Star Citizen Android Applicaiton

Hey Everyone,

So I have been working on a project that I believe you all would like and I wanted to give Imperium the first shot to alpha test it.

I have gone in and written a PC and android application that allows for hotkeys to be pressed from your android device and interact with SC. It is currently in very early alpha but I feel it is currently up enough for you all to get first looks at it and give me some feedback.

The directions are in the Readme and I can assist people who have problems.

The link:

Extract and follow the directions to the letter :D

V0.4a ---> 08/17/2014

Hope you all enjoy and I look forward to getting more versions with more functionality as I am able!!!

I will be placing feature requests here as given:

1) Video Directions

2)...

           - Screens designed for battle and ship interfaces

           - The ability to do anything you need in your hanger directly from your device

           - new music and audio

           - New UI for custom designable screens

Thanks,

For more clarity on the .apk, only it needs to be copied to your android device. You may also need to download a third party explorer for your phone. Some of the default file viewers cannot see the .apk.  Your phone must also be set to allow third party software.

dont miss out the window 8 pro tablets no point spending the load of cash that i did back when they first came out to not support it...

My personal feeling on it, if it can play SC on it then no reason you cant use that app also on it.

its ok for IOS and Android but come on lol

Let me know.

downloading now

1st test:

     a. Having trouble on how to bind the keys. Do i just type in "lctrl" for left control to key bind crouch?

     b. Once I attempt to key bind, can not get back to previous screen, can not scroll or find button to return to main menu. Have to shut down app

from phone OS homescreen. Does not save attempted key bind when started back up.

     c. Only controls that are binded are f,f1 - so i imagine if i can properly bind them then i look at the native if it is registering input.

*so pretty much i don't know how to make the key binds stick and if i'm doing it properly*

*(F: Use), (F1: change view) - both work flawlessly with no input lag*

Hope this helps.

:stupid: . lol

When you download a new version, you need to click on "Load Defaults" in the key bind menu. This will make sure that the keys are correct, then retype in the IP to make sure it works.

The keybinds are set up to match the current key set from SC. As long as you loaded the defaults and then the keys should work.

I have not made a manual yet for what the key binds are. All of them do need to be lowercase, so if you want to test a new key, try any of the 26 letters. You will need to match the binds in SC.

All of the keys in the app currently should work. If you used an old version, then completely delete everything you downloaded. This is needed to make sure no versions get crossed. More programs are getting updated which is very important!!!!

ALL NEW VERSIONS WILL BE LINKED AT THE TOP!!!!! DO NOT USE THOSE IN THE COMMENTS!!!!

The current feature list is:

movement controls in the hanger

ship interaction

full purpose GUI

    - basically can use every button currently available

When DFM is released, it will have displays that allow you to interact with your ship, such as energy levels, weapon loadouts, targetting, basic movement, and a lot more to come!!!

Just tried that app out, works very well.

Device details: Tegra Note 7

A suggestions with the key-bind menu: being able to scroll the page from anywhere would be nice, it feels more natural (similar to internet browsing apps, although most apps have this feature)

or

Make the scroll bar easier to slide, had to try a few times before it would get the perfect spot for it to scroll.

Being able to customize the layout and color could be a nice touch, but if you're adding in different layouts for different ships i guess you could follow the color scheme.

Also, having an option to keep the screen from timing out would be good. Maybe only have this active in the UI where the buttons are, but if you're in the menus leave it default.

Great job so far and I can't wait to see this app evolve as more of the game gets released.

Yah @Moofasaa, so those are some great suggestions! i spoke with 64 and felt the same way about the scroll and editing the interface of the scroll itself, just easier to navigate, but I digress, Fanatastic job 64 and we will keep ya updated upon further testing!

Version 0.3a is now updated and linked in the original post. It has a lot of new features for the DFM!!!

Also, I have found that it works really well an additional program called: VoiceAttack

http://www.voiceattack.com/Default.aspx

http://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/27g9gh/star_citizen_arena_commander_voice_attack_test/

Combined these allow for absolute control over your game; Never need a mouse and keyboard again :D

----More updates to come!!!! - 64

Here is a question: the phone and computer need to be on the same network, so how does that affect the network?  Will it use up internet data, which I am limited to a month, or does it act independently of the internet?

All of the data is only on the internal network and, therefore, has no access to the internet (nor does it need it). It has a negligible impact on your network as well (a few bytes when a button is clicked). It is designed to have no interference with your network or computer. The great part is performance on your computer is also negligible. It has 0 effect on your performance is Star Citizen.
