  1. mirrors, cameras, and holograms. I drove large equipment for the military, everything has mirrors. If not that, Instrument Assisted Landings, like airplanes use to line up to runways at night. failing that, have a spotter get out and look. or.. you could cheat.. and use 3rd party camera 'remote visual sensor drone' (ugh). anyways, the first 3 items aren't in the game yet because they haven't finished updating StarEngine to support that kind of stuff. crisis never did need to have real working mirrors since it was mostly fantasy / post apocalyptic type settings, but it's been promised for SC now finally, even if before they where unsure about the need.

    I hope this game doesn't end up like startrek online, with gigantic bland bridges and hallways primarily designed to best support Super Mario 64 styled Floating Lakitu Cameras... while doing FPS combat. These bridges might look the way they do so the camera can hover 12 feet in the air, and 8 feet behind you. This of course is only an issue because of FoV reasons, IRL you can see out of the corners of your eyes, in game you need to constantly look around, or have tweaked FOV settings, OR pull the camera way back, since head tracking has always sucked... well, this game has the head tracking built in by default so they SHOULD be able to get rid of the ridiculousness over the shoulder cameras.

    A form of planned obsolescence, leave in a few design flaws to bug the customer that can me fixed in the next model year revision. These ships will be squadron 42 era, after a few years of the PU new models will come out and ours will be old hunks of junk with obnoxious bridge layouts.

    We have already 'Seen' the idris, outside, and in. your 'prediction' is a little late. as to when the idris is finalized and 'hanger ready' that is another thing entirely. don't hold your breaths on that until sq42 time.
  6. Supposedly yes, but the game is wonky and it might not work, plus it can change at any time, so to really answer your question decisively with a single word: MAYBE. Also, incase you guys didn't know, a rework for the 300 series has been brought up by the community and is being considered after feedback was requested about the 300 series, now CIG is seeking feedback on the possible rework.

    I hope that is a functional pipe, and not greeble. I can't wait for it to burst and spray hot plasma all over my hanger, have to vent the area, done my suit, shut off flow to the pipe, and effect repairs, under combat situations of course.

    well even with our numbers we have lots of idris, i doubt we have numbers to keep them all crewed. im sure there will be crew oportunities on some imperium ships even for non members.

    I wouldn't worry to much about melting stuff. They are putting in an automated unmelter thingy soon. It seems they are going to become even more liberal with thier policy, from sure we can unmelt a few, to sure unmelt whatever but don't abuse it, to here just unmelt all your crap your self and leave us alone about it. I may just melt a bunch of my shit to pick a few things on this sale and worry about what to melt and what to unmelt later when we know more about how these ships will actually work in the game, and it is much less concept. I might even melt my idris, I was expecting a compact, submarine style tiny-capitol to man with my friends, but they let foundry 42 make it massively huge to support 3rd person camera views for the story. If your not able to move massive machinery (like to repace a jump drive, or engine core) down those huge corridors i'm going to be pissed. Its almost like Startrek Online over again with the comically large ship interiors with no real purpose but somewhere for the camera to move through while you run past the scenery. For 1250 I can pick up quite a few of the limited ships I missed, and then unmelt the idris later if I change my mind about it later. I'm really waiting to see what they put out to replace the 'corvette' class that the idris used to be destined for before it got upsized so much.

    Idris got so fat. Is it just me or do the corridors seem kind of big? like the crew wouldn't even be able to reach the ceiling to deal with busted pipes and stuff? I thought our ships where going to feel like being on a sub/navy ship.. but it seems that massive unrealistic interiors are slowly creeping in, to allow for more cinimetic 3rd person camera views. I'm hoping its only because the idris got a reclassification, and that the new corvette will feel a little tighter.

    I don't think those tanks are scaled right. It doesn't look nearly as big in the seconds before that when it is filled with SC ships.

    The Idris is getting big. The last word from CR is they had to put 100 npcs it for sq42 to make it not feel too sparse.
