea to stay off the scanners. In the old wing commander and privateer games, you could choose which weapons that were on-line. I suspect SC will be no different. This i believe would mean you can have energy based weapons mounted, but turned off until you need them. That would not increase you emissions. With the ghost I plan to fit some extra weapons. mostly ballistic, maybe a few energy weapons as back-up if i run out of ammo. I intend so sneak up on unsuspecting prey, from behind and below, with engines on low power in order to get close enough. Then open fire, fire thrusters to gain speed then power down most systems to disappear from scanners again. Having seen (on pax vid) how quickly missiles lock. I' m considering the possibility of mounting some. Just imagine being the foe. You fly about minding your own business when all of a sudden your sensors flash with waring of inbound bogey. Seconds later your hull is being shredded by mass drivers, and you get the terrible missile warning. Then all of a sudden your foe vanishes. If you survived the first onslaught that is. Then you'd just have to sit there, with a damaged ship, waiting for your assailant to show himself again. and when he does, it,s nite-nite. No one knows exactly how everything is going to play out once the different stages of the game goes live. But I would think that as long as you can't be found you can't be killed. If you use the ghost for what it is, and stay in the shadows, so to speak, it will be a frightening opponent despite of it,s limited firepower. On the other hand, if you don't and go head to head with e.g. a super hornet you'll probably be toast.

I have a dictionary of mythology. I will search here for a befitting name. E.G legendary specters, ghosts etc for my hornet ghost. Maybe if there are any beasts of burden, chariots or similar, I can find a name foe my freelancer. the 325a will have to have something to do with speed and force i suppose. Speaking of which... I might as well start looking.

Aren't the shield "energy shield"? Highly efficient against energy based weapons like lasers, and not so great vs projectile fire? Wouldn't an extension of this be that a ship is just a large projectile, and could possibly ram another regardless of the shield? That sounds logical in my mind, but I may be missing something. If that's the case. Kamikaze tactics might be employed, and that would (could) actually be kinda cool. An ship with a massive cargo of antimatter slamming into a ship, going BOOM, and dealing massive hull damage. Plausible?

This is not necessarily true. When firing at he diamond, the targeting computer is telling you that "at current range you will hit the target by aiming here, if the target keeps it's current course and speed". Just imagine: you target is heading from left to right on your screen at a given speed. Your "diamond" is trailing behind it. At the moment you fire the target changes it course. Well my friend, that's officially a miss. Even though we're firing lasers, they are not traveling at the speed of light, and hits will not be instant. So in addition to watching the diamond, you should try to look at the ship, predicting it's next move. or am i totally off here? oh and by the way: these targeting systems are stock on almost every fighter in the world today. e.g. the Vulcan on a F16.

I was thinking of joining asgard as a second corp., but someone told there be pirates. that's not agreeable with my imp.membership. and I plan to at least stay with imp until we get to know the game better. i think imperium has a really good setup, and i believe we can dominate the pu if thinks work as planned.

Convoys are generally a good idea for high risk trade missions in my opinion. As Drum states above, it allows for something to get through. If you and your convoy are hauling high value cargo through dangerous parts of space, a good deal would be for everyone to pool the profits and losses. If you then deduct the entire convoy's repair bill from the profit before splitting it, everyone wins. If losses is kept to an acceptable rate that is. Profits should be divided based on the amount of cargo each member hauls before one sets out. Also any escorts should have their fair share. Flying a convoy like this would allow for fairly safe runs with moderately high returns. Also you're part of a group, experiencing the game with others, witch makes is more fun, and it's more rewarding for the players. Convoys are probably not the best choice for a smuggler run though... Unless we send a group of Hornet Ghosts on a spectacular smuggler convoy run. That would be so awesome...

I caved in and added the Ghost to my collection. It looked to awesome to pass up. I hope they don't release any ships for a while, because I need to save my money so I can upgrade my rig. "Luckily" live is still more than a year away.

How would you like to see job-hiring/job-payment happen
Ztiltez replied to Boraxx's topic in Trade & Industry
(disclamer: this might already have been clarified since last post) My belief is that we will see mission computers like the ones in wing commander. These will probably have a "generate mission" option for player contracts. Like some of you have suggested, I too think there will be an escrow. The contract giver will have to put x amount of creds in the contract and it will be paid on completion. Same goes for the scenario of building stuff. If I want a ship built I will have to put the agreed amount in escrow upfront. It will be released when ship (or other merchandise) is delivered to buyer. I do however see an exploit here. Lets say I agree to escort your haul from a to b. A sum will be paid to me when u arrive safely at b. Somewhere along the line we are attacked by superior forces. Now we have two options: 1- die or 2- surrender cargo. In option 1 the assailants will pick up cargo after we are dead. In option 2 the assailants claim it and we fly our seperate ways. Thing is though, in both scenarios I am in cahoots with the attackers and we share the profits. This is something you would not be able to discover, unless like someone suggested, There is a "successful mission" rating. Now there will probably be a lot of griefers exploiting this. Especially if they have multiple chars and can rotate to keep their ranking up. They could also do missions for eachother to manipulate the rank. Although this is intriguing gameplay, and brings a lot of exitement, i foresee massive exploitation. I hope CR has some aces up his sleeve. The player mission system will be vastly interesting to see when it's ready. -
